- A lot of you have been asking how I throw bigger pots so I videoed myself without talking and added a full audio rundown of what I’m doing as I watched it back. I think it really works so I hope it will help some of you.
Remember I love comments and questions and strive to answer everyone.
Lovely to see you potting again. Beautiful bowl.
Welcome back. Tough one to start back, but you never shirk a challenge. Good on you
Very glad you are back and throwing again.
I love that type of commentary throughout the video; head and all! Live taping without editing a lot is so much easier to learn from. You are an inspiration. Family first. Love your pottery and glazing techniques. Glad to hear ALL are on the road to recovery. Hope your pottery helps you heal from your long journey!
Thankyou so so much for your support. Very kind. And appreciated.
Hello it’s nice to see you back. I am sorry to hear about your husband, I hope he heals well.
So glad you back. Starting back with such a large bowl is awesome. I may try something big. May your husband continue to improve
Thankyou for messaging. It’s gone bigger 20lb sink x2. Then 25lb sink. And I managed quite well.
Beautiful bowl . I always enjoy your work .
I’m so happy to have you back. I hope your husband’s healing journey goes smoothly. Watching you make this bowl was something else. My biggest piece so far is a little over two pounds.
You wait. I’ve just thrown 25lbs for the third sink. I’m Absolutely amazed I managed it.

Lois I am so happy to see you!! So sorry to hear about your husbands accident! Wow. This bowl is stunning and you make it look so easy!!
Thanks so much for your comments. Xx
I really like your solution to catch trimmings. I think when I steal your idea I’ll clamp the “catching bowl” on the right side. That should keep it in place.
If I had less of the absorber material (hold the bat on) flicking round it would not have been moving.
So lovely to see you back again, we've missed you. Fascinating to watch this, and picked up loads of tips. Thankyou!
Thanks. I had an email from someone who said the speaking wound them up but more people enjoyed my thoughts so I will do it again.
@@LoisHook no way!!!! You keep speaking and sharing all your thoughts PLEASE! They were so helpful! Volume can always be turned down if someone prefers that, but not me. Loved it!
Such a lovely bowl. Am definitely going to try using 3 pieces to centre!

Thabkyou so much.
wow what a year, lets hope all goes well and you both feel you're in control again. Great video, lots of info, as you go through the stages are relevent and happen to me to. im an adult ed pottery student, class goes back on 26th this month. its been a long summer. ive found as the clay size goes up, i feel less in control as im used to keeping my arms locked into my sides for stability, now moving onr arm up and away it doesnt feel stable. the clay chunks when raising the wall, me too, but it only happens when i use a sponge in my hand. i think its because i dont feel the clay i need to push more so ,along with you i push in at the bottem and lift up, for me im moving too much clay because in my head ive got to move it up, i need to slow down, i actually say ,in my head slowly, slow down and it works .....sometimes. i have a mirror, in front of me and still lean to one side, but it is good to be able to see its shape as it goes along.
Just one thing, you were saying 'someone' had said about pugged clay to put it down the way it comes out of the pug, i think it was Matthew Kelly, but ive got it in my head, he said the first chunk of clay is opposite to the pug then the bits on top it doesnt matter. if i find the video, i will add on a comment. thankyou as always for a good video, stay safe and well x
Thankyou so so much for your answer. All I can say is exactly. Totally with everything you say re slowly slowly. I’m sure it was Matthew Kelly. I will also have a look. Thanks again for your support and taking the time to let me know your thoughts. It’s really appreciated.

Peeling clay--- too much pressure with the outside hand. Been there.
I think I did a bit better with the bigger one. My next video shows me throwing the 20 lb put and it’s mad how much I loose.
