Love your excitement and enthusiasm Shaun 😁 I think the bike is a grower. When I first saw the R18 I wasn’t sure about a cruiser with a BMW badge and styling, and those huge cylinders sticking out. Since then I’ve realised that it’s all in my head, and it’s actually a beautiful and original bike. I like it even more after watching that. I’d have to get some engine bars protecting those cylinders if I was buying one though. 😱
Yeah 100% with u on that , when it 1st came out i couldn't really see the attraction and tbh even before i rode it i was sceptical but after 7hours on it i eas smitten but yeah them cylinders need some protection 👍🏍
A great review, you pair are honest and straight up. Refreshing. Too many reviews that are all fake, so as not too upset manufacturers. Great Channel, that's growing nicely. Faye should have a roll on it.
Cheers for that we really do try and just show it as it happens ... next vid was filmed today with Faye on her own bike but didn't quite go to plan but was still a laugh ... should be out on Fri 👍🏍
That's one hell of a beautiful bike. Absolutely stunning. And it suits you down to the ground Shaun. Now the boss has got bluebell a one seater would be perfect. And the slower pace would be beneficial to you both on tours as you would see more scenic scenery as you're riding. But got to say it's a beautiful bike. Stay safe and take care. Love to Faye...
Cheers Frank if money and space wasn't an object id have 1 in a heartbeat, although on big tours Faye will still be pillion as it makes financial sense so bikes gotta be good for fully loaded 2up 👍🏍
I love your enthusiasm when you out on the bikes, makes great viewing. My and son and me went on one of those BMW test ride tours that went around the country at tail end do last year, he was on the one you rode and I had the one kitted out with screen for touring and both of us had issues with the vibration through the grips and the test rides were lest than an hour, would hate to think how we felt on a long ride. Our hands felt like the onset of Parkinson's when we finished , I am really surprised you did not experience that same issue. Other than that it a beautiful bike, a decent relaxed ride, loved the looks, all that chrome and really enjoyed the ride.
Thanks for that it's very much appreciated but weirdly this had no vibrations at all through the grips and i was on it for 6 hours it was supremely comfortable ... strange 1 that although it's good that different people have different conclusions to test rides 👍🏍
Seen these at my local BMW dealership. Build quality is amazing, love that exposed shaftdrive. I also love all types of bikes, if the bike fund allowed it I'd have one in the garage for a sunday cruiser. For now I'll stick with the do it all R1250gs. Keep up with the fun videos, always find your video's to be very positive and upbeat. Greetings from across the pond.
Watching this again as I'm seriously considering trading in my africa twin, which isn't really getting used as intended. Your enthusiasm is persuading me even further.
Nice one Shaun ya know what I quite like that with the slash cuts on it I think it makes it look less huge without the original silencers be it one or two cant remember . : ) suits you sir : D
Good to see you trying something different Shaun 👍👍👍 they say the R18 bagger and transcontinental have way more suspension travel than the classic version you test rode. It’s a lot of weight to get off the side stand on the bagger versions. That was what I noticed the most between the 2 models. Love to see the channel has grown since I started to follow you both, always loved the banter between you both pure joy to hear that accent over here in Canada. My wife (a Canadian) is always like what’s he saying 😁😁😁 this bagger version is still on my radar they don’t seem to be selling to well where I live, I’ve yet to see one out on the roads. But then again it’s still in the dead of winter 🥶-43c the other morning no amount of settings on the heated grips will help 😂😂 ride safe have a great Sunday 👍👍👍👍
Really hoping to get a go on a transcontinental as heard really good things about them , more torque as well ( not that it needs anymore) but last year bmw were doing the R18 for £99 a month
@@TinsonTour Shaun see if you can get a test ride on an Indian Challenger too. My riding buddy has one it’s the closest long distant cruiser to a sport tourer as in it’s a fully water cooled engine with full fairing and adjustable windshield. It’s a long wheelbase and has tons of power and good handling for cruiser. Not sure about Harley there definitely shorter and cramped for tall guys I’m 6 foot tall and 200lb so they fit me OK but for taller guys there cramped. The Indian challenger is for a taller torso and to be honest build quality is a good as the BMW and power and handling is way better than any current Harley cruiser out there.
This bike actually looks like a proper BMW motorcycle . A proper Reich quality bike with timeless classic styling ,built like a tank & plods effortless like a loco . I reckon the bike suits you Shaun you look right at home on it , plodding around no stress ,just effortless chilled out fun .👍
Now what about your back on that bike as you are sat upright ? I see what you mean about your grip on the RH side, you do favour the outer part of the grip with your hand.
It is a bike that would not work for me unfortunately because there is no way to fit highway pegs to stretch out my gammy legs. A feet forward V Twin is all I can ride these days. Good review though and a nice bike.
Hi Shaun looks like you had fun on the R18 I got offered one has a loan bike but couldn’t down my entry to wide cracking second bike that would make 👍👍👍🙏
Glad you enjoyed it Shaun but not for me. Brought a Pan America Special didn't like it so traded it for a FatBoy , take one for a test ride as a comparison , but just didn't like feet forward. Now back with one of your old loves a GS and I am loving it. Best wishes to Faye.
@@TinsonTour Blimey Shaun. Mine broke down after 27 miles but they fiddled about with it & got it going. Met someone at Harley meet up who is having the same experience as your mate. Ted
Coming from a Fat Bob, I loved the Fat Boy but ended up going for the R18 Classic mainly down to gear shift and confidence when cornering. Fat Boy is a fantastic looking machine though.
They are an amazing bit of gear but with a premium bike comes a premium cost. It is the best sight to look down and see those massive cylinders poking out. I guess you had no problem with the foot peg position or the position of the gearlever, I didn't but a couple of folks I know it was the biggest complaint plus the weight. Didn't worry me I think my Harley Davidson Street Glide Special is heavier. it was lovely ride though.
Yeah I'd heard all the stories about the cylinder position and gear lever but found it perfectly fine so not really sure where that comes from , tbh it was my 1st go on a cruiser so was all new to me but very impressed 👍🏍
Sorry - late to this party. Love the bike and the review👍 sub’d. Soooo true on the adv bike not waving thing. On my VFR waving back/appreciative nods. On my Enfield classic not a knacker. @Tins on Tour Never rode a Harley !!!! Stayed a Harley man for over 25 years until the same thing happened with a Goldwing when I couldn't get a decent trade up from Harley so looked elsewhere and an F6b bagger took my eye and one test ride later it was like WOW what have I been missing all these years
@Tins on Tour Shaun you will find them very similar to the R18, loads of low down torque, will pull in any gear and any vibrations on tick over disappear as soon as you twist the throttle. Plus they sound beautiful. I lent mine to a mate once for a day and he bought one on the strength of that test ride so be careful what you do 😆
