[A Library Battle Simulation]
Library of Ruina is a game that uses the concept of a “Library Battle Simulation”.
You will invite guests to the Library and engage in combat with them to gain 'Books' with their stories.
Battles are played with the 'Librarians' and the 'Guests' using cards and dice.
You can plan against the guests’ moves by looking at the cards they will use and select the most optimal card to oppose them.
When combat begins, how the dice from your chosen card fall will determine victory or defeat in the struggle.
However, the outcome of the dice is not simply determined by pure luck.
Certain effects and variables will shift the outcome of the dice for and against your favor.
Be sure to carefully choose which cards you utilize to win the battle with your guests.
Behold the outcome of your choices and how luck unfolds as your librarians and guests skirmish.
You can go through an exhilarating experience, putting it all on the line with thrills just like betting.
[Conflicts that Build Emotion]
Confrontation in the Library is not just about killing your enemies, it is about heightening emotions.
The emotions of the librarians and guests rise as the battle progresses, and as it grows fiercer and comes to a head, they will surge.
Depending on your librarian's feelings, positive outcomes or powerful effects with penalties can occur.
In addition, as the emotional tension of the guests grows, the difficulty of combat increases, yet at the same time, rarer books can be acquired.
Furthermore, dialogue can appear depending on the situation of the battle and will make one’s viewing experience of the match unfolding even more enjoyable.
[Books Can Be Anything]
A guest who dies in the Library will turn into a book.
These books can be a librarian's body, materials to grow the Library, or new cards for battle.
You can also use books as the parts of an invitation to bring forth another guest.
Invite different guests to acquire various books, then utilize them accordingly.
How you make use of your collection to grow the Library is up to you.

remember, the sweepers aren't the strongest of the things in The City, but that are very numerous and defeat their opponents by sheer attrition if it comes down to it. Hence why even high grade fixers prefer not to deal with them and stay away from them.
The WARP train arrived on time in 10 seconds, just as it always does. As for the smell, these bodies are very fresh and haven't had a chance to properly decay. But, given the surface area, I'd say that it started really fast and really powerfully. Also, welcome to charge decks.

ok tip for later... the order in which you use the Charge cards matter
you can gain and expend Charge in the same scene... as a practical example, if you are at 0 charge and have 3 dice available and you use , and in that order you'll gain a buch of cards and end up with 4 Charge remaining. but if you use , and in that order the you will not get pages and you'll end up with the full 10 Charge...
this is specially relevant for , a devastating card that needs to be used at 10 Charge to go with its full potential

While i will still post them just in case, i *strongly* recommend you to actually read through them, as they are not just random flavour texts, but actual monologues which give a lot of insight into the character's thought process. the warp janitors! i love these guys, partially because their dessigns are fucking sick but also because i looooove the contrast between their casual personalities and the horrible nature of their job, not only it shows how no matter how horrifying something in the city can seem to us, it's everyday business for the people there, but it also adds extra insult to the injury of what happened in love town and to the puppets, it's sickening in the best possible way.

Well, God Damn, Foreman, you're getting good! Great job on handling WARP AND Philip on your first try! The gauntlet of the constant cries from the children exhausted me a couple of times, so I was struggling for a long while with our little unhearing, unseeing and unspeaking coward.
Philip was becoming a gentle and beautiful flower, but Oswald, deciding to speed things up, stomped on it. And then Yesterday's Promise got involved, granting a wish that came from the deepest abyss of sorrow and loathing.
But the fact that Philip runs off AGAIN is just... Ughhhhhhhh.... He simply won't f**king die!

