Is The Division 2 Worth It In 2024? (Review)

- Опубліковано 9 січ 2024
- With a little bit of downtime over holiday break I was looking at my library of games and remembered that The Division 2 had just announced new DLC as along with the announcement that we are getting The Division 3.
So I decided to hop back into the game for the first time in nearly 4 years and It was quiet the shock. In this video I go over my experience returning to the game and trying to fully understand the games deep and complex endgame systems.

The Div2 is still one of the best coop, looter/shooters ever. Actually, that is a sad thing. Over the past few years, dev studios have been having serious issues creating games that might compete with Div2. Div2 stays "worth it" in 2024 because nobody has been able to create anything as good.
Because of this video, I just downloaded the updates and started playing again last night. Thank you for the great review! Your coverage of the current state of the game and your reasons for coming back all resonate with me and others here. Much appreciated!
You did a great job editing this video! Great commentary my guy!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video, Thank you!
Thinking of getting back into it again, watched some streams and game seems very much alive. Great video
Great video my g. Thinking about coming back to it aswell. You might have swayed me
It’s been a lot of fun to jump back into and play again especially since they are doing more DLC in 2025.
the division 2 is my favorite non-rpg game ever, but it is not for everyone. I used to be obsessed with World of Warcraft 15 years ago, I find a lot of similarities between The division 2 and WoW.
Funny, it's my favorite rpg game...next to Bannerlord.
I’m an avid rpg gamer and at one time addicted to everquest. You are correct, the division 2 just gives you the same feels. I just came back after not playing for a few years and everything from movies to games being narrative trash. Enjoying so far but have yet to try New York out.
Great review. Ngl, I was eyeing this game since before it came out. I was excited to play it, but got a cold feet when people started throwing bad reviews after the release. Now, I'm grateful to see at least a good review of it and just bought the game myself and currently downloading it.
I can't wait to get back into the game. I had so much fun during the lockdown. Started a clan and made some friends with many long nights killing baddies. The clan component was probably my favorite aspect of D2. Feeling that camaraderie and even though I don't have a mic, listening to the people and typing out responses, was sufficient and fun. It's such a beautiful game too. Thanks for a great video.
bought this now in steam via spring sale. lovin it!
Well worth it when you can get it on sale
I bought this game during covid alongside with the warlords dlc for 7 bucks. It was pretty cool at the time. Over the few past years ubisoft has added some stuff that was included in the division 1 when it had just come out. With the summit and descent into the game alongside with the shd leveling up and proficiency rank on gear and weapons definitely made me come back to this game last week.. i definitely recommend this game to anyone if its on sale. I dislike online service games but this is one of the 2 guilty pleasures of playing. The menu for the whole recalibration is a little confusing at first but over time you understand what it is and what it shows.
I just appreciate that they keep updating and listening to the players in terms of what we want.
This review is amazing, it gave me the spark to redownload this and give the game a second chance! I loved the layout of your videos!!! JUST SUBSCRIBED!
Appreciate you checking out the video and dropping a sub as well, got some fun videos cooking up for this month and beyond.
@@dopestm3rk Can't wait to see all of them! I played for hours last night getting back into the game and all the your advice worked like a charm, was super overwhelmed with all the new stuff to do!
Great video dude. You earned my subscription!! Hope to see more division stuff on your channel!!
Appreciate you dropping a sub
When Heartlands launches (whenever that is) I plan on doing a preview for it and the DLC for Div 2 in 2025 is something I will cover as well.
I’ve gone back. This game is a diamond in the rough.
If you already own it or can pick it up at a big discount it’s more than worth it at this point.
Not played for a few years. Watching this makes me want to get back into it!
Now is a pretty good time to jump in, appreciate you stopping by and checking out the video
Well made review mate. Good conent, keep up the good work, subbed! RTX 4070ti, 1440p also. Game defo tanks at times but it looks incredible for for a 2019 game, really loving it nowadays.
Appreciate you stopping by and checking out the video
Been playing regularly since Oct 2022. Shd 2400+ now, only one raid clear to my name since im more interested in playing solo, and thankfully im not missing much by missing that, lol. Returning tip, rogue agents cant take away field recon data from you, so clearing landmarks in the DZ is the best way to farm them!
