It's nuts that these people at Sony still refuse to acknowledge that they have made a series of catastrophic miscalculations that have been +5 years in the making. This beggars belief. Either these people really are this incompetent or they are very scared for their careers.
I would like a actual new game for my PS5. Not a remaster, remake, or reimagining. I just never see a game that is original and tailored for the machine.
Astro Bot is actually an excellent game and it takes advantage of the PS5 to present really impressive physics at a rock solid 60FPS. It might be too little, too late (and too expensive), but it is objectively a great game.
These games have broken the cardinal rule… the majority of characters should be attractive. Doable. There should be a characters for the male gaze, female gaze and have charisma.
09:40 because you can already tell from the people involved in the development's ideologies, they shun anyone who gave a hint of criticism. This is why everyone internally "loved" it. You would be fired or driven out if you didn't.
Yup, they surrounded themselves in toxic positivity and you could tell any form of negative criticism they would try to censor instead of face as they cried about it and called us the toxic ones. These people have lost what it means to live in reality
Absolute banger of a vid dawg, each one is getting better than the last. Really awesome deep dive into Sony and where they seem to be noticing themselves.
It's like episode from The Simpsons featuring Poochie, when the marketers and Krusty were trying to come up with a character that resonated with youths.
I remember seeing somewhere over the last several months that we're watching the downfall of Sony PlayStation. They use to make killer games all the time when I'l was growing up.
Concord needed to sell something over 10 million copies to break even (although some micro transactions could lower that number) and they sold 25 000 over all platforms... How could they claim that is because it released at a bad time? The only way "bad timing" could affect sales that much would be if something like 9/11 happened and your games have a plot similar to that and was scheduled to release just after. Yeah, that new game wont see more $ then in the end of it's name. No one want a Robyn Hood live service game. Sony have been having a long "Hello fellow kids" moment and if they just keep ignoring their massive failures they will be long a lot more money. Helldivers 2 did great, Concord failed totally, you would think someone at Sony would try to figure out why that is the case, if they could figure that out they would earn a lot of money.
Let's say they had released all 12 of those live service games... and we didn't live in an era of gaming where people working in the gaming industry didn't openly hate their customers... at best one single Sony customer MIGHT be able to play and support 2 of those game (3 or more, in they are a NEET). Not to mention how soul sucking (grinding) and time consuming they are. That's not even accounting for new single player games or players back catalogs. And not even accounting real life responsibilities like work and family. Even if all 12 of those game were hits, there simply isn't enough people to keep the games active and invested enough to make them last.
I follow a lot of gaming related channels and I often stumble upon new games and therefore also get ads related, but Concorde were not visible until I saw videos talking about Sony pulling the plug in it. Bad marketing?
Give gamers what they want Sony - Horizon Forbidden West follow-on Bethesda - Starfield(DLCs every 6 months or less) Fallout follow-on Skyrim follow-on EA - Mass Effect follow-on
The 12 live service games push always felt so brute force to me, like they were thinking, if we make a lot of them ONE of them has got to land and be as big as something like fortnite.
Live service games are like an all pork restaurant in Jerusalem. Just because it looks busy doesn't mean there's a big enough consumer base for you to open 20 more. There are only so many people with that much excess time and money.
Concord didn't have its moment to shine which you could chalk up to being bad timing or simply the fact the game shouldn't have existed in the first place.
The 3 live service games that are still being made started their development around the time that Concord started its development, so the games are probably so far in development that they simply can't cancel it anymore. Concord not only sold poorly, there are actually people who hate the game, that's how bad this game's reputation is, no one wants a live service game from Sony again, it doesn't matter how good those 3 live service games are, no one wants them so no one is going to buy them, so we are going to see 3 concord level failures again soon
so they blamed the release date? a quick google search reveals that there is only 2 big players to look out for in August 2024 namely Black Myth Wukong and WoW War Within. Granted releasing 3 days after Wukong can be considered Suicide but Live Service is set for the long run and in hindsight we can conclude that this reason is BS.
As a Playstation owner I don't care about service games. I bought playstaiton for god of war ratchet and clank and jak. Games as a service is something I could care less about. Matter of fact I'm going to dig my PS3 out of the closet when I'm done typing this. I want games not services.
Lifelong gamer going back to the Atari. Long time all in online gamer. MMO’s etc. the predatory live services have gotten so bad that I’ve recently retreated to only purchasing and playing true complete single player games anymore. I just cannot find value in any modern live service game.
