I dont like the fact they label things as a virus when it isn't, it doesnt instil confidence in the way they detect threats..
Take Desktop Goose for example, it is in no way a virus, however, it does virus-like behavior such as the goose controlling your mouse for a few seconds.
Windows itself is a virus.
I have heard that Microsoft has a secret regarding the definition of malware. The company often considers software malware simply because said software is open-source. I (mostly) disagree; the proprietary software is often the malware.
I have a hirenths boot cd iso on my one windows pc, it's flagged as malware 4 times a day. And marking it as safe doesn't stop it. Microshit is untrustworthy
Determining if something is or isn’t malicious is an incredibly hard problem, these patchers replace core system components and perform system hooking which looks malicious to AV, as for Hirens boot CD that comes with a bunch of password recovery tool that will sig off antivirus
Windows should ask you what level of security you are interested in when you install, for example if you choose Maximum security it will block anything it doesn't know is safe. But at least give peopel the choice
That is a very good idea and makes total sense.
well for installations u can already do that, just set the control thingy to maximum and everytime u install u need to enter admin password
Agree
Windows has this feature. It’s called UAC and I don’t understand why UAC isn’t enough for them anymore.
UAC is becoming pointless for Microsoft because they no longer want users to be in control. I am also certain UAC will be overhauled or removed completely. They just can't trust users.
If you prevent people from making mistakes, how can they learn anything from it? Is that not the point by letting people choose?
I recently switched to Linux, another couple of weeks when I feel comfortable with it, I will remove the dual boot and just say goodbye to Windows. How dare they tell me what software I can and cannot install :P
Hope it works out
@MichaelDustter bro, their are literally hundreds of operating systems. I'm sure you can find one that suits your needs.
I have already single-booted, as a transitioner from the Apple macOS though.
No Microsoft, you don't tell me what I can and cannot download and use. This is going to push me away, not make me want to use you and your products more.
Its their OS bro
@@danilol9417 Doesn't mean THEY get to choose what I run. Also when they screw it up - as they are headed towards doing (again) - I look to alternatives. I retired recently from a job as a university system admin... We had 48000 users a day. About 15 years ago, it was 98% Windows. About a year ago it was only about 50% windows client systems. This could result in a major shift in things 'computer' for many people.
@@brianjrichman yeah but u agreed to the tos when u installed windows. So legally they get to choose what u run. If u dont like that then switch to linux, because its everyones os
@@danilol9417 When I was still working, we ran VMWare with 800 Red Hat VM/servers and 400 Windows Servers.
Personally, I'd never run Windows on a server, but accountants think its cheaper even if the same software is available on most other platforms. What they do is look to the check they need to cut on day #1, not what'll happen in Year #2. They fail to learn that once the installation grows (they never shrink) the pricing often swings against the low initial "cheap" Windows buy-in price. New hardware allocations are needed and the infrastructure needs upgrading to handle it. I cannot tell you the number of databases that were "trivial" on day 1 and then by day 50, needed a VM/server twice the start up size.
From my previous post, you can see what the client world has done... Apple is the winner here and MS is the loser.
@@danilol9417 NO moron they force th tos up ur ass......and wout we the people there not jack squat
All they need to say is, if you use any of these apps, you are on your own. Sign a waiver and thats it. Apple ain't this aggresive and to be honest, I never thought I'd think that.
Trouble is, as a tech, I remember had bad it was with malware back in the day with Windows, this is not the case for Windows 11. So some good has come out of it.
@@Britec09 I agree, I also worked in the trenches sorting out the computers of the public and I know how stoopid and unresonable they can be. I then moved onto the commercial sector and they ain't no better. Its just we've locked their systems down so they can't break em. 🤣
@@2ToneWalt The only way to protect is to lock it down. I know its not what people want to hear, but this is the way.
@@Britec09 And that's exactly what enables Microsoft to keep a stranglehold over you.
@@Britec09 That's like saying you won't let your children leave the house ever because you want to protect them. The solution isn't what Microsoft is doing.
Step 1 : disable MicroSh*t Defender ( or remove)
Step 2 : don't rush to have the latest updates
Step 3 : curse the new Vista
Step 4 : reinstall Windows 10
Step 5 : open your mind to accept migrating to Linux Mint or Zorin Os.