Division 2 vet here great review I’m someone who’s 1700+ hours deep done everything got every exotic and shd level 4727 there’s so much replay value even now for me. I hope u find great fun in this game. 🖤 and most importantly run what u wanna play with. After all a build u have no idea how to play with is bad and a build ur comfortable with will only take you to the next level
Literally downloaded the division 2 again because of this video,
So props for that,
Well said and brought my attention back to the game, looking forward to getting back into it,
Any new tips you may have found would be greatly appreciated!
Appreciate the kind words and taking the time to watch the video It means a lot. Best advice I would give it to find a decent build, use the targeted loot farming and once you get a comfortable build you can branch out into more things.
I just got back into this game after over 1650 days since my last sign in. Was Lvl30/WT5 so i bought the dlc and im diving in head first. If youre looking to squad with someone lmk!
System?
Pc?
I just remembered I played this game back in 2019. I have no idea why I stopped playing (maybe because of the new COD lol)
I'm glad this game is still getting worked on!
The shd levels are what made me stop playing it. They are super hard to get and some builds are not even possible unless you have super high watch level. I guess maybe that’s the point of it but idk it was just very off putting that I couldn’t achieve certain builds without a good watch level
All my friends came back. So much content like Coundown, and the Paradise Incursion. We get busy now
Started running match-made activities and have been enjoying it a lot more lately.
So, if I return, I'll find a decent player base ?
I believe so, a brand new season launched this week as well so you’ll find a good amount of players on.
@@dopestm3rk thank you. I remember back then you had to purchase each season if you wanna play it. To this day, you still need to buy them, or they became free ?
@@catalinmihailescu I believe you can play the seasonal content for free, at least this last season I did all of the content and then bought the pass once I had completed it.
I know once you hit level 1 on the free pass it unlocks the legacy manhunts (previous seasons) for you to do, albeit just the final mission still nice they have it.
Great work! Recently I noticed that several of my regular Destiny gang have been playing TD2 almost constantly, so I'm guessing there must be something there worth their time. Sadly, as I switched from XBox to PC back in 2018, most of my gaming friends are still on that platform and TD2 still doesn't support crossplay, which I think is completely inexcusable at this point. Otherwise, I'd probably jump back in myself. For me - avid Division Agent since the very early TD1 days - the grind just got too repetitive. Might check it out again, but not until they've ironed out the stability issues. I'm pretty sure a hard TD1 crash toasted the 1080 that came with my original gaming PC. Not interested in more of that.
I think the performance was smoothed out a little at least on my end, Division 2 isnt something I grind every week more so just hop on every couple weeks or so to do the seasonal content.
The one thing I like about this game.
Is the cover Mechanic.
It’s the best cover Mechanic I’ve ever seen in a third person shooter.
question for you guys. I played a lot of division 1. With the announcement of the division 3, is it worth my time and money to play the division 2? I feel that with most of these live service MMOs that have sequels if you didn't jump into them from the beginning and you decide to play it late in its life cycle and and another sequel is going to be released and none of your gear or progression will carry over, whats the point in grinding for an old game? I might as well wait for its next sequel and jump in then, no?
It all depends how much you’d want to sink into The Division 2, Division 3 is at least like 4 years away and there is new DLC planned for Division 2 in 2025. I’d say if you can pick the game up with the expansion on sale it’s well worth the time and investment.
Thanks for your insight and for the vid. Enjoyed it!@@dopestm3rk
@@0viz0 In my opinion, I don't see a difference in grinding for an old vs a new game. I think that waiting for a game to mature and then playing is usually the best idea anyways. You have the most content and gear to grind for vs a new game with less content and gear. The Division 2 is a great game and I feel if you enjoyed The Division, you owe it to yourself to play Division 2.
@@OwlunYeah I agree. I pre-ordered this game and quickly finished all the content and never came back. Would have played more if I'd come in a couple years later. Looks great now. Might have to give it another go.
@@zephyr2002 It's a super fun game. I highly recommend giving it another go.
