  • I picked up the Alpinestars SPX Air Carbon v2 and SMX-1 Air v2 to figure out which one is better for all around summer riding on your motorcycle. The SPX gloves cost almost twice as much as the SMX gloves, do you guys think it’s worth the extra cost?

    I've watched a few reviews on this glove and none of them addressed the flexibility issue so thanks and well done for highlighting the floating panel which allows much more movement than my old Celer gloves which were really quite stiff to use. Really nice job!

    Great comparison review dude! Choosing between exactly these two! With everything you mentioned, definitely going for the SPX. Thanks for the great review!

    Just replaced my SMX by the SPX but had no opportunity to take a ride with them. Noticed the same issues with the SMX-gloves. Have fun and ride save!

      I understand but keep in mind that you hands are usually the first thing to hit the payment when you fall, gotta keep them as safe as you can!

    The palm sliders aren't for impact protection. It's because people don't know how to fall and will put their hands out to brace for impact which can brake your wrist. The slider allow your hand so slide out of the way or flip over so you aren't carrying weight on it when you land.

    now that you've had them for awhile, what do you think? what about hot days re:air moving through the glove? big difference? thx for the video!

    they attach the pinky so it doesnt get ripped sideways or caught in lever on a crash.....its been known to happen quite a bit so it just keeps your fingers together in event of a get off.....

    How are these holding up for you? I'm looking at either a pair of these or the Scorpion SGS mk2s and I've seen some people complaining about the stitching on the alpinestars coming lose.

    I also went from the smx to the spx. And I just got them in mail. They are extremely tight especially when making a fist, should I wait for them to break in.

    i have a medium one its new wore two times only, but the problem its tight on thumb and some other tips of the finger, will it break in? any suggestion?

    Happy with the XL? Since they are breaking in, would you in hindsight gone down to a size Large? Or XL a good fit, and are true to size? Great vid and content 🔝🎥🎬

      Yep! Still have the odd part about one finger being a tad too small but it’s gotten better now that the leather has broken in more.

    I had a pair of these for a lil less than a month. Felt great and liked the fit but the leather on the conductive finger tips started peeling really bad and the rubbing from the palm slider and my grips ended up tearing the leather around the slider. Local dealer replaced them under warranty and got a pair of SP8 instead

      I'm starting to finally see the conductive tip peeling off as well but the palm sliders seem good on mine for now.

    How is the airflow after you used them for some time comparing to SMX-1 Air?

    • @moto.obsession
      @moto.obsession  2 роки тому

      SMX seems like a tad more airflow but it's probably more likely due to the shorter cuff.

    Does it have enough air flow for summer rides?

    • @moto.obsession
      @moto.obsession  3 роки тому

      I think so, I ride in central Texas where it gets pretty hot and these seem to have pretty good airflow IMO. I have only ever used some sort of gloves with airflow though so I don't have much to compare to with non-summer/airflow type of gloves.

    how the SPX holding up?

    • @moto.obsession
      @moto.obsession  3 роки тому +2

      Love them!
      My only complaint is that there are some hotspots towards the palm pad and on one of the fingers on the left glove (might just be my hand shape or something.
      Airflow is great and everything is holding up well 👍