Thx Brian & Team
Once Linux gets to the level of Windows there the things you hate in windows will eventually be in the dominant Linux distribution
plus it's all open source so you can just pluck what you hate out of it if you want to
Step 5 doesn't work if your core apps either don't run on linux or there is no usable linux alternative. People are quick to say switch from one OS to another one to solve an issue. That isn't always a choice for some people.
Try moving straight over to Ubuntu or a derivative operating system. I have to say that you would most likely be forced to use Ubuntu due to driver compatibility.
@@IdontKnowAtAlllol I do not want to see a dominant Linux distribution. I would like to see codominance of Debian-based and RPM-based Linux distributions.
Fuck Microsoft, they’re making Windows worse with every update.
They are not helping
And me stil on Win7 64 laughing at all of you ja ja ja ja ja stil working like a charm since over 15 year now !!!!😁🤣🤣
One of the exact reasons that I am staying on windows 10 LTSC 2021. I hate 11 and this just makes me not want to use it even more. At this point I might as well move to linux and just use that.
@EustachyRudawski-kc6fh use Linux, switch to Mac, modify windows, pirate windows and give Microsoft the middle finger, switch to an ipad, etc
@EustachyRudawski-kc6fh I could duel-boot Linux and Windows, use Linux as my main operating system and use Windows when Wine doesn't work for Windows apps.
Microsoft should probably change the name of Windows 11 24H2 to Windows 11 Zero Trust Edition. The idea of an OS with almond Zero Trust is good, but it will frustrate a lot of persons.
Windows Titanic sounds good too.
@@Robert-sl7jo 😄 😂 🤣
Microsoft does not want to throw users off of their platform, but I would like you to switch to an ethical operating system in the world of Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu or derivatives.
It's called S-Mode.
“It’s for your own safety”, mmm where did I hear that before 🤔
Microsoft has its own antivirus. Has that software suddenly lost the ability to distinguish between malware and safe software? They have either decided they can't trust their own AV, which, if true is terrifying. Or, they're blocking this for another reason. One thing it isn't, is out of a concern for end users. Because they already have a solution for that. This is redundant.
I don't believe Microsoft is concerned about protecting the interests of the common PC user. Microsoft is concerned about protecting DOD and their corporate user base.
Well, the common PC user is shrinking. I work with software, and do tech support. I'm seeing that more and more young people simply don't even have a computer anymore. It's all about Smart phones now. Most people i interact with under the age of 20, don't own a PC. So i wouldn't invest to much of yourself into personal computers. For the average general home user, they are going away. We have Apps for everything now. You watch UA-cam and Netflix? We have smart TVs for that. You want to use a Chatroom or social media? There's probably an app for that. People use computers to make their lives more convenient. The maintenance of a PC, updates, clean ups, backups, etc. Isn't something most people are interested in, and it's to the point now, with Windows 11, that the PC is more of an inconvenience, than it is a convenience. Don't get to attached. I think in another two generations, we won't have PCs anymore. At least not in the way we know them today.
I've migrated all seven of my computers' overs to Linux. I'm just sick of all the crap Microsoft and Apple push these days. But how many people even know what Linux is? They hear the term "PC" The Windows experience is what they think of. And these days that experience isn't a very good one. Sadley i think the entire Personal computer industry is hanging on that thread.
@@matthewmoore757 Interesting. I've got 3 PCs that I'll probably migrate to Linux before Windows 10 End of Support. I'm thinking maybe MX Linux KDE for a couple of them, and maybe Endeavour OS or Manjaro KDE for one that I might care about having the most updated apps on. Of course, since the pandemic I'm beien working 100% remote and I may soon have to start hybrid, or perhaps even 100% onsite. I'll probably depend more on my phone or tablet at that time.
What’s DOD?

PC - Personal Computer... Time to sue for false advertising!
I like that, remember, you own your PC, but the OS you don't.
@@Britec09 You also buy the license. So the copy of the OS belongs to.
Ah but that's no longer the case. Open up a random explorer. Back in the day it used to say My PC. Now it says This PC.
@@Britec09 This is why switching to Linux is the only ethical option now!
7-Zip blocked, now that is MESSED UP. Also are they blocking any alternative browser installs, I think they'd be in serious trouble with the EU is they did that, at least for the major ones
The UK isn't in the EU. Remember, some people 🤡 voted to come out.
