Thanks very much for taking the time to do that man! Much appreciated 😁 Far as the vocals are concerned, Mastodon have 3 vocalists and in this song you're hearing the bassist Troy Sanders and the guitarist Brent Hinds doing harmonies. Glad you liked it!
Their bass player was the primary vocalist on the song and their drummer is the one with the higher pitched vocals. They, along with one of the guitarists, all share lead vocal duties. Their other guitarist only does backup vox.
This is an intro track to the album. It’s setting the vibe and momentum to what’s to come. I’ve never seen anyone get so caught up in verse/chorus structure with metal. Sounds like a critique from a radio DJ. But hey, it’s your first from them. Definitely do more. They have a wide range of songwriting, structure, length and concept in their discography.
please please please do a reaction to their song called "capillarian crest"! people keep recommending mediocre songs on your channel which makes me upset :/
I'm sort of undecided on first listen about the amount of effects on the vocals. Yeah it does sort of all blend together, I get the feeling they were going for that, but not sure if it jives for me. I think the song either grows on you or it doesn't. It's not like you do a touchdown dance as soon as you hear it, and I think that was intentional, they want you to like it for the right reasons. Good fair reaction David!
@@fredbarnes2049 No problem! I highly recommend you check out their first four albums. They're all extremely good, but their fourth album, Crack the Skye (yes, it's spelled that way) is considered by many to be one of the greatest Progressive Metal masterpieces of all time.
Can confirm that Mastodon is not great for running. The rhythms throw your stride right out. But love this band, and they absolutely pull it off live. This is a decent enough song, but by no means one of their best. Ancient Kingdom off their most recent album is superb, could easily have chosen something from one of their earlier more intense albums, but this one showcases the mix of the singers really well ua-cam.com/video/JLJOkFWrPHM/v-deo.html
Just cant get into them. Its the production more than anything. The song writing is not catchy at all and everytime i hear them im left confused and hey that could be an age difference. All mastadoon sounds like the mics are cracking up and theres like a wall of sounds washed together. The song structures dont pull me in at all. Sorry ive tried and tried but im never going to my car saying gotta hear some mastadoon like with metallica slayer or all the greats. I think the production is the problem really its just a wall of sound that keeps bleeding into things and theres no punch. 6 out of 10
Best musicianship / Nicest guys ever / very creative and powerful = Mastodon
The last baron by Mastodon, you'll thank me later!
Underrated album. 7:33 you literally paused it when the chorus starts.
Every member of Mastodon sings, three lead vocalists and one doing backups.

their new album is beautiful
The breakdowns where pretty sick!
Ane the vocalist has a great tone

Nice build up with the intro! This song is really good, Music is solid, vocals were good as well.
Ian - You should check out the entire album man. It's awesome!

One of my favourite metal bands. Col0ny of the birchman is my favourite from them.
Chaotic is always good
Nice

Great commentary. :)

It's actually two of the members singing harmonies. The band has three vocalists and one member does backups. No effects.
@@BakaTheStruggler My mistake. Thanks for pointing that out, Sinscerly.

Definitely not their strongest material. Wish you had a better introduction reaction wise
I love this band. btw This album produced and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz. He is always a guarantee of great sound.
His work with Halestorm and Evanescence is also very impressive
Nick is the shit!
