I kind of want one to ride back and forth to work a couple of times a week. About 7 miles one way. Are the carrying racks pretty sturdy to strap a small cooler with ice water and how quiet are these bikes with the stock exhaust?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому +7

The rack is pretty solid mounted. It'll hold a 5 gal gas can in a milk container! It's pretty quiet actually

I've got 5,138 miles on my 2017 hawk and I had it delivered to my door for $1,350 a year ago and it's been way more than I ever expected. It's not a crf 250 but for the money ya can't beat it. It's paid for itself in fuel over my truck. If you do the mods and stick to the back roads (paved or gravel) or in town it's a fun bike just expect it for what it is and enjoy it!

These bikes are super popular in developing countries where they are rebranded for the local market. Here in the Dominican Republic, those brands are Tauro and Gata. I have a Tauro Trial zx-250 which is, under the stickers and plastic, the name as a Hawk. The parts for them are unbelievably cheap, which is good because you WILL need to buy them, lol. Tighten everything up after you buy one, changed out the delivery oil, and you're good to go. Keep the bike clean and out of the rain and sun and it will after all is said and done be reliable transportation. Definitely a good value if you take care of it. I think a lot of these bikes get abused and then people think they are unreliable.

Thank you for the detailed review and the $25 promo, I was actually looking at a used BMW g310gs for $5000 but they wanted additional $795 used bike reconditioning fee plus $495 admin fees on top of that making $1300 for perhaps not even doing a $20 oil change ha ha, so thanks to you you made the decision easy, I just ordered a TBR7 for just the reconditioning fees they would have charged me saving $5k play money. So video is worth $5k to me. For those worried about not having a water kitchen, air cooling is preferred in the desert because water just gives you a short beta range before it cooks. In my youth I bought a Yamaha DR which is similar to this bike. I love mechanics, a great hobby.

I just subbed. I purchased a TBR7 from a local dealer. I paid more but something felt right about having them assemble it and knowing they are within 10 miles of my home if I need assistance. I've been watching the company grow over the past few years and was going to buy a 150 scooter. I'm glad I went this route.

@@MotoCheez lol I dunno I literally just got it yesterday and I'm going to pick it up when it breaks 30° out tomorrow. I've ridden older dirt bikes and currently build custom mini bikes. I just want something that I can dirt road cruise on that won't break like a scooter. This particular motor they are using is very simple and a great place for me to start. My first motorcycle was a Honda Vtx 1300c but I'm not trying to ride like that. Too many people out there on the main roads. I like to take it easy.

I see a ton of these bikes in Ecuador. In fact, I have a few pictures of a guy running a contracting business with a 250cc Chinese enduro as his work van. He had spools of cable, a six foot ladder, a pretty big tool box and an apprentice on the back.

I opted for a second hand Honda xr250 in the end..was very tempted to get Chinese for awhile but the Honda served me well so far , I've had to do a few bits in the last two years ,rear subframe and tyres and oil change but that's it ..not bad for a 20 year old dirt bike . My main ride is a chance though, not long bought a brand new Royal Enfield classic 500 in army green... Made in India and not the highest quality but man I love this bike so much ..I've even fitted it with dirt tyres now ..so no you can't diss a cheap machine if it makes you smile 😊

Just titled, registered and got my license plate for my new 2018 Hawk 250. Just to let everyone know that Michigan has no problem titling and registering the Hawk 250, making it totally road legal in this state. Did not need an inspection or anything. You just need proof of insurance and the proper country of manufacture documents.

I was going to buy one of these next year. Should I go efi or carbuerated. I know all about carbs and jets and nothing about efi and its advantages just that it's snappier. But I figure you could tune a carb for that or am I wrong in saying that. Bikes and beards reviewed both and said the efi was alot snappier so it's not a small difference apparently. 500$ difference for reference

MOTOCHEEZ, when everyone else is doing TAT on high end motorcycles, I am thinking of doing it on tbr7 from Georgia to California and maybe back too by different TAT route.
Do you think the tbr7 will make it-?

great! I bought the Hawk 250. am still breaking it in. Because it is simple/cost effective to do i intend to re-jet mine and hope to open up the exhaust/stock muffler. I prefer it be a little louder/throatier but there is no need to replace brand new exhaust components, yet, beyond promoting better flow.

Me and my brother got the hawk becaus of your videos. followed your links to most of our upgrades. so thanks. but for the carb I went with the one with the accelorator pump and it made a big difference in tork and didn't have to rejet but I'm sure I will when I get the exhaust. also since your tips have been so beneficial maybe this will help you. I drilled a hole in that little empty box area under the seat and ran all the wires in and reconnected them so they're not constantly getting elements on and corodeing by the back tire. also I shaved my seat way down and more level so I could slide back away from the tank. Getting my weight off the front. It relieves the weak front shocks and makes the back get crazy traction. my front tire don't try to dip out on me in extreme turns in dirt anymore. anyway love the hawk and thanks for the tips and help and adventures and links.

MotoCheez the name on the neck of the carb is KEI HIN. And the part noumber is PZ30B661812141385.
so the ones we got came with the split cable and twist throttle housing for like 43 dollars. the twist housing looks awesome but failed almost immediately becaus of 2 tinny Phillips head screws and I had to Finnish the day handycap. thankfully the split cable worked fine with the hawks original one. oh also the new carb was set up for a choke cable but the parts for the hand choke from the old carb fit right on so I went with the hand choke.

    Hey Motocheez!
At this point I've seen all of your videos lol I was going to get the Brozz 250 but they don't deliver to Florida and I decided I want to learn more about motorcycles and do the mods myself on a carburated Hawk or a TBR7 if all the components are the same. With components I mean the sprockets, jet kit and chain that you list on your website. If yes, I will go for the TBR7 as I would use it mostly for the road and will rarely do some off-roading. Wish I would know of places to do off-roading here in Orlando, Florida. Love your content, keep it up Cheez!

The company in chongching China that makes it sells it with 3 different motor options and I'm guessing no US importer is choosing the Loncin 6 speed option YET, but probably will in the future. 70-75mph and 17Hp, that's the difference. I have owned many many on and off road bikes but I wanted a dual sport for goofing around on...! I got it from TX power sports,
I ordered it and paid for it on 30 March today is 7 April I could’ve had it delivered today but ask them to please bring it tomorrow which will be the eighth...! I purchased it over the phone and everybody was extremely helpful....! Personally I would rather spend the $1508 that I spent on my new hawk than $8000 on a 250 Honda that I’m going to be doing the same easy trail riding on....!
It will not bother me at all to park this next to my ( Harley ) , if you like motorcycles that just means you enjoy riding two wheels.....!!

Proper mixture basically, if you're too lean or rich it's not good for the motor. Usually once its warmed up you can take the choke totally off. The choke makes it rich when cold in order to start the motor, once it's up to operating temperature you should be able to turn it off if carb is clean and jetted properly