Or is it a case of stopping you doing this so they can then flood you with adverts all over the place?
I think its a good move to protect those who are vulnerable.
@@Britec09 But forcing it onto everyone???
@@Britec09 Computers have been around for tens of years. This is not going to protect any more than it did in the past. In fact it's far more dangerous, because people will start to try all sorts of 'solutions' to get things working again. It's going to break the security that is already there.
This channel is a weird mix, sometimes quite critical towards what Microsoft is doing and offering advice on how to bypass those issues. Aaand then we get something like this which I would expect to be found on a channel called something like "the Microsoft Defender".
Anyway for many years there have been a saying that if you install Windows on a computer you no longer own it, mainly because Windows blocks you from accessing parts of the folder structure (unless jumping through a lot of hoops) so if you can't do whatever you want with your computer, thus not having 100% control over it, then you no longer own it. Stuff like this confirms that saying...
It's somewhat ironic that the techniques Microsoft have implemented to "protect" their files from the user have also in several cases been exploited by malware, making it more difficult to detect and remove, remember root-kits? Those can only hide because a Windows user can not obtain root/system access.
Also as a side note: Check the latest stats for Desktop OS usage, seems like W11 have lost ground while W10 have increased market share quite a bit lately.
I really don't get Britec anymore either. He's always been helpful in bypassing Windows BS and in helping to customize a stock Windows system into something that one might actually want to use. For him to now state plainly that this frankly authoritarian behavior on the part of Microsoft is a "good thing" because we can't be trusted with our own personal computers is disturbing to say the least. It sounds like something that a hynotized "citzen" from some dystopian sci fi novel would say while the last remnant of that character's syntho-mesc dribbles down their chin.
Britec made a video on Linux and bascially came to the conclusion of "I like Windows more because I just do" and ended it with that.
I would not go as far to say his channel is all about shilling for Windows, but he does have a clear bias towards Windows despite the ongoing issues with it. He is clearly unhappy with the direction the OS is going, but he is adamant on not switching to something else. Almost like Stockholm Syndrome lol
@@646464mario Basic Windows was a sleek, user-friendly, super-intuitive operating system. There's a reason why it became so popular. And it could have grown into a shining example of what an OS should be. Instead, greed took over almost immediaely and it steadily morphed into nothing but a parasite sucking the blood from its' users. I can see why Britec admires the corpse of what it used to be, but that's all it is at this point. Even though I have to keep a couple of Windows machines plugged in at my place of businees because of my employees familiarity with that evil zombie, at this point I refuse to have it my home.
Interesting. I didn't know this youtuber until recently, but considering what you're saying here I don't think I'll subscribe or follow him.
Solution:
Use windows x lite or ghost or any other modded window iso for windows software. Then, use Linux Mint for everything thing else.
Staying with windows is like staying with an abusive spouse because you are still attached and afraid to leave.
🤣🤣🤣
Not really. I've used windows for years because most software has better compatibility with Windows. Yeah, you can run a lot of software on Linux, I know, but it isn't as smooth as it is with windows. You always have to tinker with the system or wait for a solution from the community. Until developers consider Linux in the same scale as they do with Windows, let's be honest... Linux just won't compare yet, despite being a better operating system.
Well people stay with windows because it's not a head fuck to open up a simple program like paint. Why would any one in their right mind have to type lines of code into cmd to open a program when double clicking an icon is so much easier. There is a reason Apple turned into what they are. 99.99% of the general public don't care for education, they want convenience, and that convenience has a cost, which they are more than happy to pay for. Look at all the people downloading apps that literally have keyloggers pre installed in the back end but they don't care cause funny dance video hue hue hue.
The good news is the Start11 will work on 24H2 because Stardock has updated the app to work
That's what I use bought it via Steam a long time ago
Yes, it should work
I use Start 11 but also their Fences program (a kind of desktop organizer), I hope that's not affected as well
That built-in protection is the problem. And you can't turn it off.
This may not be the "year of Linux" but I am certainly gonna call the 2020s the "Decade of Linux" or at least the decade of "The Great Windows Exodus"
So you can't even upgrade your video card's driver or install Microsoft Office 365. How do you install these completely legitimate pieces of software? What about installing Steam? One of the big selling points to Windows is game playing. You can't even install Steam because it is an .exe? Or does it analyze the software to determine if it is okay? It is blocking even Microsoft's own software (as shown on the video). Can you clarify? I can see a huge lawsuit coming.
