It’s so cool how Tom lands in the same place he flipped from while Nile travels in the air. The diving vs. gymnastics training really shows. You see this especially at 1:44 and 1:52.
its interesting how tom (diver) shoots straight up and lands in like the same spot he took off, but nile (gymnast) travels more in the air. just the difference between the sports!
That is because in diving all you have to do is push the board down and ride it up, as the board will always push you up and out. In gymnastics you have to work
@@leilamonahan he is mainly a platform diver so that's not the case. In diving, you always want to land as close to the board as possible so you can get the most rotation in

@@linnigoldsmith756 yeah he has abs, but the upper body he mentioned does not refer to that. It refers to the upper back and chest area that are pretty developped in Nile's case, however not as much in Tom's.
Tom's ability to take directions and apply them to essentially complete the task at a first go is incredible. As well as with the corrections he's given when he doesn't necessarily do it right.
It's incredible to see which skills/techniques are transferable between sports and which aren't. Obviously they both are good at flips and balancing and core strength. You can tell Nile has more upper body strength while Tom struggles with those events. I really liked the "sport swap" and would love to see other athletes try your sport and you theirs
It’s so cool how you can see the difference in the training when they do simple skills like back tucks. Nile pushes out to get his momentum to rotate while Tom is trained to stay as close as possible to his starting point.

Watching Tom do floor flips I guess it's so weird and he seems like he gets so much height and so much more technique like Its immediately obvious he dives I guess. It was really cool to see the contrast of gymnasts and him
tay qwad Divers take tumbling classes, and gymnastics-lite, basic flip turns. Try Daley on anything that requires upper body strength for longer than two seconds, endurance, flexibility or balance. Basically the essential stuff about gymnastics was not even touched upon. What Daley did was just ...get up onto the apparatus.
No one talks about the impact force of the water. Tom makes it look so simple, guess he's used to hitting the water. Nile is such a great athlete, I knew he could go diving.
Abs are more in the core area. "Upper body" the upper part of the *torso*, so shoulders, arms etc. If you compare these areas, it's pretty clear that Nile has more muscle mass in places like pectorals and back for example.
When I was younger, my mother used to tell me stories about her days as a gymnast. It used to make me want to be a gymnast myself, but unfortunately my family never had enough money to get me into it. After stumbling upon your channel at the age of 20, I have been reminded of how badly I wanted to do gymnastics and have now started purchasing equipment so I can train at home (I am going to try and get classes, but from what I can see those are for children). Now I use your channel as motivation to learn as much as a can and become as skilled as I possibly can.
My too favourite boys. You went to my school Tom and as a nurse I helped care for your dad Robert at Derriford Hospital. I have lived in Eggbuckland most of my life x both you and Nile are such role models for young people. Thank you for all you both do. Great vlog!!
It’s interesting seeing how differently they land their tumbling. Nile kind of squats into his landings to help absorb the impact and generally has more control whereas Tom kind of buckles his landings
2:22 Tom's flip is just so beautiful, he keeps his legs perfectly straight the whole time then tucks his arms under just like he's diving! Awesome to see how he brings little bits of divings into gymnastics. Also, he's a natural at this. I had no idea gymnastics and diving were so similar!

I love how open Tom is with being gay. He also has that great, bubbly attitude to everything! It makes me want to be open about it too, I'm just not ready.
It's so cool how you can tell in which sport each trains just by looking at pace and body position and physique and transitions and stuff. Tom absolutely nails the given move with his hands coming down in his footprints, because that's how you eliminate splash when entering water. Nile has more adaptable and fluid movement--as much control, but to a different end. Tom seems to set up quick action and precision based on filling 10m of free-fall, and Nile clearly is comfortable with meeting a surface around his height. Like watching a violinist and a pianist tackle the same song. Love these videos! The human body is an incredibly adaptable instrument.
No the floor moves to different heights, so it will be a certain level when people are swimming to people who are diving which will be lower. When they cover the pool they have it as high up as possible so if somebody falls onto the cover they are less likely to drown quick that if it was at swimming level height.