It has tons of loot and a lot of viable builds. A mature game (especially looter shooters) are always best towards the end of their life span (as far as content goes anyways).
The Division 2 is very addictive, if you like to explore and farm. Trying different builds and the expansion Warlords of New York is fantastic. Just walk around the New York DLC, it’s amazing. You can play PVP, or PVE your choice. The only thing that’s missing is a Darkzone for single players. Going into the DZ solo is not a good experience. Groups of two or four love to kill solo players. Thats where changes should happen.
I tend to stay away from the DZ simply because I don't have a team and know I will get rolled up on.
100% agree. They stalk solos...lol
Great video man 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Was fun making it, can’t wait to hop back in when the new season drops.
This game is on sale on steam currently, so a good time to try! This will be my first time playing
It's a lot of fun to play and story isn't half bad either, tons of stuff to do postgame as well.
First time youtube gave me exactly what i was looking for
Left the games years ago.
I've just redone The Division 1 campain, and I was wondering if going back to TD2 worth it. Seems it does.
On the side I've been playing Helldivers 2 and, even it's plenty of fun, it lack the depth of both Division games.
Seems, I'm going back in ;)
I feel like the Survival mode from D1 is something i miss in the 2nd one..
I honestly really enjoy this game. Minus the seasonal content, I seriously just like roaming around and seeing what happens lol or I just help other people calling for back up. I gotta say, though…not a fan of the DZ. Wish they had an option for just PvE. I like co-op PvE rather than PvP in games like this. A toggle for either or would be cool.
I will admit DZ isnt my cup of tea but the rest of the game I do have a lot of fun jumping back into from time to time.
I was really into the first division. I was thinking about how fun it was and wondering if they ever made a sequel and that's how I landed here.
If only I had a pc or console that could play it
The 1st Division will always be the BEST. If you can survive Legendarys and clear all the INCURSIONS. Division 2 will be a give away. The only thing that sucks is the constant praying to RNGeezus for specific exotics on specific missions. ETC.
Unlike in The Division . You clear a Legendary.. Guaranteed Exotic. Its difficult but fair at the same time.
Still working on the exotic checklist. At least the Raid guns and the ORO-BURRO.
i would love runing a game or 2 with you im sure it will be alot of fun
So I’m loving this game . Just started playing it about 2 weeks ago . Does anyone know when and how you start getting gear sets ? Do you need to complete all world tiers to start getting them or what ?
Yes you need to complete world tier 5 then they will join the loot pool.
@@dopestm3rk sweet ! Thx man I appreciate it
@@curtnslurpn8369 No problem, appreciate you stopping by and checking out the video!
I’m in the exact same boat except on Xbox series X - Destiny 2 main - coming back to the Division 2 after warlords of NY
It’s been a lot of fun to jump back in and play the game after sometime away.
$18 for the bundle, i'll give it a go.
Thinking about buying. Need a new game to get into. Any squads looking?
Been playing last two years, i mostly help people get better loot and understand the game has a learning curve too every thing.
Pc bro?
It can be a bit of a learning curve, I found watching a lot of videos really helped me somewhat understand the game better.
still playing, good game. only game installed on my pc.
It's a ton of fun to hop back into, thanks for checking out the video!
I tried playing this and it didn't get my fancy as much as I was hoping it would and never tried the first one, but I wanted to like it, just wasn't my thing, I felt like the map was tiny compared to the game's I usually play..
"Along with the spinoff game, The Division Heartlands"
That aged well
Lmao it’s a bummer though cause from what I played I liked Heartlands.
Cool video yeah this game kinda good :) i like the farming its not bad...
I just appreciate they have targeted loot for certain areas and missions.
I've been playing it hard-core mode. Such a better game, slow play
great vid
...man, I really should get back into this game. I think I dropped it after finishing WoNY's story because my friends moved over to playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Its a fun game to run around and do some shit In, not something I play everyday but hop on every couple of weeks to play manhunts or level seasonal content.
Tbh I had so much fun on Division 1 and I received that game for free. I bought Division 2, it gets boring fast after you beat the story. The only reason why I visit Division 2 from time to time because of season reward cosmetics and that's it.. Oh I hate the raids.
