This is one heck of a review. You showed off the little hidden a gems and benefits of this knife better than any other I’ve seen. So much so that I’m no longer dithering about getting one!
just picked this one up to add to my collection of Spydercos and i have to say - for 95% of lightweight, daily tasks - this is the one. can't get over how light it is. amazing.
Absolutely beautiful review. I want to do my own review of the dragonfly since I've carried mine for a full year it's been on my waist even when I sleep, but then I see this one and think there is no point you've done an awesome review.
I just ordered my second Dragonfly (I lost my first), to join my Spyderco Chicago. I have loved my Spyderco knives. Fabulous job with this video. Wonderful observations & lessons all around! I saw the length of the video, thinking I’d move on. I watched the whole presentation. Excellent!
I still love this knife. As a matter of fact I'm out of town right now. When I left home I stopped by my knife collection to choose a knife for the trip . . . the dragonfly made it into my pocket.
With all due respect to BladeHQ's lock tests, their methodology on that test was flawed: they put their wire loop right over the lockbar of the lockback, effectively pushing it into place when the motor started pulling. That is probably the reason why the lock didn't fail and the blade broke. I think they should have moved the loop further up the handle to avoid any direct interference with the locks.
This was one of the most in depth and thorough knife reviews I've ever read, and I read a lot of them. I have had my Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189 for a month now and have used it as my EDC since. I love this knife and the presumed millennial who stated the video was too long......I've said it all.....millennial with no attention span. All of the fine details that you pointed out in this video are what this exquisitely designed knife is all about, and what other reviewers have missed. This knife is a scalpel. Make sure you strop it often to avoid what I assume will be an arduous sharpening process with ZDP being such a hard steel. GREAT REVIEW!!!!! Keep it up.
Just ordered one after a few years of hesitating. I wasn't sure if the price was reasonable for such a small knife, but I'm sure it will do me well based on your review. Thanks a lot!
@@Mr1Alex91 The very first one I got was a nightmare. Long story short, it just wouldn't get sharp. I tried everything, didn't work. It was so bad I had to order another one. Thankfully the second one was good and got crazy sharp very easily, it's my sharpest knife. I don't know what happened with the first one. Overall I really like it and it's the knife I bring with me when I go places where people are scared of knives. Nobody's scared of the Dragonfly and they all think it's cute, which is a good thing since it punches above its weight and I can still have enough knife on me at all times.
@@jelaienfinue Glad you didn’t give up on it and glad to hear the second one served you well 👍, yea that’s one of the things I really like about the knife, I don’t get stares like I’m Hannibal lector or something when I pull it out unlike my other knives lol
Thanks for this informative video. I’ve been looking for smaller companion to my paramilitary 2 and this one helped me alot to make up my mind which one to get.
11:10 after washing your hands, while they are still slightly damp, apply some lotion to those "metacarpophalangeal joints" (and the rest of the hands.) Great review.
My EDC is a zdp-189 Delica 4 and I find it already quite small, I doubt the utility of a shorter blade except for some specific tasks like opening boxes. Have you ever sliced a piece of cheese with your Dragonfly? I doubt it, too short.
I dream that one day Spyderco will make a larger Dragonfly3? that would be between the size of the Dragonfly2 and up to the size of the Delica 4 or the same size as the Delica with upgraded blade steel options other than VG 10. Am I wrong or it that dream messing with perfection????
Great video ... It sounds like you're a Doctor ? The Dragonfly is my favorite knife ... I have it in H1 because I live on the west coast of Florida ... The zdp189 is a great steel but not real friendly to the salt air and humidity down here ...
The steel is awesome. I've had this knife for a couple of months, use it every day all day in a warehouse. only had to sharpen it once. The blade is so small it sharpens quick and easy...Tough little workhorse
I just bought the salt 2 dragonfly with the H1 steel or whatever I don't know it's my first Spyderco knife just going to try them out I usually carry a Kershaw and nothing else but everybody talks about Spyderco everybody has one so I got to see what it's all about jumping on the bandwagon LOL
You need a popfilter, or put the sound down because we can hear your mouth sounds..... It sounds like Markipliers silent letsplays Else the vid is ok... i guess To long for such a review you did No practical review so... yeah still its ok i guess
sorry to say, but its a 30mins tabletop review with no practical showing at all.. this is way, way too long for such a review. shouldnt be longer than 4mins.
This is without question the nerdiest, most detailed overview of this wonderful knife I’ve ever watched.
And I loved every minute of it. Great job! 👍🏻

This video is like a love letter to this knife.
Wow! What an excellent overview of the knife. It's as if you were the knife's designer.

Just bought one in zdp189. Great review!
one of the best reviews ive seen. thanks
Glad you liked it. :)

Ty for your video. Was well done and I enjoyed it.
Very good review. The Dragonfly 2 is still the masterpiece IMHO. Perfect design in terms of both aesthetics and function.
Great review! Just ordered mine
You are going to love it! This month I used it to cut out a bunch of carpet. It really is my most used knife.
Great Review and it happened to be about the Knife I'm most interested in at the moment, eventually I'll have to get one.
I know what you mean. I watch all these videos about it and look it up on amazon, but I just can't pull the trigger on it
Stunning review mate enjoyed every fact filled minute thank you.atb paddy

Glad you like the review Kenneth.
Such a useful review! Only that on 11:10 that is the proximal interphalangeal joint, not the MCP. Just a heads a up haha

How has it treaded you so far? I have just a little over a year with mine, I love it more and more as time goes on

oz for oz gram for gram this lil babe cuts
Your knowledge of the human hand's proper nomenclature has me wondering to your background and training

Glad it was a help for you. So many knives. . . so few resources. :)

Gaaaaaayyyyyyy!
Great review!
very detailed review. very useful. thanks!
Thanks. Glad it was helpful for you.
Nice, you have wisdom and smarts.
I have a lot of knives and this is the one I carry the most. The Dragonfly 2 is the most underrated knife until you own one.

Great idea. The dragonfly does come with upgraded steels. Mine has ZDP 189.
I gotta lotta love for the Lil Dragonfly

H 1 is the perfect steel for your situation. :)
House of Wisdom Thanks I like your channel so I just Subscribed ...
Welcome to the community! :)
But is it hurricane proof? 🤔
I love the green, but is it worth a steel that's harder to sharpen??? 🤔 Very informative review and well worth watching.
The steel is awesome. I've had this knife for a couple of months, use it every day all day in a warehouse. only had to sharpen it once. The blade is so small it sharpens quick and easy...Tough little workhorse
I wish canada had these prices, i wish i liked delica but its just to small for me
If the delica is too small but you like the design, get the endura

I never understood the craze for Spyderco's knife profiles. The dragonfly I like somewhat, but many of the others are simply not appealing to me...
calangel they’re not made to look nice
@@kevn420 not just the looks, the short and wide blade has less use as a knife...they pretty much feel like expensive box cutters.
That is Not how you close a lock back.
Your hands are older than your voice.
Dragonfly G10 still the best!!!
It feels cheap unlike the benchmade griptilian
Really cause the standard griptilian scales feel cheap to me as well. It's the reason it stays in storage.
Mini bugout is better than the dragonfly. Same size, better steel, one-hand operation.
You need a popfilter, or put the sound down because we can hear your mouth sounds..... It sounds like Markipliers silent letsplays
