Melody just flows from Prof TN Krishnan's recitals. What an accomplished violinist ! As an accompanist he has played violin to all the stalwarts of carnatic music - Ariyakudi,Chembai,Semmangudi,GNB ,Madurai Mani Iyer,Balamurali,KV Narayanaswamy so on...list keeps growing. Thanks for providing this wonderful recital.
www.youtub e. com/watch?v=xhTSNFi1vhI The tune can be heard here, and I have mangled the URL only because many times I find that comments with a URL in them disappear. The Vande Maataram that follows is in the voices of Hndusthani singers Sumati Mutatkar and Dinkar Kaikini. (सुमती मुताटकर + दिनकर कैकिणी). Only the first stanza was chosen because Muslims objected to lines like त्वं हि दुर्गा दशप्रहरणधारिणी which contain references to Hindu Gods. A friend has 500+ recordings of Vande Maataram, but the composer of this tune remains unknown. One suspect, Ravi Shankar, clarified to a friend of mine that he had not composed it.
Blissful and excellent. The Bilahari and RTP in Dharmavati are star pieces. I truly like the smile and happiness with which he plays. Calm and in complete control of the instrument. I wish the announcer paid more attention to pronunciation. Thank you for posting!
Superb performance by TN Krishnan Sir with accompanists who are masters