I think it's time to explain the emotion level system.
As to not overcomplicate stuff here's the basics:
You get emotion points per clash (as in per "dice vs dice" not "card vs card"), max/min roll, kill and ally death.
Each time you raise emotion level you gain +1 maximum light and fully restore light, additionally you gain extra speed dice at lvl 4.
Once you reach maximum emotion level you no longer gain emotion points.
You can see emotion level progress of different characters on bottom left and right of the screen
Planning the emotion levels is a very important aspect of the game, that full light recover is juicy as hell.
You can also stop enemy momentum by deliberately not clashing with them
More detailed explanation on emotion points:
You gain 1 positive coin for clash win or 1 negative for clash lose, but no coins for clash draw (except when it's 2 offensive dice clashing, in which case both characters gain 1 pos coin)
You gain 1 positive coin for max roll on a dice or 1 negative on a min roll. You gain *no* coins on fixed roll (like 4-4)
You gain 3 positive coins when you kill an enemy (kills via status effects don't count)
When a character dies for any reason - the rest of characters on that team gain 3 negative coins
Going left to right is usually easier than right to left in the invitations order, the only reason you had that much problem with sweepers is honestly because you didn't use enough pierce attacks against them
Hes also gotta do general receptions when entering a new tier using some of his gotten books. It makes things so much easier. Especialy with whats to come.

I know you've probably grinded the fight at the end of the episode, but I'm gonna say this anyway. Just hold off grinding till later, you'll get a useful tool that makes all other fights much easier to grind in a sense

Dang, using Kim without yield the flesh? Still, Kim is an amazing page, and is usable throughout star of the city
Pretty sure there are better pages to use if you're not fishing for Claim Their Bones, which just never happens because of excessive power anyway unless you want to take a lot of damage that Kim can't actually tank or you're in the only fight where you can get away with it except Claim Their Bones is useless there anyway.

Fun little fact during the Crying Children boss fight, Philip never once actually hits you directly with physical attacks; he conjures statues of Yuna and Salvador to physically attack for him.
And if I had to guess what his threat level is in Lob corp standards, he'd be a WAW.

"Balanced" as much as Ruina can be, which isn't much at all. We have the unholy combination of Puppets and Emma along with Yujin and Kim here.
I actually love the Crying Children fight. He tests your ability to build decks for long sustained fights. If you had been neglecting Light Regen and Card Draw cards before now, he really hammers in how necessary they are. It's also long without feeling too tedious, because he changes form frequently and it's all a very manageable level of bullshit. Plus, the music, as usual, elevates fights like this.
Rose's page with a speed focus can be a lot of fun in yeasods floor I recommend trying it out

The fact that the Warp Train is working "as intended" shocked me more than Love Town itself. It's just so, so wrong... that this "Love Town" is just another day for some people. Anywayyyy, now that im done with the actual video and not just the snap reaction to warp jannies, some actual important things happened. First, we're gathering ever more distorted characters, and they're all dripped out of their minds. Gotta love project moon for their lovecraftian horrors in nice tailored suits. Also Pillip the third is a notorious fight, most guest receptions dont get much longer than that, although some certainly try their best. And, fortunately for your wallet, this should be the last Mili for a while(fun fact, im pretty sure Mili is actually the name of the group, not the singer). The song itself should be named "and then was heard of no more". The Pillip key page itself is... oddly not all that amazing? It's fine, the story it has it good, but burn synergy isnt really a thing rn. But it does look sick.
Now it's time for me to fanboy over the warp crew again. Their whole thing is building charge and blasting it all in big bursts. Namely, Rip Space, the coolest card in the game(subject to change, but the fact it's in the running says a lot). Not only is rip space just a beefy hit when it works it also draws cards for you. One fun combo it you're feeling spicy is overcharge directly into rip space(remember to have overcharge go off first). But yeah, charge decks are good. They're a bit inflexible at times, but they get more than enough raw power in return. Just remember to use power cycle as your light gain card for extra charge. And dont overcharge too much, a lost turn is a lost turn.
I do also believe that the LoR theme cafe had a WARP Train theme at one point, and they sold Rose's cool WARP hat as merch. Perhaps avoid said cafe for spoiler reasons, but that tidbit felt important.

Philip has decent synergy with Malkuth at the moment since he inflicts burn to whoever attacks him, which stacks with Ashes. His exclusive page is also great even if it comes late.
He's not Kim, but he's not bad.
If the grind of books is too much you can always use the NoGrind mod from workshop. I would love to see you play LoR to completion rather than burning out grinding later (or long) stages.

