Very interesting conversation, Tracy is amazing. If i may add in the words of Robert Cardinal Sarah "a Church that depends on the decisions of a majority becomes a Church that is purely human. She becomes reduced to something doable and plausible, to the fruits of her own actions, intuitions, and opinions", "We need not a more human Church but a more divine one, because only then can she truly human."
I only recently discovered Dr. Rowland, two or so years ago, when I ordered her book "Doing Theology: Catholic Theology." It was recommended from a trusted source and I thought great, a 'how to' book on teaching Catholic Theology...Well, no! Not directly anyway. What I read opened a world of Catholic Theology to me while answering the many questions I had regarding the Concilium and Communio lines of theology, especially distinct after Vatican II. I now have a much greater appreciation of Dr. Rowland and her other works which I cannot here give due justice. Today's Catholic's do indeed have a steady, Catholic Theologian of whom we can learn from and be proud. Thank you for interviewing Dr. Rowland once again on your show.
Loved this talk, can you/have you ever do/done an episode on Walter Bruegemann? He’s not catholic but still influential and I’d be fascinated to hear your thoughts on the prophetic imagination
It seems to me that synodality, whether or not it is the best means, is trying to address the problem of clericalism and give the laity some responsibility and oversight to mitigate a culture that led to the coverup of corruption and abuse. I don't think that necessarily has to undermine the authority of bishops and priests.
Jesus said when promising the Holy Spirit to His apostles that the Spirit would teach only what Jesus gave Him and not say or do anything contrary to what Jesus said and did.

An “Amen” for the algorithm.

Lay church employees *also* covered up abuse.