Edit: Still I haven't upgraded 7.62 mags from 30-50. I mean where's that effin mission?!
is it like D2 with the DLC? where you NEED all the DLC to actually get the best gear?? Do I need to buy the DLC?
I’m not entirely sure, I’ve had the DLC for a while but you can probably pick it up on sale for pretty cheap.
I love when all games have roguelike modes, removes the chance of dead content
I came here before downloading …I’m level 50 …I haven’t played since 2022 😩…I have a 5 now so I’m going to see what it’s looking like
I saw a short of people still playing even after 5 years. So I’m here to see what kept them around
are you worth it in 2024 ?
I'm on my way boys
I'm re-downloading the game atm.
You sold me time to give er a go after 10 years of wow ahaah.
Glad I could get you to try the game!
I’ve been gaming for over 4 decades, so it’d be fair to say I’ve tried (and enjoyed) a lot of what the industry has to offer.
The Division 2 is, without question, the best gaming experience I’ve had in all that time.
When I got through the story and into the “end game” the significance of the depth in the build system hit me and I was blown away.
There’s an embarrassment of riches when it comes to the content : Raids, Countdown, Bounties, Summit, Conflict, Dark Zone and Freeroaming.
The attention to detail on the world building is phenomenal. The way rust looks on metal, car number plates all being different, the way light comes through trees to the way explosions cause water ripples. Five years on from release and I can honestly say that I’ve never seen a better looking game to this day. The Snowdrop engine designed by Massive constantly takes my breath away.
The sound is amazing too. When you hear the first rumblings of a distant storm approaching always makes my neck hairs stand, because in the next 10 minutes, you’ll be standing in a deluge where you can barely see and lightening will be flashing around you as deep thunder rolls through your speakers. Also of note is how good the voice quips are from the enemy NPC’s, they’re invariably hilarious and also very contextual to what’s happening.
The gunplay is deeply satisfying too. The range of weapons is truly impressive and combining those with skills and gear perks makes for the most fun I’ve ever had in a game.
And the A.I. is brilliantly scalable and really smart. They’ll rush and flank you constantly and they know how to press the attack when one of your team is down and you’re trying to revive them.
On a final note, and this is a big one, particularly in light of the gaming industry’s modern predatory practices, after you’ve paid for the Warlords expansion, every season pass content is FREE. You don’t pay a thing for all the events that keep things fresh.
Given the low price of the game now, including it’s expansion, you’ve no good reason to not dip a toe into The Division 2 and see what it’s all about. Oh, and FWIW, it’s predecessor D1 is also superb. You’ll get a LOT of bang for buck here folks.
How many hours you got?
I remember getting this and the bad Star Wars battlefront 2 (2017)for 5 bucks when the whole loot box thing finally exploded.
I was guilt tripped to play them with friends, but it never happened. From the get go I h@ted live service/looter shooters like destiny 2014 and the first division 2016 for being major icons of greed within the gaming industry.
Plus, overwatch (2016)and halo 5(2015) at the time setting bad precedents.
To my surprise, I enjoyed myself in the campaign with music turned on in the background, and the green landscapes were pleasing to the eyes. I never touched the multi-player and never finished the campaign.
For 5 bucks, it was a smooth brain experience back in 2019, and I might try playing it again in 2024.
Can someone run me down the solo single-player experience and how meta affects it? Do I need to farm and bring loads of cans again?
Farewell and have a lovely day.
Of course it is
I played it today and I have to say it's great. The only problem or maybe I'm just 1+ hour into the game but, when in the open world there's no background music like why?
might want to check your settings cause I swear there is some sort of background music/score when playing.
Every time i boot the game up after a break there is new shit to do. Theyre def sinking time into it . What i like about it is that the difficulty is dependant upon your build. If you have a shit build it is going to be a real struggle so it forces you to pay attention to the minutia.
Getting a good build was one thing that really allowed me to enjoy this game
@dopestm3rk Same. The game got annoying to me after completion but then NY? The recent updates are a godsend. It's a great game.
