Best way to trim the plane really fast: Turn on attitude hold, wait until plane stabilizes, turn off autopilot. The autopilot in the Su-25T works by directly adjusting the the trim, so attitude hold will really quickly trim you for stable handling.

    • @fonesrphunny7242

Trim is an essential skill to have, so I'd recommend doing it manually and getting used to it.

@@fonesrphunny7242 Sure, but it is a very good option to have for doing it quickly, like when setting up for a dive etc.

It's kind of a bonus you can't rely on in many other aircraft, so you'll eventually need to learn it. I've gotten so used to manual trim in the RU aircraft, it has made my life so much easier.
If you instead learn to manage an AP system (preferably blind), that should also translate well into other aircraft.

    • @jubuttib
      @jubuttib Рік тому +1

@@fonesrphunny7242 FWIW it doesn't even apply to other Ru planes, like the Su-27. It's just a feature on this one, and I'm off the opinion that you should learn to exploit the features of each plane. =)

I'm a big fan of this. I personally use straight and level flight autopilot but it's the same concept. It used to apply to all FC3 (and FC2) aircraft but over time it seems they've upgraded the others to work a little better. To all the replies talking about "learn to trim" - that's missing the point. I can trim perfectly well, have been doing so for over a decade before finding that trick on the old DCS engine. I'm sure most other people using this trick can too. But having the absolute perfect trim makes a lot of things more pleasant, long distance journeys for example. That's particularly important when the old engine would move the trim so aggressively on FC3 aircraft that you're always going to overshoot and never have a properly trimmed aircraft. It isn't a replacement for knowing how to trim aircraft - its a tool to make the casual FC3 aircraft more pleasant. Full DCS aircraft never needed it as they trim better anyway.

For those that are unaware, the bombs he's dropping during the "CCRP bomb strike" section are CBUs, or the normal kind of cluster bombs like the ones used by US planes. They just don't have a very big spread. Bomblet dispensers used in the "Cluster Bomb (dispenser)" section aren't traditional cluster bombs like you'd see on US planes.

  • @archil770

Maybe I missed it, but the Su-25t has an autopilot that maintains the flight direction in CCRP mode, it is activated if you press the autopilot button while the trigger is pressed

I believe it is important to mention that by turning on the laser ranger (RShift + O) you will get an accurate impact point. Useful for targets in the mountains as I believe by default it shows an impact point at the sea level.
The laser range finder will overheat so its important to turn it off after rocket/bomb run is done. Especially applicable to Su-25 (not the T variant)

Playing a lot of Foothold, I've actually found rockets incredibly useful in the Su-25T, and the Mi-24P. As long as you pick the HE/Frag rockets instead of the HEAT ones, they can be immensely effective against infantry, trucks, radars, launchers an even IFVs (depending on the size of the rocket, S-5s are almost useless S-8s are good for anything below IFVs, S-13s can take care of a lot of stuff). They are by far my favorite method of clearing out large SAM installations with many launchers and trucks spread around, though of course that assumes the something has taken care of the air defenses beforehand.
As Iain Christie/Sidekick has shown though, the rockets aren't really THAT much of a standoff weapon. The upper end on the range cues in the Su-25T are definitely pure area effect region, but once you get to under 2km, towards the bottom of the range cues, you can really start sniping stuff with them.
Against actual TANKs though, they're almost useless, yeah. Thankfully the Su-25T can take on a whole lotta Vikhrs and still carry a buttload of rockets, hehe.
EDIT: S-5 against self-propelled artillery? Yeah that ain't gonna do anything at all. The S-5s are horrid against almost anything. Good example of how picking the correct targets for your weapons matters a lot, and even then it'd probably have been better to come at the artillery from behind.

With guns, rockets and bombs, it is good to use the laser pointer (Lshift + O) as it acts as a rangefinder and adjusts the pipper according to the target's elevation. Without the laser, you may have a significant margin due to the target's elevation.

One feature in the T that I found super useful for CCRP is using the Shkval TV to set a CCRP point. It's drift corrected too, and even from 20-30K feet altitude the bombs will hit pretty close
It's obviously not precision bombing, but if you do cluster or mass level boming on area targets, selecting the center of the target area and dropping big ripples from above ManPAD range is pretty doable.

Go low and notch, so you'll be almost invisible to his radar
Try to establish visual contact, so you can spot the launch of R27T / ET missiles
Keep dodging while dispensing the correct countermeasures and make use of terrain features when possible

@@fonesrphunny7242 I usually go low and notch, parallel to the plane, but still get hit by a missile. Sometimes missiles fly over the cockpit but most of the times I can still watch them land a hit on my wing. If I use up all of my countermeasures I can sometimes get lucky, but if it's an open field with no buildings to hide behind I'm screwed. So with that if I know a missile is about to hit me and notching/countermeasures aren't working do I turn away from it? Do I go up? I can only go a little bit lower. There's usually not enough time to turn and shoot the missile with a fox 2 - and most of the time it doesn't work.
