  • Peter Hitchens seemed to want to be taking part in a different debate to the the one he was attending. Here is a clear example of either evasive dishonesty or a genuine case of missing the point.

With his trademark firebrand, he beat the drums of war in Iraq, and wound up being not only wrong on the most morally reprehensible actions the aughts, but unapologetic to the end. Alex tried to have a proper philosophical analysis of Hitchen's views, of a classically Socratic bent (though a sympathetic application of the method); enquiring about the views, presenting opposing evidence, analogous situations, and hypothetical scenarios to pin down exactly what Hitchens thinks and why.

Really? Is that truly horrible? When people express disappointment with the outcomes of circumstance, you consider that immoral? In my moral judgement, Christopher did more good, and would do more good with his life than Peter ever has or will. Peter defends the indefensible and propagates a religion of death and sacrifice, whereas the worst that Christopher did was pollute the air with his smoking and drinking.

Christopher was a powerful campaigner for reason. He made clear that everybody has an innate moral sense and does not need a contrived fantasy figure to prescribe how we should live. Peter failed to understand that message.

    Love ur videos..
    Im from jordan,
Lived my childhood as a muslim,
Thankfully im ok now, as I dont believe in fairytales anymore..
Back in school , 20 or so years ago,
We were in class learning about how great islam and Muhammad are, and how disgusting those who dosnt agree with him,
Im at the back of the class not paying attention as usual, quitly making jokes about other religions with my other friends..
Until I made the joke "look at em indians idiots, they worship cows, I ate their god yesterday" ,
And my friend's response was, andi dont think he actually knew how profoundly important what he said,
He said : "so what? They probably laughing at us as we go around the kaaba in Mecca in circles like idiots kissing a black rock"..
Ever since I never stopped thinking about how religions varie according to people, each holding his belief as the true one, and never heared an argument from our religion class teacher that wouldnt be fit to use by other religions..
And then I started to think how things used to be worshipped, like the sun, arnt worshipped anymore as we understand what it is..
Earthquakes was caused by god cus hes pissed,
Volcanoes was caused by god cus hes mad,
    Storms, diseases, ... etc
Which left current mainstream religions in a tight corner,
And how to get out of this corner?
    Wel...
God is in a different dimension, u cant understand him or prove his existence, also u can never hope to understand or prove his existence,
And u must follow what in his book, otherwise ull suffer for eternity,
In the end I watched a documentary on bbc about blackholes,
And it was as inspiring and as amazing as all religions combined,
And what made it even more inspiring and incredibly amazing,
Is the fact that its... true
Now that I know that there is no such thing as god,
I feel more weight of responsibility on my shoulders to be good,
    I genuinely do, ..
    Why?
Cus I know , its up to me to decide,
    And only me..

      It doesn't matter either way.

"Why do Atheists want there not to be a God". It's weird because I've never said the word's "I don't want there to be a God", I don't care if there is one, I just simply require proof before dedicating my 1 definite life to him when he may not exist. On top of that, if there was a God and God was proven, life would be so much easier. all I'd have to do is wake up, pray and be good and with that I'd inevitably be nothing but happy.

Why are you attacking him for being Christian? By all means I don't see a logical conclusion to believe in a God or Christianity, but that doesn't mean you attack others who do. As long as he isn't forcing his religion in people's faces and he isn't trying to control the actions of others through his belief, that what has he actually done wrong?

    • @CCGamingTube
      @CCGamingTube 7 років тому +1

Many people who are Christian do just as much for the environment as atheists. You can act like it's religion's fault for not believing in global warming, but from my experience it just seems to be an issue that's very common amongst Americans. So I'd blame Americans before Christianity.

    • @CCGamingTube
      @CCGamingTube 7 років тому +1

I hate religion, as far as I'm concerned religion is the root to all the evil on earth. So don't tell me I don't understand the real danger of religions. That doesn't mean you attack someone for being religious because that won't achieve or change anything in this world. You construct logical arguments against theism in favour or atheism and over time you create more atheists and eventually it becomes dominant. Just like in the UK where most people are either atheist or spiritual, but mostly non-religious. This is also spreading across Europe generally where science and logic is in favour of belief and hope.
You're literally on a channel that's dedicated to composing clear thoughtful arguments in a neutral tone instead of aggressive and hateful. There's a reason he does that. Because telling people they're "stupid" and "foolish" won't make them think twice about the religion they follow. Only consistent logic coming from the correct place and presented in the best manner will there be any hope of change.
Do I think to myself that it is moronic to follow a religion? Yes, of course I do, to follow anything with little to no logic is naive to the highest degree. Am I going to insult and degrade a man for being what I consider naive? No, because that's inhumane. If he tries to force his naive ways down my throat, then yeah, I may throw out an insult. However Luciano never tried to force anything, he just hoped I'd one day believe in his God and provided me a compliment on my atheistic comment. Then you showed up to show a truly vile and negative side to atheism which is a turn off to those who aren't already atheist, and in fact, people like you are a big reason people refuse to label themselves as "atheist" and stick to words like "agnostic".
You think you're providing greatness with your agenda, in fact you're a hindrance on trying to achieve an atheist majority world.

Well, here we are, 6 years later. Alex has had an interview with Peter Hitchens, who stormed off in disgust, claiming to be bored and tired of the interview topic. He outright accused Alex of tricking him into the interview under false pretenses.
After Alex warmly welcomed Mr. Hitchens, and before any discussion could take place, Mr. Hitchens spat out "So far, so good." I took this to be a dismissive gesture towards his host. It was "So far so good" because Alex hadn't yet engaged with him. Mr. Hitchens was quite rude, and got very angry when young Alex pestered him about his views on decriminalization of drugs and Portugal's policies. Our boy Alex took it all graciously and soldiered on. This offended Mr. Hitchens' delicate sensibilities to the point that he spent several minutes off camera barking into the room about what a weasel Alex was. Alex attempted to defend himself against the accusation of trickery but when he wasn't being heard, stated that he would post the interview online, regardless of Hitchens' objections.
My take on this whole thing is that at some point in the interview Mr. Hitchens remembered THIS video (which somebody likely brought to his eminence's attention) and had a "That's where I know you from!" moment. I'm surprised that someone of Mr. Hitchens' reputation could be so easily exasperated, so easily led in an interview with this relative youngster, and so unbelievably whiny about it. And they didn't even get to the subject of God!
In my personal opinion Alex OWNED Mr. Hitchens. The late Christopher Hitchens would have been so proud if there was an afterlife and he'd been watching from it ;)
The title of the video is 'Peter Hitchens storms out of interview....' It's a good watch.

So, if there was a god, why would it require anything of anyone... why would it even need us to acknowledge its existence. its a god, it shouldnt have human emotions that require constant attention from its minions

It is the other way around, we need the god to have peace at heart, and thats the correlation the god’s makes in the Quran 👌🏻
as well as he says anyone sins they sin against themselves as they are wronging themselves, and when they are worshiping him they are benefiting themselves 🌹
we don’t harm the god when we sins and we don’t benefit the god when we do good deeds, the god is The self-Sufficient (الصمد) which is one of his attributes in islam and there are 99 of them that tells us about him ❤️

My theory is that Peter, the younger child, with the same argumentative tendencies as his older sibling, he eventually went to take the opposite position simply to be different, or oppose, or set himself apart. He doesn't even like talking about him, and before his death he wasn't fond of talking to him.

I find it odd that Peter talks with almost the exact same cadence and verbal mannerisms as his older brother. I have three older brothers and none of us talk like the other.
