- Just Music. Luciano Pavarotti sings "La Fleur Que Tu M'avais Jetée" from "Carmen" by Georges Bizet in this recording with the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra conducted by Leone Magiera.
I have not heard Pavarotti sing this before . This sounds like the young Pavarotti .
Most Beautiful Singing , at his best !!!
Incomparable. There is only one Pav; and, for me, he remains peerless across the entire repertoire.
I have a version of Pav singing 'La Fleur' on a playlist in my car at the minute that is so fantastic I keep it on 'repeat' when no one else is around. Of all th e versions available- and I think every tenor has tackled it- his is, for me, the brightest and truest.
Yes. So great.
Very beautiful,This is an example of why Pavarotti was so good.Enjoy
Carmen is my second favorized opera! And this area oerformed by this voice is simply beautiful.
This is French….
I never knew he sang this aria... this was a very pleasant find!
Absolution perfection! love love love this,,,its everything!!!!!!!!!!
I was quite surprised when I heard this. I was expecting the ultra bright, really bitey quality I am used to from Pavarotti. He sang this with a warm color that is just perfect for french Singing. Bravo Pav!
When I see the name Pavarotti, I expect only to be amazed by his brilliance.
Thank you, God, for lending us this Angel.
RIP, Maestro.
He was always good in lyrical repertoire. He was not nearly so good when he sang spinto arias.
@@marksmith3947 Are you kidding? EVERYTHING HE SANG WAS MAGNIFICENT. VOICE CONTROL, VIBRATO, PASSION, SOUL!
He was the best (after Caruso). So effortless. So beautiful.
had no heard this Pav recording,it ist is much better than I expected considering his preference to italian operas.......JRT
Beautiful singing ! Bravo PAVAROTTI:)
With every other tenor you hold your breath hoping he can hit the high note. With Luciano you never have to worry: his high notes are spot on.
Sweet, nice and calm. Unlike the passionate del Monaco, desperately in love. I adore Pavarotti but I still prefer to feel Jose's passion and despair here!
I did not expect it will amaze me like this...wow Che bravo😮❤
Stunning!
La fleur que tu m'avais jetee,
Dans ma prison m'etait restee.
Fletrie et seche, cette fleur
Gardait toujours sa douce odeur;
Et pendant des heures entieres,
Sur mes yeux, fermant mes paupieres,
De cette odeur je m'enivrais
Et dans la nuit je te voyais!
Je me prenais a te maudire,
A te detester, a me dire:
Pourquoi faut-il que le destin
L'ait mise la sur mon chemin?
Puis je m'accusais de blaspheme,
Et je ne sentais en moi-meme,
Je ne sentais qu'un seul desir,
Un seul desir, un seul espoir:
Te revoir, o Carmen, ou, te revoir!
Car tu n'avais eu qu'a paraitre,
Qu'a jeter un regard sur moi,
Pour t'emparer de tout mon etre,
O ma Carmen!
Et j'etais une chose a toi
Carmen, je t'aime!
Merci!
Thank you!
Now I remember I had heard that more than few hundred times, that is why it's so memorable for me.
When I had a cold, when I was lonely, when I was sad, his sing had healed my soul.
Actually I bought the CD 30 years ago and that was excellent CD.. the name was 'Pavarotti Super Hits!', we could listen 'Caruso', 'Vorale', 'Nessun dorma' but I really loved his 'The flower song', I don't know why, but maybe because I felt he might sing French Opera with the sencere respect.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Real music.
simply, the best of a long time... caruso? ... gigli ... del monaco (corelli, too) .. then Maestro Pavoratti .. whomever states that he did not possess the most glorious instrument (period!) .. has other reasons to say so ... or perhaps simply do not know that are drinking a glass of the best wine in the world! I had the opportunity of working at La Scala, and was there in the wings as he sang 'Che gelida manina' from La Boheme in 1978 .. all stopped.. time stopped.. the mice from the orchestra pit stopped .... just great ... .. miss you, Maestro!
Well, I think it depend ont the opera: I prefer Corelli for Carmen, Florez for La fille du régiment and Wunderlich for Zauberflöte but nobody's as good as Pavartti for Rigoletto...
But, well, it's personal taste...
Grandissimo in ELISIR in Rigoletto.
Irina Kuzmishina exactly...
Irina Kuzmishina I agree! Pavarotti always made me smile but he never made me cry like Corelli could.
just listen to Jon Vickers performing this masterpiece.. Pavarotti is really breathtaking, but if it comes to Don Jose, then Vickers takes it all...