For your office suite: LibreOffice is the dominant FOSS solution in Linux ecosystems.
There will never be an "I use 24H2 BTW" meme.
this made me want to laugh. Actually, it did make me laugh, hysterically.
there is a IoT Enterprise LTSC version of 24H2 already, which is miles better than normal Windows 11 and fixes almost all the flaws
Time for yet another lawsuit against microsoft
Time to move to Ubuntu.
ubuntu is notebook friendly. If you are convenient with android, iPad or Mac, then Ubuntu with its default Gnome should serve you well
@@user-od4gs3iu4t I prefer Mx Linux because Ubuntu can be sort of tricky to configure. To each his own. But just about any flavor of Linux is preferable to Windows at this point.
@@josiahbirthright24 yep, mx linux or linux mint are really noob friendly. great distros
Any distro is good. If you can handle and can understand the command line, then Alpine Linux would be preferred on the most basic system configurations. But yes, Ubuntu is ideal for environments with >4GB system memory even with the GNOME Shell.
It looks like the first step from Microsoft in making sure all apps for Windows 11 are approved from Microsoft. Of course Microsoft will will also require a licensing fee from program vendors before their app can be installed. Maleware Bytes, didn't pay the "tribute" to Microsoft so it can't be installed, sorry.
Big Brother is watching you.
like the Apple Store?
This aggressiveness is pushing me towards Linux distros. As a gamer, this is beyond irritating.
Say good bye to cr-ack games, music, and movies that don't have the proper data and digital license with it. They will just disappear from people devices.
No, I will NOT stop using the software I WANT on my PC.
1) Disable Windows Defender (DO use a quality 3rd party AV and Firewall)
2) Don't use a MS Browser - there are plenty of alternatives
3) If 1 & 2 fail..... DON'T use MS Products
German government has announced it's switching 30k+ PCs to Linux & LibreOffice!
Let's support and contribute to WINE!
True. But there are some possible drawbacks with 3rd party antivirus apps: memory and CPU usage management.
I would prefer limiting the use of WINE to the minimum extent possible, preferring native Linux software over proprietary sources.
Your video is not very clear to say if ALL .exe downloads are removed. What exactly is blocked and what isn't? If I can't download the latest video driver installer that is an .exe file from Nvidia because I have a bleeding edge card that may need the latest driver, what good is this?
My question exactly. Does it block .msi installers? Does it recognise and permit software that is digitally signed by the appropriate authority? Is it strong-arming software developers to use the Microsoft Store, thereby taking a cut of any revenue or even forcing a price onto software that is free at present?
@@dingokidneys I am beginning to wonder if this issue is even real

It does and it don't
Time to switch to Linux.
Is this update out or is it in beta ? At first when you said "it blocks startallback", I was like "yeah maybe they are forcing to use the windows start menu". But then blocking every exe, including things like 7zip or sysinternals, it looks like they are experimenting stuff that will likely not be in the final product or that will be rollback. i don't see windows running without exe files.
I can understand the point of making it idiotproof.
Calling those softwares "VIRUS" is at best a misinformation though.
We're speaking the legit softwares of course, not a bad actor tampered ones.
I can see lawsuits from legitimate software companies over their software intentionally called a virus.
What Microsoft forgets is one I pay them it’s my os I will run what ever app I like so Microsoft can just do one and get lost
No. it's NOT your operating system! You are licenced to use it. Read the small print.
Sadly, no, that's not how it works, at all.
They are moving towards an immutable system, When you start or restart the system goes back to the way it was. This is why most APPS are going online or they will have to go online.
Absolute nonsense. This is not making Windows safer by any means, in fact it's making it far more unsafer because people will start trying all sorts of 'tricks' to get things to work and will be much less targeted on the safety of the programs. Overkill is always death, not matter what.
Please tell me how your pc gets infected? By downloading, so it blocks you downloading .exe and files that want access to windows directory
@@Britec09 I have been using a PC since 1990 and have never ever had a virus or have been infected in any other way and I can assure you I've done all sorts of things with my PCs you can't even think of.