I have no desire to be an apologist for Sony/Totoki Hiroki, but rather than just being dismissive of and incredulous toward the cancellation of Jim Ryan's green-lit game portfolio and response to the failure of Concord, I would say it would be more insightful to contextualize these things in the context of Japanese (business) culture. particularly: saving face, risk-aversion, and the hierarchical patriarchy that it is characterized by. that would be the nuanced, non-reactionary, and integrous way to handle such critique, but such a response would probably require some lived experience of such things - something I'll go out on a limb to say the author of this video has little or, more likely, no experience in...
Most organic metrics like video dislikes, user comments & evaluation etc are quickly dismissed as nonsense, and toxic positivity reigns absolute inside Sony development teams (ironically probably a result of a lack of diversity of thoughts and opinions due to hiring practises and HR corpo culture). How could they expect to get real feedback on those games in such conditions?
Fairgames is going to be DOA. Sony should stick to their roots and focus on strong single player focused content, that's where their real strength is. If they want good live service games they could always purchase a popular PC ones before they go multi platform.
I used to love Playstation but after the PS3 the main brand titles just got worse and worse. GOW and Resistance wasn't good enough all the other games were meh or you could get it on xbox too. Now every game is infected with this weird DEI bs I don't think I'll be supporting the company in any future gaming.
I just find it hilarious that they wanted Concord to be the "next star wars" but then copied star wars declining age instead of its growing age when people actually liked it by making a generic hero shooter with no outstanding characters who are so generic and boring to look at with pronouns in their bios. and then charged money for the game instead of it starting as free.
I'm torn on this topic. I think buying fakes is morally wrong from an artistic perspective, but at the same time, the sky-high prices are equally morally questionable. After much deliberation, I chose kislux to buy bags... Perhaps the best luxury goods are things that have nothing to do with money and material things.
The only one of the "big three" that's doing well is Nintendo. This is a great time to be a PC or Switch gamer because the blue and green teams are both cooked in different ways.
Nintendo is morally bankrupt and a shit company that hates their fanbase. Basically nobody should feel bad emulating all their stuff. I know I don't. So yeah, PC as usual being the GOAT.
A heist game being a modern version of Robin Hood would be cool: steal money from dirty politicians/companies and give it back to people they screwed over. Although I doubt this is what we are going to receive.
I stop preorder the Live service game because all of the game are dead not even 6 months or dead on first DLC drop. like Anthem, Battlefield 1 and 5, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, all I have preorde and got fuc-ked.
So annoyed I wasted money on a ps5. Got it for my friend who was a sonypony for diablo 4. He quit before level 25 and haven't talked to him since release.
At this point, you might as well write in red marker on your forehead SUCKER cause playstation really does not have anything but to charge you 600$ or more for a console that may or may not have games except for remaster and remakes or LOU 1 and 2. I'm sorry, but WTF is playstation doing?? They used to be based.. :(
@@pematsering4517 Googled them. But the problem isn't how the game plays, even though selling a game that doesn't work as intended should be punished harshly. It's that the game itself is the problem. Although I do love watching Ubisoft crumble.
Dude, Outlaws is a 70 dollar game, that isn't worth 30 had a premium edition sold by 110 bucks with one of the _perks_ being able to play some days before the _vanilla_ release date. The game was as more bugged than a Bethesda title and _premium players_ had to wait until the regular release date for a day-one-patch that was supposed to fix multiple issues, what the patch ended up doing was corrupting the save data of the premium edition, since for it updated the source code of the save system logic, meaning it could not read or overwrite old save files and the cherry on top is that the patch didn't fix anything substantial. So the suckers that paid 100 bucks got they games hard-locked and the whole point of being able to play early was made redundant, who cares if they _reflected?_ Doesn't change the fact they screwed over their _top_ customers.
It's nuts that these people at Sony still refuse to acknowledge that they have made a series of catastrophic miscalculations that have been +5 years in the making. This beggars belief. Either these people really are this incompetent or they are very scared for their careers.
lefties never admit their mistakes
I would like a actual new game for my PS5. Not a remaster, remake, or reimagining. I just never see a game that is original and tailored for the machine.
I was with Playstation until PS4 came out. Didn't buy it untils years later because there really wasn't anything I wanted to play on it.
So sony has no games?? Where have I heard that before
The only brand new game I can think of for the PS5 is Returnal. Everything else is either a remake, sequel, or remaster.
@@shaundavidssd
No they don't. And I'll repeat it for you again. Playstation 5 has no games.
Astro Bot is actually an excellent game and it takes advantage of the PS5 to present really impressive physics at a rock solid 60FPS. It might be too little, too late (and too expensive), but it is objectively a great game.