❤️
wow wow wow wow wow and wow
PERFECTION once again
Simply the best there was.... French is ok but I am just glad he tried a different language.
Luciano was the best. I love his legato and perfect placement. Check out my humble recording of this aria. I love comments..
Smooth as ice cream...
smooth as whipped cream ;) with some pickling sugar in it
Una voz bellísima no lo es todo.
Luciano wrote in his first autobiography that he had a dream to sing Don Jose on stage and he also wanted to sing Werther on stage.
It is a pity only recordings of the arias survived. I kind of hoped that DECCA might have a surprise or two to release toward Luciano's 75th birthday, but it seems we will never know how he could've sounded in both roles.
The greatest ❤
Divino!
Kaufmann performing this is a spectacle and a real treat. He is among the greatest Spinto Tenors of the modern day. But there is just something about Pavarotti's voice. It is so beautiful and bright, full of sun. I just love this performance!
This is beautifully sung... And yet Kaufmann owns this ! None better.
don't be silly
amazing

Pavarotti good tenor the best tenor caruso the wold insuperable more better
Again you with your bass freak
BRAVISSIMO! Just exceptionally beautiful and passionate singing by the PAV!
poi dicono che il bello è soggettivo...
i don't recall Luciano Pavarotti singing Carmen..... (or any non-italian opera)
I think I just had an eargasm...
I'm so sad I can't find a version of this song with Pavarotti singing it :(
Great. I love Pavarotti. This is beautiful. But listen to my Jussi(Bjorling). For me there is just one number one.Jussi Always.
thheijmans even Pavarotti said he looks to Jussi and his own unique way of singing. Jussi is truly a legend.
You must be kidding?! little Jussi?! Just listen to Pavarotti's splendid big beautifully ringing High B (about 3:37-3:43 ) so satisfyingly fulfilling Bizet climactic demands and compare it to Jussi's tight, small, tremulous effort...
2:40 - Triste.
@Y2H that's him for sure
@Y2H
Oh that's Pavarotti alright.
Kaufman too performing this sooooo Greatly after Pavarotty ... mmm ... just listen and get pleasure but warn not to get lost ... :)
For me Franco Corelli the best in this aria
Wonderful ! Bravo!
Incredibile... He is the best of the best tenors ever!
Ma per carità....
Actually that's not the first Pav's meeting with French - in 1967 he recorded La fille du regiment with Sutherland - on YT here you have him performing the famous 9-high-Cs-aria "Ah mes amis" from the recording :-)) And his French was far better in that early rec.
Woooow... 3:35 to 4:06 shivers me especially the B
This is very beautiful but it lacks the thrill and intense passion of Franco Corelli's Don José. I love the raw emotion Franco gave Don José, in the theater and on recordings. He WAS Don José! I guess Pavarotti never felt like it was his role, just like Franco recorded arias from Rigoletto and Butterfly but never performed them on the opera stage.
From where is the photo?
Beautiful but my favourite is by Jon Vickers
Hatte Luciano einen Rotwein-Fleck?
It’s obviously the shadow of the microphone.
Forget it Bill, it's chickentown
@martynblackburn1977 why 'underrated'?
Did Pav ever do this full role?
Nikhil Krishna no, he also sang a bunch of Mozart arias like un aura and il mio but never sang the full roles.
Beautiful but a pity with the loud high B, it is supposed to be piano
It too bad not many truly understand what an exceptional singer Pavarotti was, especially in comparison to DOMINGO or Carreras..... They ruined their technique and pretty much screamed towards the end of their careers. Pavarotti was exceptional in 2nd formant tuning and had a truly solid technique until he got lazy and things started to drain away, however he still had a great technique compared to many others by that time.....
Too pessimo.
Thats bad that he tried it on a micro period.
Here he even with nasality.
But ok, at least try by the only one tenor from tapes
C'est pas pavarotti !
Bad, his voice is too small for Jose
His voice is too small?!???!!! 😂😂😂😂
Don José = Franco Corelli
@@andreagazzara5708 jep
Luciano is good but I prefer Carreras or Domingo!
That’s not Pavarotti.
Lol.
Of course its him.
He is the only one tenor from tapes
This is not Pavarotti lol , still good though
It quite obviously is.
This is not pavarotti
Don’t be silly.
What a terrible French for a tenor of this calibre... Obviously not his thing. Still amazing voice, but text is part of an opera too.
That’s really picking at nits. His French is fine.
