I always think playing through the entire game and exploring everything is the best way to get your money's worth and the full experience of a game, so I played through the tiers. I'm on world tier 5 now and have one more stronghold, but I'm slowing down to explore D.C., do challenges, get commendations, etc. before I move on.
I kinda of skipped through by just grinding through all the world tiers immediately. I just kept playing main missions and nothing else until I got tier 5.
My group beat the base game and then we went straight to New York. If you aren’t sure what you want to do or if you want to skip but feel bad, I can assure you that there is no lack of content if you skip the world tiers. There is so much to do at end game and skipping world tier is a great way to jump right into all of it and save a bunch of time for people who have short attention spans like me or who’s enjoyment of a game can dissipate quickly.
Super helpful. Just beat warlords of New York, played through the world tiers, and am on my way to getting fully into the endgame. You helped me a lot and it's great to see dedicated division 2 content creators. It's such a fun game and I'm glad there's interest in it. Cheers:)
As a gamer not familiar with TD1 - I really enjoyed all the levels and tiers, then WONY. It took me about 110h to complete the whole storyline. Currently I'm on lvl 200 with 240h clocked. I know - I am slow, but I enjoy the game, not farming XP, just playing it easy (on challenging mode). Great content btw, just subbed for more! Cheers from Poland! :D

Basically, I asked my bro if he wanted to jump right into Wony, but he said if he pays for the full game, he wants the whole experience. If you want your game to last longer then it's absolutely worth it and you'll be familiar with the missions when it comes down to the weekly invasions too. Otherwise, if you just want to raid with friends or do some pvp, then feel free to skip everything.
I started this game a couple of months ago, I'm now level 70 shd and skipped the world tiers. To be completely honest, if I could roll back to level 30, I would defo do the tier system because right now I have hardly any idea what gear does what and what's worth keeping.

As you can see from my level, the game got boring for me, always chasing the next best gear but with a stupidly low drop rate for good gear I surrendered to to the notion that it wasn't worth the effort.
I originally played on PS4 and I was on WT5. I took a long break from the game but got back into it and bought it on PC when I had a new computer so I did level up to 30 but then I did a character boost to get to WLONY.
I was on the last world tier before I just skipped to WONY. I don't get to play that often and even then I'm juggling multiple games on various platforms. I like experiencing the story through playing the game but if I don't have time there are lot of UA-cam videos I can watch to fill in the gaps.

At what point will I know I've completed and/or seen everything within the World Tiers? Is it a case of "hit max gear score, move on" - or is there more to it than that?
Hey Mark, cheers! As you play through the World Tiers you'll complete Strongholds to progress to the new Tier, once you're completed the World Tier 5 Stronghold you're done. Hope that helps!
For me, I will skip the tiers. Just because higher level weapons are usually always better. So anything I gather before level 40, will be redundant until them. That way, when exploring and finding more loot. They will ultimately be more valuable
How did you guess? I completed everything on my main 3 characters before WLONY expansion existed, my fourth character was a Hardcore one. About 2 years ago my Ubisoft account was hacked, apparently from Tunisia (???), another continent from where I am at Ubi, and after three attempts I just gave up and lost everything Ubisoft games. Now, having decided to return, I have two chars at level 30 and was thinking of precisely what this video is about since I had never gotten to Level 30 with WLONY being a thing. So I was wondering why friend and other players were lever 400 and shit if you stop at 30 or 40. I got my answer here. Also I plan on playing the world tires just because I want to get all the storeci can. Plus I'm injoying the game. And after you complete everything what's the point of rushing to the end to have nothing to do? So I will be playing the world tires, then the NY and when heartland comes out I'll get it as well. I completed the main content and stopped playing so I never played the world tiers. Then I recently decided to play again randomly and found out there was new content. Went straight to it not knowing I was skipping anything lol.
I think I'll actually play the World Tiers since I don't plan on playing alts, don't care about the story, but the fact that I can't just flip back and forth between DC and NY before finishing NY and being Level 40 already, it'd be weird to backtrack to the Gear Score when I'm Level 40 and clean up the SHD crates later. I'll do the WT's and get all the crates first before I move on, thanks.
Oh, almost forgot, I am going to boost a third character I created, these two will have to suffer. I also hope that Ubi does not make the same mistake it did with The Division by creating a new game, they can carry on by making more expansions like the War Lords. Using the Division's original Metro/Subway system, for those that remember, they can have expansions wherever they want, Cheers.
My question is, if I've jumped in with Division 2 is there a compelling reason to play Division 1? Is the gameplay an overall downgrade? That's the thing I like the most about D2. Tactical third person action.
Really, they feel like very different games. I'd say the gameplay in The Division 2 is more refined but the atmosphere of The Division 1 is incredible. In my opinion, they are both worth playing, and if it's the gameplay style you like(Tactical third-person action) I don't think The Division 1 will disappoint you.
Oops. Too late. I jumped into warlords of NY after finishing the base game. I didn’t realize warlords would kill that option. This game can be so confusing with its patched on systems.
Hey i do have a little question. I just pkayed through the base game and im at world tier 1 now. Should i level up control points by doing the activities near them or just clear them straight away?
It's ultimately up to you, all upgrading them does is increase the difficulty and the quality of the loot(Higher minimum attributes). As a frame of reference, level 3 is the equivalent of challenging and level 4 is heroic. Hope that helps!
If only i had seen this yesterday i grinded through them world tiers 🤣 And this isn't my first timme playing it i had completed everything in dc on ps4 laat year But now that i biught the WoNY expansion for pc i had to do it took me 40 hours of play time but got it done with the campaign and i am now ready for seasons
After coming back to the game and trying the dlc for the first time, the world tiers are so obsolete that it shouldn’t even be a feature in the game if you own the dlc since it doesn’t explain how it’s a waste of time if you’re going to play the dlc
I made the mistake of starting WONY as soon as I hit WT1. It sucked missing a huge part of a the game experience. I have a mastery/100% mindset and I never felt like I truly beat the game because of that skip.
Nope, once you head to New York/WONY the game treats it as if you've skipped a head so everything left undone on the DC map will be auto-completed when you get back.
So, i completed the story and then hit level 30 and world tier 1 and then me and a friend went over to warlords and completed that. my question is as we did the strongholds how come the world tier hasn't changed?

