One question... why can't the Falcon controller, running as the player, be powered down when not running a show? It has a real time clock with battery backup so the clock should continue to run. Just power the controller up before the show is scheduled.
OR does the Falcon boot up in controller mode and not player mode?

You are correct, it could be powered down. You will need to install a battery to keep the real time clock accurate. The battery (CR1225) goes under the OLED on the left side of the board. Sorry for my misleading comment. Pinning your comment so everyone can see it. Thanks.
@@trevilights Thank you. I just tried it in player mode, made a test schedule, powered down, powered back up (it came up in player mode), and the schedule/show started ok.
So the controller can be switched off during the day and powered up BEFORE the schedule starts. Good deal! But YES the battery DOES need to be installed or the clock will not continue to run when power is switched off.

I am just re-watching some of your instructional videos again for Xlights and setting up Falcon Player, mapping your props into the player and then into Xlights so everything aligns properly, creating a sequence and saving it and scheduling it to run the show scheduler and I want to say that I find your videos so helpful for me, one who is considering setting up a show for the first time. Your videos show all the aspects of how to use the software e.g. FPP and this video of how to use the Falcon controller for s stand alone show are exactly what I am looking for. Keep up the great work for all of us considering getting into the hobby. Your videos have helped give me the confidence I need to go ahead.

I also wanted to add that when using Xlights, make sure that the file format file/preferences/sequences// FESQ version is NOT V2 VSTD (the default). The player cannot import this version and will give an error. I use V2 ZLIB because the file size seems to be the smallest and uploads quick.
Also, you can upload an MP3 file to the player. It will be converted to WAV after it is uploaded.
I found this out by mistake and it worked great!

Gracias por tus videos son muy buenos, la información que das es bien clara y ayuda a aprender como hacer estos shows de luces, quería hacerte una pregunta, existe otra marca y tipo controlador que haga algo parecido al F16V3, ya que acá en Mexico se me ha echo difícil conseguir, ademas de que el proyecto que quiero realizar es no tan grande como los que muestras, felicidades por tu canal.
Hola Rafael, muchas gracias por tus comentarios. Te recomiendo el Kulp K8-B. Este controlador es el que uso ahora en vez de los Falcon. Tengo entendido que Wiredwatts.com hacen envíos a México. Son mas económicos que los Falcon y hacen exactamente lo mismo y más confiables. Hacen modelos con 8, 16 y 32 puertos. Cada puerto puede controlar hasta 1600 pixeles. Saludos.

What if one is using 2 or more controllers? Are the other ones set up as normal with the 1st one as the player? Are they connected with Ethernet?
Hi Mike. When a V3 or V4 controller is set to player mode, there is no comunication with other controllers. You would need to set one controller as Master and the other one as remote. I have never done this with Falcon Controllers, sorry. The best way (and recommended) of using two or more controllers, is to have a Raspberry Pi or a Beaglebone using FPP to run your show. FPP will allow you to declare each of your controllers IP addresses and their channels to use. Hope it helps. I will probably make a video on this topic. Thanks for asking.

Hola excelente video cuando puedas lo pasa a español. Una pregunta cuando haces la grabación de las luces como el árbol y los cantantes como haces para q se vea la imagen perfecta. Lo e realizado video pero la cámara me capta mucha luz y no se ve bien
Probablemente sea cuestión de la cámara, prueba con otra. Yo no he tenido ese problema, saludos!!
Hola. Lo que hago yo, es en mi celulcar (Android), toco la pantalla sobre una de las luces que estoy grabando y me sale un circulo con un candado y un barra para regular la luz que capta el lente. Para que no se salga de foco, toco el candado para que se cierre, y luego deslizo la barra hacia la izquierda para que entre menos luz y se vea mejor.

On my f16v4, when I input the correct count of 96 and a size of 510 under the ei31 tab, it doesn't hold the change even when I save it. What I mean is, when I change the controller to Player mode and then go back to E131 mode, it reverts back to the default values. I'm on build 20 as well. Might need to go back one version.
Yes. Everytime you switch between Modes the E131 Tab gets reset. It should not, but is does. I hope it gets fixed in the next builds. One think you can do, is use the "Save/Load Settings" option on the Status page. It will save ALL of your controller settings into a JSON file on your PC. You can then load that file again and the E131 page will be reloaded with the correct values. This option is like full settings backup. Its' good to do one backup once in a while.

Hey Danny. Yes, the V3 can also be set as Player. But there are some limitations. When in player mode, the number of maximum channels is cut in half, meaning you can now only control just over 8000 lights. Also you will need an audio card compatible with the V3 which I could not find in their site. I think running the show from a Pi is the best option.

hi trevi I have some questions, how to set the real time clock which is if you are in other country and different time clock? and also if the baterry installed is there any sign of lights ON in the OLED of F16V4 when the power supply if OFF.
Hi. In the settings menu you can set the time and the time zone you are in. It may take a few tries to get it right. The is no battery indicator that I am aware of. You may want to take a look at the controller manual to get more details. Since I do not use the controller in player mode, I do not have a way of checking for this.

Hello. The positive (+) side of the battery (the side with the writing on it) will face up when installed.

Hola travi estoy tratando de poner todo junto ( el f16v4 ) y el raspberry pi pero e visto esta vídeo y tiene algo firente es su pantalla y ami no me aparecen los canales del contrlller así le agradezco de ante mano si puede darme una idea por como ago trabajar los dos juntos

Ya se a lo te refieres. En la pantalla de los puertos de pixeles, abajo del botón de 'Save' hay una opción de dice 'Addresing Mode', selecciona 'Absolute Addresssing'.

Hola Miguel, gracias por ver mis videos. Ya probaste reiniciando el control de fábrica? Perderás toda tu configuración pero tal vez podrás recuperar el acceso al controlador. Pasos: Quita la energía del controlador. Busca un mini botón en el controlador marcado como SEL. Presiónalo y mantenerlo presionado mientras aplicas energía y mantéenlo así por 5 segundos. Checa la pantalla a ver si te da una dirección de IP e intenta accesarlo.

Hola una pregunta mi controlador no responde trato de subir mi secuencia y no me dejo como puedo subirla ya sea directamente ala tarjeta o directamente al controlador gracias por sus consejos y sus vídeos
Hola Miguel. Ya probaste sacando la tarjeta SD e insertandola en tu computadora y copiando las sequencia a la ella? Despues reinserta la tarjeta en el controlador y reinicia el controlador.
Cuando le aplanó al botón para subir la secuencia solo apárese como si la va a subir y se apaga o se desaparece gracias
@@miguelfraga5241 Si tienes una tarjeta SD en el controlador, verdad? Formateala de nuevo. Con la tarjeta SD insertada en tu computadora copia los archivos fseq. Despues inserta la tarjeta en el controlador y reinicialo.
Subir una secuencia vía wifi puede tardar minutos.

hi I would to like ask a question, that the stand alone F16v4 or ready to run . can be played the show using only the animation in the player mode without music because for me its hard to do with music for my show so i will use only the animations is that alright? for just a biginner and small show just a christmas tree thank you.

Try saving your sequence in other version, I think Is the menu, File/Preferences/Sequence/FSeq Version. Select other that is not V2.
