An under appreciated aspect of Organic farming is the idea that plant and animal health are correlated with soil health (Ie absence of symptoms does not equal health, inner vitality does); this was Sir Albert Howard’s (originator of ‘the method’) main thesis. This video points out the benefits to us of eating foods with activated natural defenses, a positive trait of organic foods, but imo the problem with non organic is not the pesticides directly but the fact that the pesticides allow a grower to get away with growing food in an ‘unhealthy’ soil. From this point of view, modern Organics that substitutes ‘acceptable’ organically derived substances for the synthetic versions is only very slightly better than non organic products. Ie they are still letting the grower get away with growing in a suboptimal soil. Produce grown in poor soil is poor produce. The best, though approximate, guide to the presence of vitality is still taste. While nibbling of crops might confer some beneficial effects on the consumer of such products in the form of elevated levels of particular substances of interest, that is far less important than consuming food grown in a healthy soil. Such plants and animals do not attract pathogens; pathogens that preferentially remove weak plants and animals, and proliferate in their presence (there are limits to this). The skin issue applies to fruit. It makes sense because it’s exposed to the sun. With root vegetables I’d opt for peeling them - there’s too much bacteria in soil (E.Coli) that also sits on the skin of root veggies.
Interesting that pesticides reduce the good chemicals in our food. Yet another reason to encourage regenerative farming. Also, the 60 second rinse will waste water, which is a problem in most countries at this time.
So well explained the difference and benefits of chemical/pesticide driven food vs naturally grown food. This also gives a justification why hydroponically grown food will not have enriched nutrients.
Most " organic " fruits and vegetables are grown inside greenhouses so they don't use pesticides ok , but they don't have to defend against anything ( no insects , no predators , no bad weather) so they have almost no nutrition and less polyphenols. And they are as big and beautiful as non organic . Grow your own in a backyard and you'll notice the huge difference in size and appearance.
Most organic foods are not grown in greenhouses, in California anyway where a huge amount of both organic and commercial food is grown. Please provide a source where it shows organic food has " almost no nutrition".
Re: Strawberries, I read a book about how they are produced and the MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE amounts of pesticides injected 5 feet into the ground...so they are hopefully one of the most extremely noxious examples of pesticide use, but who knows?
Eesh 😢 I did hear they had one of the highest pesticide loads. I buy mixed frozen fruit and put it in my porridge (organic oats). But I looked at organic berries even frozen prices were reeeediculous. I figure the goodness in the berries is better than not having..
USDA Organic Certified produce is grown using a long list of chemicals and pesticides. See, what we consider to be ORGANIC is far, far different than what Certified Organic really is in reality. Not to mention, most all so-called organic produce is grown overseas or on farms which have never been tested for harmful chemicals. Other than the stuff you grow in your back yard, Organic Certified produce is expensive B.S. SORRY
I was thinking the same, they look just as sterilized as their inorganic counterpart. I think the kind of organic he means is local farm organic, not supermarket

I'd rather buy organic with an emphasis on buying local. From farmers. Personally, people can say anything about USDA Organic Certified Produce and pesticides but if the science is saying this type of organic produce has more good stuff, something must be better than the conventional pesticides on our produce. Investigating which one is being talked about in the study is key.
I understand that if you soak fruit in water, baking soda, & white vinegar it cleans toxins out of fruit skins & if you rinse doesn’t impact taste. Question is does it impact nutritional value of fruit?
I just wash all my vegetables in cold, soapy water, and then I rinsed them well in cold water and there's no soapy flavor or anything because they all have skin on them. I even wash my melons in soapy water. Switching them around in a little bit of baking soda is ridiculous, because the skins actually need to be rubbed with a washcloth in soapy water to remove any residue.