It won't permanently lock you out of any content but while you're playing the Warlords campaign you can't return to DC until you've finished, really the only reason to play the WT is the little bit of story around the Black Tusk invasions. Hope that helps!
I cleared one of the black tusk strongholds and moved on to world level 2. Right now im in the New York expansion. What will happen when i return to Washington?
I don't think I have a guide for that specific build but from watching the video back I have a Famas with In-Sync, the Mop named shotgun, Vigilance on the backpack and Obliterate on the chest. Knowing how I run my builds I image for brands I have 3 providence, 1 Cezka, 1 Sombra and Foxes Prayer for the knee pads. Hope that helps!
If you beat the WONY do you still have to get through the world tiers or are they irrelevant since they have the modifiers and stuff now because a friend of mine keeps saying there are still different world teirs but everywhere I look it says there aren't any and its just the modifiers now
My advise about world tiers compared to going straight to WONY is this, yes you will be level 30 in WONY but you won't have any gear that's of use, I did world tiers on my second play through and at world tier 5, WONY is a sinch, easily completed it after tier 5 compared to the slog of going straight there. But the time to get to tier 5 was probably longer than just doing WONY from start to finish, but it's a good way of learning the game and what gear you like to run. Plus WONY boost gives you all signature weapons.
Question: (new to the game) What if I have a second character. Then I skipped DC and went straight to NYC and it finishes the expansion. Will my 1st character have to finish the NYC too? or both characters will be affected by my 2nd character's progression?
All of your characters will have their own story progression, so you will need to play through the whole story with each character(unless you use the level 30 boost), the only things shared between characters are the endgame SHD level, stash and crafting materials (if you choose to). The easiest way to pick up Classified gear in the first game is to wait for the Global Events to start, then you can earn GE Tokens and buy Classified caches. Without the GE's active, there aren't any guaranteed way's to farm them, a lot of players including myself have had a lot of luck farming the Open World bosses though! Hope that helps!
Wait, so can you not do the black tusk invasion upon returning to DC after playing Warlords? My understand was that when you go the NY, the entire game changes its level mechanic. Like things in DC will have the new leveling system. ...because if it does work like that, then playing through the base game, going to NY, and then coming back to do the tusk stuff could be good, as it would have something fresh in terms of local and it could still make sense narratively? Like, you do the base game, and go to NY for that mission, and you return to DC to discover the Black Tusks have taken over during your absence. ......does it not work like that?
By starting Warlords you skip over the world tiers which are like the introduction to the invasions and the Black Tusk but after you've finished Warlords the weekly Invasions still cycle on the DC map which gives you extra rewards and specialization points. I narratively it goes base game -> Black Tusk World Tiers -> Warlords. But the Invasions seem to be framed as an ongoing problem.
I didn’t know that story was built upon in the world tiers I thought it was just throwing you into a more difficult version of the game. Now I’m kind of annoyed.

