- Call Me by My Name is a comedy about a young Chinese lady’s battle with her identity in America. She goes to her Chinese name as the source of her problems, only to be met with pushbacks from people around her, and above her - the female general ancestor. These moments make Jessie, our main lady, eventually realize what’s the actual core of her existence.

This "Call Me By My Name" series is brilliant. All the acting is great and in this episode the "white" Jessie does a great job and could almost say she was Jessie in every way except physical appearance - her acting was great. Everything about this series is great.

The "spicy food" moment reminds me of the time I went to my regular Chinese food restaurant (this is London, UK). I'd tried most of the menu over the years and one of the items was labelled "mixed meat" so, out of pure curiosity, I ordered it. The waiter said "you don't want that", I said I do. He repeated "you don't" and that was the end of it. I never did find out what it was. 🤣🤣

I really enjoy the way you’ve portrayed cultural assimilation. Ending with Jesse becoming herself again was great to see! My favorite part is how you played off of people’s perception based on who is seen vs. who they are. Can’t wait to see more!

I somehow fell in love with Josh's character, yeah he is sarcastic/care free and shows he doesn't care much about other people's things like the Greg shows to or does but I feel he does and keeps things subtle and shows it when its needed the most.

Very very nicely done, my problem is I'm always mistaken for every group under the sun, I've even been mistaken for being Asian, most specifically Chinese by Chinese, when going so far as to say I look like her friend who lives I forgot where it is in China, and then ask if my father had ever been to China I had to explain know my father had never been to China, and no I wasn't Chinese and nor did I have Chinese family members in the woman that I was with was my mother, I got the same look I used to always get she's your mother I don't see the resemblance. I think the all this thing I've ever been taken for because I am not that dark has been when an African-American woman looked at me and said am I sure am not African American, and I had to say that I may have an ancestor more than 3,000 years ago who was possibly African that doesn't make me African American, and like the incident above I was asked am I sure, the person's white partner came in and told her she was being racist because she was pointing out to me well your hair is like this the shape of your face your nose Etc and it was the white partner who told her she's being racist.
I've had that experience my whole life people swearing I must be related to I look just like and I have to tell them they've got it wrong I know where I come from I haven't done a 21 in me or 20 whatever in me but I'm pretty sure because of my parents specifically my father making sure I knew my heritage very well I know exactly where I come from. Has there ever been times when like Jesse there in this little skit she put on I have wished that I was somebody other than I am yes, simply because it would mean that I am not related to my mother. This will say that I edit I did not I cannot I don't have to use my hands and I'm using voice to text which doesn't always put things down as I would like it to so you will find words that are missing like there should have been "the weirdest thing was when," instead of the way it was written and I can't fix any of that. So I hope you can make heads or tails of what was written above.