THE STUDIES DONE SHOW THAT THE BEST SOLUTION FOR ELIMINATING PESTICIDES, & CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS IS 1 PART SALT W/ 9 PARTS WATER. YOU SOAK YOUR PRODUCE IN THAT WATER FOR 10MIN. IT'S BEEN REPORTED BY DIFFERENT DRS IN THEIR BOOKS, CONFERENCES AND ARTICLES.🙂 ✌🏾💚
Question for Dr Li. Isn’t one of the reasons gluten is causing leaky gut and issues linked to autoimmune disease due to the glyphosate that’s used in the US to dry it? Hence when we eat pasta/bread is parts of Europe where glyphosate is illegal to use, we have no sensitivity issues.
Here in UK they still use Glyphosate on their crops and there are many cases of gluten intolerance or celiac - so yes the Glyphosate is the major issue now. But also processed refined wheat flour without the hull also makes it harder to process/digest the wheat gluten and can cause autoimmune issues, leaky gut, diabetes etc as it basically gets stuck in the small intestine causing damage and is absorbed rapidly into the blood hence high blood sugar levels. I order my wholewheat flour organic from abroad and feel much better. Also, you can see videos on Glyphosate by Vandana Shiva who explains why it is causing many health issues.
Additionally, most non organic wheat in the US is GMO and is highly inflammatory. I'm not sure if that's the case in Europe. When I eat organic wheat products I still get bloated. But the non organic is worse in my e xperience
Hi Dr's. Thanks for the amazing insight. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto about 2 years ago. We recently started growing our own foods (where possible) and they taste amazing! What is your take on eating meat (people with Auto-Immune diseases)? Should we consume it? I heard that it increases inflamation in the body. If yes, probably the organic meat, right?
I am not Dr. Li but I work in holistic health and healed my Hashimotos. We tend to absolutely need grass fed red meat, AI folks have a form of anemia that can be hidden but very symptomatic. I was told I was low normal iron for decades when I was wildly anemic, turns out it was a copper problem, also common for AI folks. If the copper in your cell isn't working it cant let the iron in to do its work, so it is like running out of gas while driving by gas stations - the gas is there but it isn't getting into the car!
@@elizabethheyenga9277wait this makes sense because thats what is happening to me . I have hashimotos and anemia.. but what exactly should we do? problem that you don’t really know if it is organic. Who tests it??. I still don’t see worms in organic apples. as a child i was eating apples , cherry with worms in Europe. Since i came to US never saw any worms in fruits
Yes. All of it. Even bananas before you peel them. Wash your hands with soapy water afterward. Bananas are sprayed- that pesticide residue is still on the peels when you bring them home from the store.
Yeah, I grow cannabis and we are apparently much more educated on horticulture than most "scientists". I train my plants to produce more buds and more secondary metabolites by bending and tieing down the stems as they grow and also focus on the microbiome in the soil. Some growers top plants, meaning cutting off the new growth and two more grow in its place. It is all about promoting secondary metabolites to produce the flavor and effect you want. Terpines are vital and are triggered by some stressors to produce more of one than the other. Basically, take your pesticide plants and train them to stress and you get the same benefits. There are many factors from the PH of the water to amino acids and creatine being used in place of nitrogen. Plants actually love creatine and it saves the nitrogen for later. Thats great due to nitrogen being very easy to wash out of the soil or deplete quite quickly.
Organic production is so much more than a lack of pesticides. It's as much about building healthy soil. Organic food can have more good stuff as the necessary elements to synthesise them are present in healthy soil on rich subsoil. Conventional agriculture basically treats soil as an inert growing medium for fossil carbon derived fertiliser. So much more going on than NPK.
I’m sensitive to OXALATES and saw a video re dried fruits and veggies having a higher load of OXALATES due to the concentration when dried. Should this be a worry?
A 2009 review by Dangour et. al. concluded: “On the basis of a systematic review of studies of satisfactory quality, there is no evidence of a difference in nutrient quality between organically and conventionally produced foodstuffs. The small differences in nutrient content detected are biologically plausible and mostly relate to differences in production methods.” . . A 2010 review also by Dangour found: “From a systematic review of the currently available published literature, evidence is lacking for nutrition-related health effects that result from the consumption of organically produced foodstuffs.” . . A 2012 review by Smith-Spangler et. al. found: “After analyzing the data, the researchers found little significant difference in health benefits between organic and conventional foods. No consistent differences were seen in the vitamin content of organic products, and only one nutrient - phosphorus - was significantly higher in organic versus conventionally grown produce (and the researchers note that because few people have phosphorous deficiency, this has little clinical significance).” .
