On his one-thousandth birthday, an evil leprechaun selects the descendant of one of his slaves to have as his bride, leaving it up to the girl's boyfriend to save her.
A detail for anyone who didnt spot it: the special whiskey he orders is actually alcohol free, so he tricked the leprechaun into drinking the proper stuff while the old man basically drinks whiskey flavoured water.
That’s an old bartender trick for when customers want to drink with you while you’re working. Can’t be hammered handling cash and credit cards.
@TipsyGizmo You are a 110% percent correct about this bc me, and my Dad did the same thing when we ran our bar for 5 year's we had a vodka bottle with water in it when someone would want us to do a shot with them and we also had a Crown Royal bottle with sweet tea in it.

That's an aspect of the Leprechaun that I've always liked and that helps to set him apart from other movie monsters, that (for the most part) you have to consciously mess with him in order to attract his wrath, if you mind your own business then he has no reason to cause any harm and actually can be relatively amicable. For example, I recall a scene in part 3 where he meets an Elvis impersonator, and he genuinely jokes with the guy in a friendly manner.
Yeah, that part was great!

actually he varies.. he's true Chaotic Evil in the sense he may horribly harm you or he may leave you alone entirely on a whim and that is more frightening than a villain who always harms.. Leprechaun does and will harm people who have done him no harm, he just has a capability to also leave people alone if his violent impulses aren't there at the moment.
It’s not even about consciously messing with him, just don’t touch his shit! It doesn’t matter if you take his gold by accident he will murder you if you do. Meet him randomly and ask him for a couple beers and he might actually be pretty chill

And that’s why Morty was a genius in this scene; since he KNEW the leprechaun would get mad when he insulted his drinking prowress. He used the Leprechaun’s own pride against him!🤣
Honestly though, he should have used harder stuff as the night went on, so the Leprechaun would eventually pass out; NOT an easy task considering the creature, but it IS possible.
Later, he did even better by trapping the Leprechaun in an old cast iron safe; rendering him powerless and unable to escape.
Why an iron safe? Because according to folklore, iron is the only weapon effective against Fey creatures, of which the Leprechaun is a member. Whether for trapping, injuring or killing, “iron binds the Fey.”
Too bad he messed up a few seconds later by asking for the Leprechaun’s pot of gold; it COULD have gone well, BUT he didn’t word his request carefully enough (something he SHOULD have remembered since the Fey are known tricksters), so he got it LITERALLY in his stomach.😓
Genius move now keep him entertained with the juke box dummy. So many plot holes
The little people cheering for the leprechaun had me dying with laughter.

@@johnotoole5786 actually, “Freaks” came out much earlier than the 70’s; and if you look carefully, some complete versions of the film are still available, just not on main streaming sites.
It’s still an amazing film today, partially because the freaks in the film were real!
Especially the armless, legless guy shown rolling, sealing, and lighting a cigarette all with his mouth!

That's literally how a vacation in Ireland went with my dad and myself. He's an alcoholic and I do drink but not like him, and this Irish dude drank us under the fucking table. We literally did a couple shots and the asshole starts downing the bottle.

Only ever saw the 1st movie & "In Space". The first has alot more horror focus but had a moment here or there...not that I remember what they were since it's been about 30 years since seeing it. The latter definitely had fun factor. I get the feeling that as the series went on it got more & more goofy. Warwick Davis seems to have had a good bit of fun in the roles.