By over protecting PCs they are only making it more dangerous, because people will always find a way to circumvent 'problems'. It's in the nature of the beast. This is the wrong track to follow unless you want to end up with a Macintosh. The attraction of Windows is it's openness. If there's no difference anymore it will harm them indefinitely and they can pack their bags.
This is why I now believe that Linux is the safest operating system. With Linux, much of the code, excluding certain drivers, is open-source and free, so the source code can be tested. So nonproprietary software is the only safe software at all.
What about installing Firefox on 24H2? Google Chrome has this strange blocklist to prevent you from downloading executables - does Firefox has it as well?

The customer is always right, if someone is not happy with something and they have to resort to a 3rd party tool to restore functionality that was previously present but is now removed in the new version then its Microsoft's fault for not even considering the needs of its customers, every version of windows since Vista has thrown more mouse clicks, menus, and tick boxes in the way of users to get the job done and it also sucks more time, under old OS's I didn't even have to touch the mouse half the time it was quick and efficient.
The way for a more secure OS is to reduce its attack surface by not mass installing and running junkware you don't need, want or ever use, it also reduces what needs to be updated too, t
The windows layout is bad too, this is where the UNIX and Linux world has got right from year dot, as they can be easily moved around as and when needed unlike windows... the OS should be just the bare OS and on a separate partition from your Apps and your Data on a separate one to that too, that will make life easy and also quicker to get back up and running after something bad happens - if you do regular backups, as your only restoring the partition(s) that are mangled, windows makes life harder because of the madness of %appdata% dumping crap hidden from the eyes of most users, most users risk everything on a single partition that grows huge in size and can be dificult and time consuming to sort out when it all goes wrong...
Does that include NTlite? I just built a computer and I was thinking about using that for the windows ISO.
I guess that Open Shell is out of the question. I truly hate the Win 11 menu.
Have been using open shell since windows 8. Best tool to replace this useless Windows start menu. 👍
What if you install a different antivirus (which should disable Defender)?
How do I delete items from start menu in Windows 11? There is no delete option for certain items
So you can't download any .exe files, not just programs that let you tweak Windows? Everything through the Microsoft store. How about installing programs through winget?
You mentioned ways to get around this problem (YES, it IS a PROBLEM). What are these ways?
I’ve been watching UA-camrs like you and Mrizos since I was like 10 ish (10+ years ago), I’m now in my mid 20s and work in the security industry and extremely happy to see you have a rational and nuanced take on this, great video. Like you say the programs look suspicious to antivirus because they’re performing activity to patch/hook core windows components, which is extremely similar behaviourally to things like rootkits, computer security has come on leaps and bounds since I first watched your videos on Antivirus testing/reviews, malware and spyware has become much bigger business and the OS protections have gotten much much better
Great video Brian! I am curious, will it act the same way in safe mode? This new version of win 11 reminds me of win S mode..
Couldn't they add an option in the developer menu to disable this "protection? Please make a video on work-arounds to get around these restrictions.
How would you install drivers?
THOSE THAT TRADE A LITTLE FREEDOM FOR FULL BLOWN SECURITY,... DOESN'T DESERVE NEITHER
Does this happen on Edge browser only?
What browser are you demonstrating this with? Does this behaviour still happen with other browsers? Looks like Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows I will be using...as a programmer I can see this blocking my own software...
I think they are trying to go the way of Apple, having to go through their MS Store for anything you want to install and grab a commission.
I think you're right. This is a revenue stream where they haven't yet "maximised their potential." Definitely a feature where the "Product Champion" is from marketing.
@@dingokidneys I believe in systems that are not locked in to any ecosystem and also in systems that are completely unable to boot walled garden and proprietary operating systems at all.
Anyone familiar with Revo uninstaller? I am new to it but from what I understand, it helps to remove all those leftovers the Windows uninstalling software leaves behind. If some of those leftovers were causing problems previously, reinstalling the software won't help. What solution does MS have for this when it blocks any useful software that could fix its shortcomings?
besides, Revo helped me to uninstall a lot of bloatware from Win10. Why am I held a hostage by MS having software in my PC I don't need, use or want?
@MichaelDustter Worse, the OS is not the product... *we* are.
That'll be a video for Luis Rossman
Did you check if " Launching applications and Unsafe Files " is Disabled under internet security settings? Setting it to "Disable" blocks any exe files from being downloaded
does openshell include in the blacklist?