The long covid autoimmune diseases that he is referring to is also linked to when people go through the cytokine storm and their bodies kill themselves… The cure for this to change the pathway is to take higher doses of vitamin D. I will link a video of a scientist fully explaining this for you..
This is very interesting doctor. He recommends eating dried fruits, which are far more dangerous than the fresh fruits because of high level of concentration of fructose and glucose....
All that is missing is only the h2o. Moderation is key. Newer studies show that eating the whole food matrix with all of the fiber and stuff, actually lowers blood glucose. Juicing did the opposite results of this
It's weird that you would say that organic food is beautiful food because in my grocery store, Winco as well as Walmart, the organic food is less than in looks. A lot of times it got bruises, little holes, and its wrinkled. It's just not as fresh. It just doesn't look as good as the other vegetables. I'm actually researched it and people have been modifying foods of all kinds since men started eating plants. Early Man liked the sweeter fruits so they would only eat those and when they drop the core or seed, it regrows that particular type and multiply that by millions and you've got better fruit coming up everywhere. And then when we found out, we could do that in masses, then we became engineers of a product. So there really isn't a whole lot of problem with GMO compared to the other problems of the world like pesticides and the like.
Just thinking the same thing AND also the way the gmo fruit & vegetables are always going into genetic hybrid by all the science involved- to make that piece look bigger - a lot bigger than what are grand folks had & also, cosmetically altered to make it all look more appealing
much of the "pretty" stuff also lacks other nutrients... grown in hydroponic chemical soup (not the real hydroponic with fish... but with a chemical soup) the issue is it lacks the fungi relation around the roots in the soil when there is no soil... yes it is easier and looks prettier but I bet many have tasted the difference between a store tomato and a homegrown tomato... one tastes like water... the other has a rich flavor... guess what how you grow it MATTERS
Organic food tastes better. I grown up in farm, we grown out food on natural fertilizers like pig manure and didnt use pesticides on our own food. we used them only on produce we were growing for selling. and I will be honest - organic food tastes like food I used to eat in a farm. That reason alone makes me often buy some organic veggies- because its delicious.
Just a tiny snippet of PROOF your statement about "certainly more healthy" is indeed hopefully optimistic but unfortunately horribly untrue: Organic produce accounts for 1.5% of all produce in the United States, but organic produce is the source of 10.4% of all E-Coli outbreaks and infections. Definitely NOT "certainly more healthy". But buying organic is about feeling better about yourself, not about any scientific research or consistent standard of production. Like giving money to a homeless person, the giver is making THEMSELVES feel morally superior or better than the average. Never mind that "homeless" person IS NOT homeless and is just scamming you and their new van is parked around the corner and you are paying their car payment....or IS homeless and will overdose and die on Fent later purchasing it with the money you just gave them. It's not about logically thinking "there are thousands and thousands of private charitable and government social services for that person to use that are NOT cash-they should use that just to be safe. Me handing them money may cause them more harm than good...and likely will given the high rates of substance use and abuse." No, it's solely about the giver feeling morally superior -- nevermind the logic, science, research, or fact. I'm not criticizing either choice, but let's be honest about what they are. The "organic" choice is not based on science (from the consumer's perspective anyway). It's based on buying a good tingly feeling for the purchaser.
I doubt that much of what I've eaten in the last 60 plus years was organic, but I'm still here. You just need to be thoughtful of what you buy. An example would be if you see a vegetable or fruit for sale that is not in season where you live, that means it's been imported and will have all sorts of chemicals added to keep it looking fresh many days after it was picked. Frozen veg for instance are "fresher" than fresh veg because they are frozen immediately at the source of picking. Keep away from sugar and processed ready to eat meals. Drink plenty of water as that flushes your system. Don't be conned into thinking bottled water is superior to tap water. Bottled water in usually sold in plastic containers and might have been on a shelf for who knows how long ! And last but not least. Live your life and don't bloody worry about what these "gurus" think they know.
