- Video at the end is a snippet of what I sent to my friend. The man scooped up his little dog as it was barking and aggressive. As Arlo is very relaxed and I was chatting with the man about his little dog, I encouraged him to relax and pop his dog down whilst we chatted. He said it's their first dog, not at all socialised and only 1.5 years old. Very anxious and aggressive so he always picks him up when he goes past people. My mistake was that he warned me about the dog and I moved closer to him, but I was about 2 arms lengths away from him, the little dog approached me and bit me on the shin. Then he approached Arlo who was laying down on the grass and bit him on the nose!!! The dog hadn't stopped barking and snarling the entire time the man and I were trying to communicate. The man was very apologetic and when I realised HOW aggressive the little dog was, (silly me thought it was just afraid of other dogs), I gave him some advice. I stated his dog is anxious and aggressive and very challenging for a first dog. It needs intensive training and a bandana with 'I bite' on it or something like that so other people can steer clear rather than him scoop him up each time which exacerbates everyone's anxiety. The dog will NEVER learn without some intensive behavioural training. This little dog has bitten two people and my dog on the nose and it's only 1.5 years old.. I'll steer clear next time.

It also depends on the local laws... In Chicago if your dog bite's a human it can be put down. Here if your dog is on a leash and kills another dog, it's the other dog's fault. I don't take any chances, I've put too much work into my dogs. Shitzu on a leash, Bird dog that's whistle trained. Now it's two boys that are whistle trained but can't be let off the leash. Part of why I love to watch Arlo

TYVM as always I have to keep my big dog on a leash so he doesn't Chomp-n-Toss, after being attacked by smaller dogs. I'm so sorry to hear that it happened to Arlo. Loved the Flora footage and that you can still let Arlo be Arlo.❤ (His teeth are still clean😊)

@@AngieRival give him some Bones 😁 I couldn't give our Sophie beef bones because she was allergic and would have a staff/staphylococcus outbreak. Lucky boys are fine with the big joints over and under the ossa bucca, Big dog destroys it in under 15 minutes. Sophie lost her teeth after the vets cleaning, and two other dog's that have been my beasties. "Does your dog bite? Of course he does... he's gotta eat somehow." I also meant Arlo's teeth are clean because he didn't draw blood/go on attack. The quote is from a sheep farmer with a good dogger to a city person.
@mickk5006 ahhhh now I understand the teeth clean comment.. yes he's so chilled and has never bitten another dog. He snapped once at one extremely aggressive little shit who had escaped it's leash and had a go at Arlo.. Arlo could have eaten this dog, but he's far too much of a gentleman 😊

Heya! 😊 I am considering getting a borzoi, but I'm a little concerned from what I've heard from other borzoi owners that they shouldn't be off-leash (because of high prey-drive). What are your thoughts on this? I would love to have these same kind of walks as you have with Arlo. Do you think it is hard to train recall with a borzoi?
Hi, I'm fortunate to have several relatively enclosed spaces so Arlo can be off leash. His recall isn't great, but he's not that committed to chasing kangaroos plus in the bushland it's harder for him to chase them. I wouldn't say never, but I've only had one Borzoi, Arlo so I'm not an expert on all Borzoi dogs. Cheers!