I would hope there could be a toggle in the menu somewhere that users could select that would allow them to modify their windows directory at their own risk. After doing tech support for folks and my own parents, I do understand that not everyone knows the ins and outs of how to use computers safely, so in theory this change could do a lot of good. However, this change doesn't sound well implemented at the moment according to the video.
well, that sucks BIG TIME :(
Don't you get an option to turn that Crp off?
I think this will lead more people to Linux and hopefully it does. I am considering it. I want the apps/ software on my laptop chosen by me not by Microsoft and any other operating system. On my android tablet/phone it doesn't block or prevent me from using apps that aren't from Google because if it did it would block me from using WhatsApp on my phone and the Microsoft office apps on my tablet.
7-Zip.exe is not blocked by Chrome browser on Windows 10?? So this is only for windows 11??
So is this going to block ALL exe files (or ZIP files with exe in them)? Or is it only those on a blacklist of files/apps?
If it's all of them then I can imagine many people will block the 24H2 update. 🤷♂
People already have blocked the 24h2 update
When was the last time EP was updated?
Valve was worried about this blocking exe files. Locking down Windows so you can only use the Microsoft store. There is already a version of windows 10/11 that does this, Windows 10/11 S that was later turned into Windows S Mode, it does pretty much the same thing. So what Microsoft is now doing in NOT new at all, what's actually new it that Microsoft will potentially be enforcing a version of Windows S Mode on all windows 11 post 24H2. Which is disturbing.
KDE is customizable and doesn't require third party apps to stay out of your way.
This is one of the reasons why I probably keeping 23H2 and will do so even after the EOL of 23H2. As long as this system will boot and works.
That being said Microsoft should make the protection system adjustable (turn off/on) in the settings.
The user should make the final decision which apps will run on the PC.
Just as they forced apple to use usb c... Microsoft needs to be sue, somebody need to do this
IVE BEEN SAYING THIS SINCE WINDOWS 8
I agree, but rather than killing a hardware connector as with Apple Lightning, I would like to see the financial stream of Microsoft Windows and various services destroyed. Just like with the universal use of USB type C, the universal use of Linux permits a more diverse range of services.
Blocking exe files is going too far. Considering most windows updates are exe files themselves.
Didn't you have a video showing how to use them? 😂 still love your videos though. Please always keep making them!
Not all of them
Winaro tweaker and openshell are still working for me at the moment, windows 11 pro 23H2. When they get blocked going to Linux.
Well, what if I need to install an .exe that isn't recognized? You can explain to me all you want that it benefits the majority, but all I'm interested in is how I get around it. Don't tell me it's not designed to be gotten around and that my only option is to either run obsolete garbage or do without the application, there's always a way around and I want to know what it is this time. I need a supported version of Windows that will get security updates past 2025, Linux isn't going to work for me, and I need to run Windows applications that are not approved or signed.
Will Windows 11 24H2 block all .exe files including that I download and purchase from legitimate sites such as Intuit? I use Tax Preparation software in Canada.
It looks like future 24H2 builds will now block all exe. files by default unless they’re on a list of allowed programs you can install. If you want future Windows builds, that’s the tradeoff you have to live with. Either remain on 26100.1 or move to Linux.
@MichaelDustter Not on 26100.1. I’m not on Insider so it can’t update to future builds. Nothing currently blocked.
@MichaelDustter That will likely happen. On a secure Windows, an AV is redundant. Since you can’t download and run untrusted software, you’re safe from all malware vectors. This is the way its always been on MacOS and Linux.
I would ask where might this end? Downloading movies, file sharing etc. How far will MS go in determining what we do with what they consider to be their operating system on their computer that we paid for?
Can anyone answer this question?
What sort of downloads do Windows 11 24H2 allow to run?
There's no way that Windows 11 24H2 will block every single download from the internet, otherwise, no one would be using Windows 11 24H2 anymore.
This does not occur on my Windows 11 24H2 LTSC stock install at all I can download those programs without and blocking or anything like you show in the video. Defender and Edge browser are both at stock settings. This video is very misleading and is borderline scaremongering. I daily drive Linux but I need Windows for work, I also work in IT. I do not mind these videos being made but please be upfront about your specific setting and if you made any changes to your browser, antivirus or OS install.
