Great review. Better than some of of the others I have seen for the 2020 PDL. I've seen it person and its an Awesome Kayak. I have a 2018 Predator PDL and Love it. Transducer mount is the best upgrade in my opinion.

Great overview. I think this kayak is a great bang for your buck considering Hobie’s current pricing. The only thing holding me back is the high center of gravity. If there was a way to adjust to seat lower I’d definitely buy one.

Old Town makes some good Kayaks. I really think that Kayaks are at a point now where if they go any further your better off getting a boat. A trailer to haul these things and practically need a boat launch now for one. So given the speed behind this and the tremendous weight my next kayak is going to be a boat.

What do you do with the power pole if you carry on a car top ??
I would love to see how it handles in shallow water. I push pole and fish shallow flats in Pensacola. I currently fish from the new outback but I’m looking for a second for my kids to go out with me. I’m leaning towards the PA just because the pdl drive worries me in shallow water but for the price I could learn how to work with it.
What's the width of the tankwell? Wonder if my AO36 will fit crossways.
Think the side handles are more for reentry after a tumble then for carrying
I would like a better location for the accessory tracks in the back for the possibility for installing Boonedox landing gear for such a big kayak.

Another amazing video comparing the 2 kayaks 👏👏 I like the new features and the speed of the new predator if stability is a concern on the predator maybe you can rig it with some pontoon stabilizers and then do a new review with them on. In the surf and offshore and try to flip it 🤔🤔
What’s the difference between the Predator, Topwater, and Sportsman?
I've been offered a Predator PDL and it looks the right Kayak for the inshore waters where I am, it will never see lake or river. Although its brand new, I think it is the first version of the Old town Predator PDL, because the Bow hatch is the thumb twist to lock type and not the one hand B-cord type, also the rudder control knob doesn't have the locking mechanism, but everything else looks the same, I cant see any difference in the hull, except I don't think the paddle catch is on the side as shown in your review. I guess there was an earlier version of the OT-PDL before the one that you just reviewed. I cant find any info on Old Town site, but thats probably because the have discontinued the Predator PDL. I reckon the OT-PDL is better in the chop to say something like the latest Hobie outback although, the mirage drive technology is impressive. Nice Review, thanks.

I like the old front hatch style better than the new front hatch... I think I'm better off with the predator XL and I can get the Minn Kota console later on if I want it but that's still an awesome kayak

I think I need to put a CL and up to offer to buy one of these for $1500. That seems like plenty to give for a non motorized yak to me. I love OT, don't get me wrong. I've been in OT canoes for 40 years and my OT Pack is my queen of my fleet and as good today as 13 years ago when I got her, but pricing a PDL within a few bucks if a motorized version seems silly.

Mainly in southern Texas, South Padre mainly. You can catch some around Port Aransas and occasionally in/around Galveston.

No, it still goes straight up and down but I had the Power Pole mounted so it appears to do what you said.

13-14ft is needed these 10ft or so are to small.Really hate the small bow hatches/ closed bow I like an open design for fish bags or coolers.....Dam 13ft it sure looks smaller as far as storage area

This trumps the Hobie outback in so many ways. The Outback is over $3k now and this is $2500.....

@@kendragon2827 Cant please em all....I've owned an outback and now have a PDL and huge difference in Kayaks. The PDL suits my needs for the type of fishing that I do. I need something super stable, super fast, dry hull and hands free instant reverse

i just dont understand the hype about this kayak. i would rather run lure 11.5. better seat. just as stable. pedal drive. but the seat is a the big seller for me. ive sat in that old town seat. it doesnt compare. . not saying its a bad boat. its a dam nice kayak. i just dont understand the hype.
Why too much $$$ for a kayak my ascend fs12 was 500, minkota 55lb trust motor around 200ish I think, 101amph battery $60. Aint worth no $2500 for that
Quality doesn’t compare. Comfort doesn’t compare.
Very true had to raise my seat up 8" for a more comfortable seating problem solved on that. But as in quality the ascend fs12t have great review on that and mines going on 5years of heavy use no quality issues ascend uses very good plastic.

Things I didn't like about this videos:
*Apples vs. Apples = competitors have the same stuff for 700-900 less
*He's speaking fast and just flying through this video
*Lose & free floating hatch is cluttering
*9 plug holes, that's a lot to worry about and possibly lose
*short seat straps, broken bungee on brand new product, floor padding can wear out or scuffs
*117lbs, after accessories 140+

I have the topwater pdl 120, old town makes quality products. At least they didn't up their prices due to so called tariffs. Apparently they get their plastic in the USA.