and good story telling all things they refuse to give
Sony needs to move their HQ back to Japan. They need to get out of California.
Yes more out of the woke land
we just have to get rid of california
"Yeah most of our recent projects have failed, but Helldivers 2 made a bunch of money so expect more live service games." -Sony
Seems they have yet to learn their lesson. Don't worry the gaming community is an excellent teacher, and we're still willing to teach.
09:40 because you can already tell from the people involved in the development's ideologies, they shun anyone who gave a hint of criticism. This is why everyone internally "loved" it. You would be fired or driven out if you didn't.
Toxic positivity and delusional optimism. It's a cult-like process.
Yup, they surrounded themselves in toxic positivity and you could tell any form of negative criticism they would try to censor instead of face as they cried about it and called us the toxic ones.
These people have lost what it means to live in reality
its insane to me how they have decades of experience and are unable to study the market at all
Bloodbourne 2, just saying, it’s literally money just sitting there waiting to be picked up
Will probably he a PS6 lunch title
Im pretty sure they know, they are just deflecting and giving excuses for investors

'kids' wearing their hats sideways is almost as bad as 'adults' wearing their caps backwards...

I’m so over Sony.
Thanks for the video guys, keep it up

Can we have Payday2?
No we have Payday2 at home.
Payday2 at home: Fairgame
You need people from the industry to lead the industry, not any white collar around that doesn't have any idea of what games area about.
Exactly. Studios are led by corporate types now. It wasn't that way in the 90s

Exactly. Live service is something where people don't want to get into a new one when they quit one. The market is ever shrinking.
I follow a lot of gaming related channels and I often stumble upon new games and therefore also get ads related, but Concorde were not visible until I saw videos talking about Sony pulling the plug in it. Bad marketing?
Terrible game. Marketing wouldn't help it.
wheres the source for Concord costing $200 mill? and then all of a sudden its $500mill lost

Sony - Horizon Forbidden West follow-on
Bethesda - Starfield(DLCs every 6 months or less)
Fallout follow-on
Skyrim follow-on
EA - Mass Effect follow-on
The definition of insanity is to repeat the same act, expecting different results. WHY had nobody told this to whoever's in charge of Sony?!
It would be so funny if we pulled a morbius on concord. Like "hey sorry we were all at work"
Very happy the market rules over corporate policies, they can make all the cringe crap they want, the market decides if people buy.
Yeah… how about giving us some good single-player games instead of live-service slop nobody wants, Sony? No? I guess you know best, right? RIGHT?

You should want fairgame$$ game to fail. Live action games are a horrible model that needs to die.
Horizon lego game did worst than concord on steam 😂
You must watch a lot of Luke Stephens
Is this clickbait? PLEASE tell me this video is clickbait, because this feels like a joke. Is this a joke video, or is this a Sony bashing video?

Remove all alphabets and type 2s from the industry and it will rebound.