You can afford it. Just buy a little less. Also organic does not last as long so they always mark that down. Look for it. I personally pay less for organic than other food because I always look for the marked down organic going out of date. You can also make more money somehow or grow your own. Don't limit yourself by a poor mentality.
Btw if what I just said would not work I would just eat less often. Eat only one meal a day. Better to eat healthy less often than eat more cheap food. Fasting is healthy anyway.
@davidhughes6853 🌷 Yes and also because more and more people are dying from cancer; many people I knew … and many dear family members. ‘Roundup-Ready’ glyphosates - GMOs - etcetc. Huge corporate farming concerns … don’t care about ANYTHING except their ‘bottom line’. Big corp. farmers have never really cared about the safety of their field labor. So yes, please buy organic.
I just eat more of the non organic plants. You're not going to get fat eating fruits and veggies. You just need to watch the things you add to the grid and veggies to make them taste better.
The organic movement is so desperately trying to get some questionable science behind their claims. After watching this video I would like to give a few inspirational points for people who might be interested: 1) There is no organic strawberry production without the use of poisonous (mostly) synthetic chemical pesticides, except in your grandmothers garden. It is legal and common practice and it is ridiculous that the organic followers deny that. 2) The nutritional and health problems that we have is that some people eat too much and some too little and not that some cultivation method yields a little more or less of an insignificant chemical. 3) I would not follow the advice to get secondary plant metabolites by eating extraordinary amounts of dried fruits. The downsides from excess sugar is usually far more significant than the upside of a trendy chemical. 4) There is a new trendy chemical or superfood every day. It makes you younger, kills cancer and promotes bowl movements. Unless you have a rare metabolic disease, let´s stay calm, don´t let them freak you out and follow a normal balanced diet - just use your common sense!
It is all about prioritizing what is important to you. It is all relative. I am just glad it is available. In worst case buying less to have good food is better than having more food. Plus you could grow your own even in containers if need be.
@@jerrylisby3440 No it is not. It is not all relative. If you don't have enough money to buy all organics it is what it is. So glad it is not an issue for you but everyone has a different circumstance. You don't live in reality.
@@cactusladysouth1000 not true at all. That is just a poor mentality excuse. Like I said even if it were twice as much you just buy less food. Many options: Buy organic marked down because it is going out of date. I look for this. I pay LESS for organic because shelf life is shorter. You can eat less if need be. Even just eat one meal a day. You can grow your own. Or you can find a way to make extra money. Have a rich mentality. If you think this way it will come to you. People with diets rich in plant phenols have lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, several kinds of cancer, and possibly degenerative brain diseases.
So, by all means keep eating dried fruits: they are full of healthy nutrients. But avoid the added sugars, and keep track of calories."

Thank you so much for showing nutritional reasons for eating organic foods] '
So well explained the difference and benefits of chemical/pesticide driven food vs naturally grown food. This also gives a justification why hydroponically grown food will not have enriched nutrients.
Priceless content, many thanks for the valuable insights. Best wishes from the Wild West of England.
What about all the sugar In dried fruit?
What is your opinion on organic vegetable powder? 👍 or 👎?
Are there foods that help IBS-D? Thank you.
Give me a backyard, please !
Most organic foods are not grown in greenhouses, in California anyway where a huge amount of both organic and commercial food is grown. Please provide a source where it shows organic food has " almost no nutrition".
@@eh3477 In Canada , greenhouses mostly for organic .

Re: Strawberries, I read a book about how they are produced and the MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE amounts of pesticides injected 5 feet into the ground...so they are hopefully one of the most extremely noxious examples of pesticide use, but who knows?
Some of the most dangerous pesticides are allowed on strawberries too.