I think you missed the part where this is in the next version of Windows 11 that hasn't been released yet.
@@professorbrainyspecs7366 Nope I work in IT, and I have early access to it. I need it for testing before we do our limited roll out to test for conflicts. We do these months in advance for our computer science programs.
I just do not see it in my testing scenarios that we are conducting. I am able to download many of the same programs brought up in this video. We are actively looking for conflicts such as these presented. The only thing I am asking for is to show what is causing these to be blocked i.e. what settings are implemented on his computer that are causing this.
@jokingtiger then you should have been equally as clear that you were using this next version that hasn't been released to the general public. You made it sound like you are using the current publicly released version.
It is interesting that you have a different experience. However, I am fairly certain that Britec09 is also using the stock install of this pre-released version of Win11.
@@jokingtigermaybe do your own rebuttal video?
Removing useful features and then preventing the software that bring those features back. Literally 1984.
They spent more time preventing than actually adding those features back
We're seeing the latest editions of Windows before users start migrating en masse to better driver systems
I am still with Windows 7 Pro, and I have no wish to get a new system, it does all I want to do. I don't know if there is any kind of bad things going on, but it works fine for me.
And the Supermium Browser will definitely help you stay on 7 for few more years
I wonder how long OpenShell will work. So far so good.
i find it amazing that so many people happily use apple and complain about microsoft but not apple locking things down.
speaking of apple, I have a friend still holding on well (as of 2022, when I last visited her) to a 2010 Macbook Pro 17"
I feel like Microsoft is also trying to be like Apple and making a new standard of what your Computer should be like either you like it or not. Yeah I'm going to be dual booting Linux later this summer.
Hopefully you can single-boot and remove Windows altogether.
I’d love it if you could link me to that Windows 11 page you showed.
Will utorrent , Kodi etc be blocked?
This may actually be a good thing!... for Linux.
😆
Going to push a lot of folks to Mac or Linux, big brother springs to mind.
The more I see with Windows 11 makes me glad I went back to Windows 10
Well how can we install applications then? Since all of them are in .EXE installers
THIS is an excellent question, which the answer to was not clear in the video.
Probably want to push everyone onto their storefront
@@StephenC050 yeah. but ms store is quite shunned..
That's The Last Straw! I'm getting a Linux Computer. Bye Microsoft
Hopefully System76 serves/is serving you well!
Blocking alternative browsers is outright dumb. They're forcing you to use Edge in the most outrageous way ever.
How does the Apple system work, aren't they just as bad?
im on windows 10 so no problem here not going to 11 10 works perfectly for me been using since 2017 if it where not for mechanical hdd failing on me would still be using 10 without reinstalling it but since mechanical hdd sailed on me had to go with 1tb icoolax ssd here
This is being done because of Ai and its rapid development... I doubt this is permanent, they're doing it to protect us from what I'm aware if, not to upset people downloading stuff.
If only Linux could sort anti-cheat, we'd all be gone.
Just play other games lol are you a child.
Give it some time. Of course, the more we migrate, the faster the developers will get there.
The first thing I do with a new Windows PC is download revo uninstaller and delete all the bloatware from the system. The more that Windows blocks software that is legitimate the more they are asking users to switch to Linux. I replaced my 2nd Windows PC that I use on a night to watch tubi TV with Ubuntu on a new desktop it even allows me to run my VPN on the browser of choice, as I deleted Firefox for Brave browser.
Don't know about you Brian but for me 24H2 (preview version) still has quite a lot of bugs in it, so much so I had to go back to 23H2.
I am still using 22H2, but this is because I have a unsupported PC, and don't feel like reformating and might as well jump straight to IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 once 11 22H2 support expires in few months
If Microsoft is blocking certain apps from installing, what is stopping them from blocking all other apps that is not windows related like Chrome or Firefox. They can use the excuse that you don't need another web browser because they have Edge and Bing. I don't really worry, because people will always find a way to bypass windows restrictions. Take Windows 11 that will not work on old hardware. Now there is videos all over the internet how to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
Buy a PC without an OS then you can decide what OS you want to install be it Windows or Linux. Linux runs on machines that won't run the latest Microscam OS be it Windows 7 or Windows 10. Some Manufacturers sell custom or pre-built systems without an OS, some examples are Pallicomp, Xenta and PC specialist, all sell PC's without an OS.