It's still there for me on PC in the usual place. Settings -> UI -> Scrolling Combat Text. Weird if it's disappear but hopefully it's a visual bug that corrects itself!
lmao hes talking about games story like its something good, i just finished world tier 5 and dont there is no story, go through same areas and kill practically same enemies, no cutscenes no npcs you talk to or become friends with, its just some voice keep telling you to go kill some more keep going and keep killing, does the game even have bosses? or its just same enemy with yellow health bar lmao. the "story" is a joke
I want it all! So i do all three! One character skipped, and i found the game so much less grindy. If i didnt do that i would have thrown the game away due to the grindyness. So much joy! Second character im coming up through the world tiers enjoying the story, but with the knowlege i gained in my skipped char. Then i have a mule. Then fun character that is low level and i just use to shepherd and have mindless fun with low level gear.

I cleared one of the black tusk strongholds and moved on to world level 2. Right now im in the New York expansion. What will happen when i return to Washington?
I’m trying to 100% the main missions but I still have the “Manning National Zoo” mission left. I can’t find it anywhere on my map. help please

I don't think I have a guide for that specific build but from watching the video back I have a Famas with In-Sync, the Mop named shotgun, Vigilance on the backpack and Obliterate on the chest.
Knowing how I run my builds I image for brands I have 3 providence, 1 Cezka, 1 Sombra and Foxes Prayer for the knee pads.

how do you make damage appear on the side like that?
If you beat the WONY do you still have to get through the world tiers or are they irrelevant since they have the modifiers and stuff now because a friend of mine keeps saying there are still different world teirs but everywhere I look it says there aren't any and its just the modifiers now
If I skip the world tiers and go to NY can I still get specialisation points in NY or on DC?
My advise about world tiers compared to going straight to WONY is this, yes you will be level 30 in WONY but you won't have any gear that's of use, I did world tiers on my second play through and at world tier 5, WONY is a sinch, easily completed it after tier 5 compared to the slog of going straight there. But the time to get to tier 5 was probably longer than just doing WONY from start to finish, but it's a good way of learning the game and what gear you like to run. Plus WONY boost gives you all signature weapons.
Question: (new to the game) What if I have a second character. Then I skipped DC and went straight to NYC and it finishes the expansion. Will my 1st character have to finish the NYC too? or both characters will be affected by my 2nd character's progression?
All of your characters will have their own story progression, so you will need to play through the whole story with each character(unless you use the level 30 boost), the only things shared between characters are the endgame SHD level, stash and crafting materials (if you choose to).

Sort of yes, they just stop existing so all of DC will be level 40 when you return.
I just bought it for PC today and skipped to WoNY. 🤣

@@Xf31 Nope, all of the gear and weapons you'd pick up through the world tiers you'll be replacing as you level up from 31 - 40
@@bobjob1885 Do you mean in The Division 1? The easiest way to pick up Classified gear in the first game is to wait for the Global Events to start, then you can earn GE Tokens and buy Classified caches.
Without the GE's active, there aren't any guaranteed way's to farm them, a lot of players including myself have had a lot of luck farming the Open World bosses though!

Wait, so can you not do the black tusk invasion upon returning to DC after playing Warlords?
My understand was that when you go the NY, the entire game changes its level mechanic. Like things in DC will have the new leveling system.
...because if it does work like that, then playing through the base game, going to NY, and then coming back to do the tusk stuff could be good, as it would have something fresh in terms of local and it could still make sense narratively? Like, you do the base game, and go to NY for that mission, and you return to DC to discover the Black Tusks have taken over during your absence.

By starting Warlords you skip over the world tiers which are like the introduction to the invasions and the Black Tusk but after you've finished Warlords the weekly Invasions still cycle on the DC map which gives you extra rewards and specialization points.
I narratively it goes base game -> Black Tusk World Tiers -> Warlords.
But the Invasions seem to be framed as an ongoing problem.
I didn’t know that story was built upon in the world tiers I thought it was just throwing you into a more difficult version of the game. Now I’m kind of annoyed.

did they change world tiers?I use to be able to change world tiers and go back to level 1 for dark zone farming because it was less populated!Im not a PVP guy because of all the CHEATING POS out there using their little cheat devices.I just want to get the gear thats specific to the dark zone without the ganking BS

It's still there for me on PC in the usual place.
Settings -> UI -> Scrolling Combat Text.
Weird if it's disappear but hopefully it's a visual bug that corrects itself!

lmao hes talking about games story like its something good, i just finished world tier 5 and dont there is no story, go through same areas and kill practically same enemies, no cutscenes no npcs you talk to or become friends with, its just some voice keep telling you to go kill some more keep going and keep killing, does the game even have bosses? or its just same enemy with yellow health bar lmao. the "story" is a joke
My broke ass cant afford warlords dlc
I want it all! So i do all three! One character skipped, and i found the game so much less grindy. If i didnt do that i would have thrown the game away due to the grindyness. So much joy! Second character im coming up through the world tiers enjoying the story, but with the knowlege i gained in my skipped char. Then i have a mule. Then fun character that is low level and i just use to shepherd and have mindless fun with low level gear.