Kind of wish we could get to see some of the non-story encounters that are special, such as Bamboo Kim... for whatever reason I can't find a single video of anyone fighting him (And no, I don't have the game, nor will I play it, because I don't want the trauma from Love Town or [Every other disturbing battle])
Ahahahaha I love how the crying children fight went from : "It's underwhelming, to it's cool, to when the hell does it end, to I didn't drop the page FUCK." Because this was my reaction to it back when I did it.
By the by, The sweeper cards (the named ones mostly) have really good self care attributes, mainly health and mind hauler as they recover their respective stat on hit, very useful for all out attackers with little method of recovery (and make hod's floor supremacy even stronger by giving emmitt a healing factor with health hauler)

Hey just a word of advice before putting your phillip to the grindstone, you might wanna get more librarians, so you can get inconsolable griefs for all 5 librarians on a floor
Also information assessment is misworded as it as turn ineffective to normal.
Hey, I don't know if you knew this already, however - Light restoration/Charge/pretty much any effect cards' order matters. If you play an expensive attack and then a light regen card, even if you were at full light at the start of the turn, it'll instantly spend the light when each card is used, and the light restoration cards can restore that light. You also get your light and cards back if an enemy dies before you can successfully use them, or a similar situation happens. But yeah, if you use a Charge gain and then a Charge spend card (example: Dimensional Rift and then Ripple), 6 charge is gained when Dimensional Rift is played and 3 is spent when Ripple is played after it, and so you end the turn with 3 charge left.
I hope this message even makes sense, because it will be INCREDIBLY important later on.

Mind you the the terms persona and shadow originate from jugian psychology not persona, and Lobotomy Corp and LoR both pull heavily from these.

Eternal Rest is okay? But again, in Yesod's Floor, "okay" doesn't cut it. It also counts your own librarians for "lowest current HP", which minimizes its usefulness against bosses. Despite its lack of downsides, you'll rarely want this one over your other level 2 pages.
Lament is really good. Metallic Ringing means that you'll have no issue throwing out debuffs, and self-bleed works well with it as well.
Coffin is ridiculous. I don't know what PM was thinking when making this page, but it effectively cuts most enemy's health bar by half since very few non-bosses have more than 3 speed dice. Even against late-game bosses, removing two actions from them per turn is insane.
If anyone survives against Yesod for long enough, this is a great finisher.
Nothing much to talk about in this episode outside Phillip and Charge, so I'll start with the less dramatic of the two.
Charge is effectively a "currency" that you can gain and spend on different things. Charge decks have access to Leap, a REALLY good draw card if you're willing to commit to a charge deck, and probably my favorite draw card outside of one you might encounter next episode. Also, Overcharge and Restfulness fit like a glove, along with Lestie's ability, and although it makes fights slightly awkward, It's one of the most satisfying pages to spam, as long as you keep it to a single person. Also, dice order for tied Speed Dice is left-to-right, unless you are clashing against a higher Speed Dice. This is important for Charge management sometimes, so thought I'd put a reminder here.
As for the Crybaby... I've noticed his fight FEELS a lot tougher than it actually is. The presentation is designed to wear you out and make you go "When will it end?!?!" but the children aren't actually that difficult when you figure out how they work. Of course, going into it for the first time is a lot tougher than after, I'm just putting a few things here for your future farming endeavors.
Step 1: Beat up all the unhearing children.
Step 2: win the first clash with all the other children next turn. When you see the screen crack, you're golden. This will make them all have Fatal resistances.
Step 2b:Because staggering them causes the "On clash lose: all resistances of all allies become Fatal" to appear immediately, a stored Counter or Defense die can accidentally win the clash the same turn, which is pretty convenient.
After they become Fatal to everything, you can effectively trample them. The only tricky part is surviving that mass attack at the end, and even that isn't that hard, since he staggers afterwards regardless. Hopefully knowing this stuff will make the inevitable farming a little easier, cause his pages are honestly really good.