It’s true.
So organic strawberries? Or frozen ones? Are they better:

JUST COMPARE THE TASTE OF AN ORGANIC APPLE W/ A NON-ORGANIC ONE- BIG DIFFERENCE, SAME W/ BERRIES. THE DIRTY DOZEN ARE THE BEST EXAMPLES. I ONLY BUY ORGANIC PRODUCE ON THE DIRTY DOZEN LIST FOR YEARS AND I CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IN MY HEALTH.🌺✌🏾💚🌺
Wouldn't think so!
IT'S BEEN REPORTED BY DIFFERENT DRS IN THEIR BOOKS, CONFERENCES AND ARTICLES.🙂

I have been trying to consume things with iron like beets everyday but idk if i should do more or if i am missing something. I also have stopped intaking gluten/dairy/soy
I grow true organic, chicken fertilizer, rain and stream water only!
problem that you don’t really know if it is organic. Who tests it??. I still don’t see worms in organic apples. as a child i was eating apples , cherry with worms in Europe. Since i came to US never saw any worms in fruits
I got a list of which fruit/veg are better/worse,pesticide-wise;(from Y-T probly)...
Wash vegetables in water with some vinegar added?
Yes. All of it. Even bananas before you peel them. Wash your hands with soapy water afterward. Bananas are sprayed- that pesticide residue is still on the peels when you bring them home from the store.
Great video. Thank you
Yeah, I grow cannabis and we are apparently much more educated on horticulture than most "scientists".
But I always thought of dried fruit as being high in sugar? Is this untrue?
I think I’ll stick with organic especially with strawberries and tomatoed
Grow your own food that’s the take away from everyone or find a local farmer with good practices
Does this mean don't buy organic as it's sprayed with chemicals like conventional ???

Aren't organic foods sprayed with pesticides too?
If it comes from a supermarket then it's not food. Only way to ensure you food isn't poisoned by monsatan and the like is grow your own
It's weird that you would say that organic food is beautiful food because in my grocery store, Winco as well as Walmart, the organic food is less than in looks.
That's how organic is. The other one has too many chemicals and picked before it ripens
In the old days, when no pestides were available to grow vegetables. People died young. I rest my case.
They died of diseases like polio, scarlet fever, cholera, measles, etc.
@Levy Schroeder I am sure that our next generation will find out the reason why people died before them was from eating organic foods.
@@RichardBrett899 go ahead, hang your hat on that.
much of the "pretty" stuff also lacks other nutrients... grown in hydroponic chemical soup (not the real hydroponic with fish... but with a chemical soup) the issue is it lacks the fungi relation around the roots in the soil when there is no soil... yes it is easier and looks prettier but I bet many have tasted the difference between a store tomato and a homegrown tomato... one tastes like water... the other has a rich flavor... guess what how you grow it MATTERS
I has similar thoughts! Like some people are organic food snobs! Who can afford it and is it really healthier.? I thought, somethings fishy to me.
Often something like a tomato that is half not good from a bug, the other half is tastier than the unaffected ones
What is there to say about anti nutrients (lectins, oxalates etc)
When I read the title, I thought it was going to be some negative earth shattering truth being revealed. Turns out that it was quite the opposite.😅
Organic is beautiful? No, not always. Often the pesticidal units are more beautiful. But they are certainly more healthy.
Organic food is not a trend ~ it’s how food used to be ✌️
If God didn't make it don't take it, if God didn't make it don't take it don't take it, don't take it, don't take it...
I buy Organic food only
Known fact! When I started eating a raw diet my doctor lower my thyroid meds twice in one year!
That's great but I cannot afford to buy Organic. Too bad then, right?
Thanks for all your good advice. 😚

So the plants make more defence chemicals? Why is that healthy?
It's not ! humans are carnivores we're not meant to eat plants ( "plants are trying to kill us" Dr Chaffee )
another example of someone, pro plant based I'm guessing, is believing in the more is better concept when it comes to consuming plant compounds
