But in Bad Boy’s for Life, they said 25 years ago they became partners which would be 1995 when the 1st movie came out. By that timeline, if Mike did 1 year undercover and 6 years Marcus partner in Bad Boys 1 timeline, they should have said Mike did 32 years on the force!

The Best: Martin and Will still have that magical chemistry that put these movies on top of the Buddy cop action comedy genre heap, Ammo wasn't as bad as i thought they'd be, Martin showed that he still got the comedic flair, The call backs to previous movies with the opening music, the iconic hero shot and Reggie, a very strong and compelling story that hit the emotions perfectly and really fun action scenes that I loved watching at the movies, the twists and turns were genuinely shocking and the villain was the best of the franchise, he had the most depth and was the most legit dangerous as hell even more than Futchet. The Worst: Definitely not having Fletcher or the two Cuban cops Marcus and Mike always go at it with or a return of Julie, Ammo and Rita did have to save them one too many times which didn't take me out of the movie but it did feel odd at that one part, Could've used more Theresa, The captain dying hurt like hell but the very WORST was Marcus being more comic relief and getting less action stuff. Made me really miss Bad Boys 1 Marcus something fierce. If you're a fan of the character you'd be a bit disappointed how he was not served the best here. That kitchen scene at Reggies wedding was the realist shit ever. When he asked him "so someone gets to dump me in the middle of the street and you not gonna do anything about it"? Thought that whole scene was great!
@pmonty jaaaymes Well in the first movie he was somewhat level headed but also short tempered, aggressive and a badass in his own right: jumping on cars, kicking the car jacker in the nuts, the epic bathroom fight and him racing Futchet etc. But I know that was a different Martin at a different time that we'll never get back. I do wish he got to kill the Bruha like he did Johnny Tapia that would've been a great moment or better yet kill Armando I prefer the main villains to die by Marcus or Mike's hand not go to jail that felt pg rated to me. But yeah I agree that great kitchen scene was some amazing acting from Will and Martin especially, he was served well there. I always say Martin could do drama very well and is super underrated just as an actor. He could easily do a dramatic picture.
I think you missed the point, it was meant to feel like it was from the 90s still. They didn't try and modernise it. It fits better in my opinion how they filmed the movie.

I do miss the older (younger) more serious marcus but he just got older and more humble I guess... more settled after all maybe... he always wanted to be the family man...
Martin will never be THAT Martin Lawrence again. It sucks but sadly it's just life. He was still good though. Hopefully Martin will get the chance to work out for the fourth one so maybe we'll get a blend of old Marcus and new Marcus.

(rawness) however you want to put it after he made nothing to lose in '96... after that we got blue streak and such and he was in full goofy mode by then... those movies were great and hilarious but just more toned down. the mid 90's were hectic for him as he was having personal issues and was temperamental of the "martin" set that led to that shows downfall as most of us know... I gotta say they were never able to top Julie as a female lead or the unofficial "third" member of the team. Tea Leoni was fine as hell but also had a great chemistry with Will and Martin and was able to hold her own with them that not even Gabrielle Union or the chick that played Rita were able to. Another reason why the first Bad Boys can never be topped.
It's the contrary, none of those women held a candle to Gabrielle Union, she's not only fine but she held her own and made an independent likeable character which is why she got her own series, Tea Leoni who played Julie wasn't likeable and was straight up forgettable, annoyin' and one dimensional in performance, their was no meanin' for her to be there, just to have a female in the cast and for eye candy, Bad Boys II alone was a fresh creative idea and cinema masterpiece.

Worst thing is that a supposedly smart detective lets everyone know he really didn't get killed and then proceeds to go to parties and kids' basketball games while the killer is still on the loose killing people. Insulting.
It felt even. I did notice that whenever Martin had scenes without Will, they tended to be shorter than Will's scenes without Martin. But whenever they had a scene together, Martin usually had more dialogue.
About Marcus being relegated to a sidekick role, at first I thought that would bother me, but then I kept thinking about Martin Lawrence’s health since he was in a coma after that heat stroke. I know it happened a long time ago but given how he was a little out of shape, and for me it worked for the character, I didn’t have a problem with it. Also, when the twist was revealed about Mike and the villain, I laughed and was like “so I guess Deadshot did find out what it was like to be with a witch!” Lmao

This is definitely a Will Smith movie and Martin seems to be tagging along for the ride. They wrote Martin's character as a lil bi#@ who couldn't handle himself unlike part one where he was a bad ass. On a positive note I love the depth this movie had and for the first time there were real consequences. I hope they keep that up as they move into part 4.