Fun Fact: Once upon a time, before the final pre-release abno page re-balancing, Coffin didn't have a cap and wasn't a 100% chance. Instead it was a 20% (iirc) to seal a die, with no cap and it applied to Mass Attacks and it was considered by EVERYONE who played the game at the time to be one of the most busted Abno page, especially with attacks that rerolls dices like the Sweeper's Trash Disposal. Just by taking that abno page, Metallic Ringing and playing a Blunt deck, you were able to solo most of the late game encounters, cementing in everyone's mind that Yesod was just a big gorilla that liked to smash stuff
Also, the introduction of clown to clown communication is always nice since it's one of Oswald biggest memes and why i really like him
If you’re using Kim’s page then you should definitely try to get his exclusive page, it gives you a extremely powerful counter die that can pretty much obliterate any combat page

Except it's nigh impossible to get that counter page under any favourable circumstances, you're better off either getting a card with higher roll or getting another economy page.
@@anothenblue2630 the thing is, even if you don’t lose the clash, it’s still good cause you’re basically hitting them with a 10+ slash, you win either way, clash win or clash lose, that’s why it’s a good card
@@webber-4144 if you somehow lose, you lose REALLY hard since Kim is only a UN page and if something beats Yield My Flesh, it has to be really strong. You'll lose at least a third of your total SR regardless of attack type, which is never a good time. Using CTB is also a huge investment since it costs 5 on a keypage that will have 8 max light total (IIRC).
You're better off using Fierce Charge (7-12, i.e. rolls 2 higher than YMF on both min and max + inflicts 3 Burn on hit as a bonus) as your dumb 2 cost.

The distorted phillip is a interesting one becaused 1st of all it kinda make reference to the 3 wise monkey + weeping angel (Doctor Who), 2nd the 1st part of the fight the voice are played in reverse + French and 3rd you can see how destroyed the background is since his E.G.O. got destroyed by Oswalt.

Coffin would be good if it wasn't on Yesod's floor with Dark freaking Flame. There's rarely a reason to pick the former over the latter, especially on a properly built Yesod floor. What's the point of sealing dice if a single Solemn Lament combined with Dark Flame will annihilate most enemies in the game in one use?

How come you don't have Combat Preparation on your nugget or anyone else for that matter? It's a really good page even with its terrible rolls because it gives EVERYONE 2 Endurance and you can stack it if you want to get really stupid with it. The whole General Works floor is already using a lot of block dice, it would help a lot.

10:54 ah yes, about Lies abno card, you can use a loophole here, the abno card is red because backlash is some of card cost will become more expensive (red cost color), but it's not gonna work if your deck is full of 3 cost page, so the rest of your combat page become will got lower cost instead increase because Lies can't increase cost combat page more than 3, so if your deck is full with 3 cost, rather than red abno, it's feels like green abno card because the effect you got is only decrease cost, but your deck need many of "Draw card" combat page with 3 cost instead because without it, you'll gonna easily to frick up your hand instead, or maybe you can give some "Light restore" tho, like that "Harsh Rehearshal"
And for Curiousity, it's only good if you don't have any "Draw card" effect combat page, but also gonna frick your card in hand because it's gonna discard un-used card in hand shuffle it again, so you just need more focus on light restore deck if using "Curiousity"
16:16 actually, their chance to restore hp back is decrease by 20% each time they successfull to keep alive using "Presistence"
And btw, you can make your nugget become real boss mob when you mkke them using Yujin key page with "Corpse Cleanup" passive from sweeper, because restore hp effect is not only on allies die, but anyone who die in battle, they will restore hp, because you know right, how many is Yujin HP at 100% hp bar
This strat only good on long battle like Sweeper kind or Crying Children and you'll meet that kind of long battle in future while the game progress

When the biggest difficulty spike in a game about books is reading itself! Really enjoyed this episode, still sad we don't really get more of the W Corp. Agents, thought they were really cool and fun with the little bit we had of them. You managed to deal with the Cry Children in your first go too, the fight is indeed both annoying and awesome at the same time. One of my favorite tracks from the game too, "And Then Is Heard No More". You're at the point where the game starts really picking up too, in story, fights, everything. I hope you're ready for the kind of wild ride Library of Ruina starts becoming from here on out! Also love that Philip is just Pilip now, such a strange & adorable nickname for him lol.
