Most exquisite \ Soul stirring music. Perfection, measured Alana a, swarms, nereval etc. music that is made to sound easy but requires years of practice to strive and achieve this standard
This is such a treasure! I had no idea she had performed in the US. I would have been a 1 year old in Canada during this performance, but I feel blessed now to live in the city where the brilliant T. Brinda once performed. 🙏🏼 Thank you for finding and posting this wonderful gem!
Simply exquisite. Veena Dhanammal's family of hereditary temple musicians were simply incomparable. It would be so nice to have the lyrics for the opening viruttam, if someone could manage it.
@@shreeraam_22 of course you are correct, there are no lyrics in the opening alapanam. Brindamma sings a lovely, relaxed, delicate Mayamalavagaula alapanam before Tyagaraja's kriti "Meru Samana."
A lovely upload! Many thanks for sharing this gem with us all. I notice that the description attributes the Varnam in Sri Ragam to Pallavi Gopala (I assume you refer to Pallavi Gopala Iyer). However I've heard a Varnam 'Sami Ninne Kori' with an extremely similar melodic setup, with the Sahityam featuring the Ankitanamam 'Garbhapuri', suggesting that it was composed by Karoor Devudayya (Chinna Devudu Krishnaiah) and Karoor Dakshinamurthy Sastri. So does there exist another Varnam by Pallavi Gopala Iyer with the same melodic setup?
The labelling was done by the university (presumably with the advice of T Brinda). However, any telugu padam was referred to as “Kshetrayya padam” by the family. So that being said, it is not a good source either.
Presence of God in her eyes
T Ranganathan is so good on the mridangam. What clarity!

have to credit my teacher, Robert Garfias, for instigating this and having the discernment for this priceless treasure.
@@shreeraam_22 Isn't the pleasant-faced and mustachioed gentleman Jon Higgins?
@@karthiksubramanian5942 he is commonly misidentified as John Higgins. I forget this gentleman's name. Will get back on this.
The legendary merusamana!! They make it look so simple to sing
omg 27:49 she sings a bit of Amba Neelambari.
this is an invaluable video! gives immense happiness. its unbelievable to see how effortlessly she churns out the complex sangathis..
That smile bordering on almost a controlled laugh, lovely

they made the song clear to the point .. nothing more than that.....very spontaneous artists.
Bhaktimayam. Eeshwaraa. 😢
Music in its purest form. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you very much...

Thank you for your comment :)
Brindamma does not sing a viruttam in this, she sings a brief alapana before the first track "Meru Samana"

Beautifully preserved for posterity! Is the Varnam (SAmi NinnE KOri) in Sri Ragam composed by Karur Devudu Iyer?

வயலின் இல்லை. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
No amplification, no electronic drone, measured taala-keeping. Music from a bygone era!
is this the only video available of brindamma playing veena?
Yes, in public platforms.
Where is the microphone? I think only one for the entire musicians
Yes, it is a single mic concert. The mic is seen around 8:47 (placed on the floor)
Who is playing tamburi?
Jon Higgins perhaps