Bad Boys is unique because it's one of the few franchises everyone usually wants more of. They could've been at Bad Boys 10 by now and I think fans would still love it. This is why I don't care - ever - for movie reviews. Saw the film last week, then just read / saw this video clip, out of sheer curiosity. Aside from alot of unpleasantries which are to be expected in this type action film, I wasn't disappointed. There were no "homophobic", racist or police brutality issues to me in the past films, I am an African American heterosexual female. It's only when folks put ideas in the equation that people think certain negatives that "ain't" there ! Plus, what's with the comparison from 25 yrs ago, smh ? Why the contrived comparison that Mike Lowrey has more weight in the films than Marcus Burnett ?

It's cool that Mike has a little bit more of a backstory now. it was his story so, naturally Martin had to kinda played second fiddle, but he was funny while doing it. he had the biggest laugh of the movie. you say it makes you wonder what they're going to do with the next movie but it's pretty obvious they're doing a kind of fast and furious thing with this next movie. can't say too much more without spoiling it for people that haven't seen the movie yet

I gotta say they were never able to top Julie as a female lead or the unofficial "third" member of the team. Tea Leoni was fine as hell but also had a great chemistry with Will and Martin and was able to hold her own with them that not even Gabrielle Union or the chick that played Rita were able to. Another reason why the first Bad Boys can never be topped.
It's the contrary, none of those women held a candle to Gabrielle Union, she's not only fine but she held her own and made an independent likeable character which is why she got her own series, Tea Leoni who played Julie wasn't likeable and was straight up forgettable, annoyin' and one dimensional in performance, their was no meanin' for her to be there, just to have a female in the cast and for eye candy, Bad Boys II alone was a fresh creative idea and cinema masterpiece.

It felt even. I did notice that whenever Martin had scenes without Will, they tended to be shorter than Will's scenes without Martin. But whenever they had a scene together, Martin usually had more dialogue.

About Marcus being relegated to a sidekick role, at first I thought that would bother me, but then I kept thinking about Martin Lawrence’s health since he was in a coma after that heat stroke. I know it happened a long time ago but given how he was a little out of shape, and for me it worked for the character, I didn’t have a problem with it.
Also, when the twist was revealed about Mike and the villain, I laughed and was like “so I guess Deadshot did find out what it was like to be with a witch!” Lmao

This is definitely a Will Smith movie and Martin seems to be tagging along for the ride. They wrote Martin's character as a lil bi#@ who couldn't handle himself unlike part one where he was a bad ass. On a positive note I love the depth this movie had and for the first time there were real consequences. I hope they keep that up as they move into part 4.
And that Martin and Will are true equals like the first movie as well as front and center. I ain't here for them being benched for the jailbait ammo squad. It's called Bad Boys for a reason lol

Bad Boys is unique because it's one of the few franchises everyone usually wants more of. They could've been at Bad Boys 10 by now and I think fans would still love it. As long as it's always all about Marcus and Mike. I'm a bit worried about Bad Boys 4 having them play second fiddle to the young punks. Now, that ain't Bad Boys, I'm not here for that. This is why I don't care - ever - for movie reviews. Saw the film last week, then just read / saw this video clip, out of sheer curiosity. Aside from alot of unpleasantries which are to be expected in this type action film, I wasn't disappointed. There were no "homophobic", racist or police brutality issues to me in the past films, I am an African American heterosexual female. It's only when folks put ideas in the equation that people think certain negatives that "ain't" there ! Plus, what's with the comparison from 25 yrs ago, smh ? Why the contrived comparison that Mike Lowrey has more weight in the films than Marcus Burnett ?

I absolutely loved this movie but there were some flaws. The timeline wasn’t accurate and I felt Martin didn’t have an equal role
