    Oleanders only flower for a few weeks in FL? They flower for months here in CA - could it be that they can better tolerate semi-arid climates?

    • @EatYourBackyard
      @EatYourBackyard  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, just a few weeks. I think they slow down in Cali, in FL everything is so turbo charged with rain it seems to speed up plant cycles, at least that is what I have noticed. Whenever I go to Cali, I am amazed how slow stuff grows.

      @@EatYourBackyard That makes sense. We have them in neighborhoods and along highway mediums - they’re full of blossoms during the spring/summer but seem to go dormant when it gets cold and rains in the winter. I’ve noticed that native plants grow relatively fast here, but imported ones do grow slow as you’ve noticed. Great videos, thanks!

    A friend that moved asked me to adopt his white oleander(in a pot). He gave it to me when it was maybe 2 ft tall but scrawny. I thanked him and could not believe how quickly it grew! It was doubled in about 2 months and then was at least 7 ft soon after but again was still scrawny. I decided to cut it and try to prop the part I cut off. NO GO. BUT the mom has all kinds of babies so now I have a short bush. I never saw a red oleander and decided to buy one from the nursery. You descriptions seems very accurate on the different kinds. I still do not have a pink one. Any suggestions as to what poisonous plants to plant near it. Now that I think about it, I usually do not see other types of plants with them. Enjoyed your video.

      every part of Oleanders is poisonous, even the flower smell can affect some people, also can give you rashes, sap also, and burning it is a big no no, dogs have died from chewing it, and there has been a couple of deaths in dogs & people, so not a plant to take lightly, but one to consider If you have pets, children that love chewing or touching plants.

    letter “r” that is placed before the letter “l”... Please don’t misconstrue, my question, as weird or “Chicken-Shi-ty”... And for you haters out there, I don’t care what you think of me, so don’t waste your illiterate pontification!!! All I’m guilty of, is to ask an honest question!