Ive beem playing Titamfall2 again. The campaign is awesome and tgey have a 4 player coop mode now and peoples are playing ir. Try it! Im gonna try D2 again also its DLing now
Titanfall 2 has one of the best single player campaigns Ive played in a long time
Deep voices are not the only cool voices. You don’t have a deep voice.
But vocal frying the end of every word doesn’t make it sound like you have a deep voice.
It makes it sound like you’re vocal frying all the time to try to make it sound like you have a deep voice and your voice will sound energetic and awesome and have an excellent tone if you stop doing this.
While I appreciate you taking the time to type all of this out that's just how I sound when reading off the script
Logged 22 hours in a week. It's so fun.
Been having a lot of fun leveling my character and doing the seasonal stuff
This stage in the game it isn't uncommon to see shd levels about 10k..I see them everytime I play now
The 3 things I think the game really needs is first, a shared open world, I love seeing other players in the world in a MMO, it makes the game feel more alive. Second, a better queuing system, we should be able to queue for more than one mission/activity at a time. Since the population of players is pretty small, you often can’t find a group so having more than one queue would help. Finally would be cross play so all the remaining players can play together
All of these are things I would love to see in the sequel and or the spin off Heartlands.
I feel fkin lost as well... just downloaded it again last night😂😂
It's pretty overwhelming at first but I would start with the weekly invasions and the seasonal manhunts.
It’s been 2 years I’m coming back.
Its free on ps
Great time to hop back in
Anyone still play?
Its free if you have ps plus well not free but you get to down load it and only pay 14 bucks a month
You should try path of exile and im subbing 😉
I’ve heard good things about POE might check it out someday, appreciate you dropping a sub and stopping by.
Great vid though
Let's be honest we searched for this beautiful video,or am i the only one?
U have to buy all the DLCs to actually play it 😂😂 destiny syndrome no one will play this
Yes. Yes we did. And am eternally grateful.
I didn’t.
Im only now playing it for the first time. But didnt have to download any expansions. But i play troug playstation extra@@dash7661
I’ve played this game back when it came out, loved it. Now I hear everything resets and you have to pay to basically play? Is that true?
Ive got 3200 hrs in The Division 2. Every time I leave some other grind is added. I came back to the shade watch. I left and came back to expertise. I’m expertise 20 now and I want to throw up.
Seriously comparing that’s me too with division two here’s the one major difference, but destiny two is successful wildly successful there are fact, 67,000 people playing destiny two at two in the morning I think eastern time there are 863 people playing division two. They literally going on five times more people playing destiny two right this minute then have quite the division two in its highest peak and current hour on speed now grant that it’s probably playable via another launcher by splitting the numbers, but let’s be fair. Most people play all their games on steam now for PC, so they can have launcher to start them all the division object failure they fucked up whatever chemistry they had going in the division one they just fucked it up in the division too, and everybody left there weren’t nearly as people in the first place after getting screwed on the division two i.e. it’s coming out incomplete. I mean literally not like incomplete from oh it’s a live service game so it’s going to be incomplete type of concept, but literally the final chapter of the story so we couldn’t finish developing our characters. They literally shipped it without all of the main story included. They would be stupid to try and put out another iteration of this game because it would never sell everybody good to be waiting to see how things turned out, which is what the way destiny do the final shape highly I mean like a clamp leading shooter tell the pain the player being hesitant to re-order that’s why destiny due the final got delayed because it wasn’t ready because they were trying to string along and get more free orders especially consoles where there’s very little chance to get a refund i.e. once you start downloading the game and playing it. You can’t get a refund to get a refund and after the last couple of things they put out the little has but it still has 67,000 people getting ready to play the final millions of players every day the divisions lucky never reached 1 million players in the division two at day ever in history get you all spilled you’re gonna get the division. It will be another DLC if anything that will be required if you wanna advance your character level? They’ll be a level of some kind of increasing score, something that they probably learn from blizzard with the old days true I mean the old days when actor would require you to buy the DLC or get left behind by your friends who did buy it pay that nobody is going to destiny. Weren’t a good game like a class action shooterit would’ve failed as well back then best me too. It almost did at lunch.
U should try ninja build
Someone stole your content. They stole it from you
Yeah I'm seeing that now, left a message on the video asking them to take it down because its literally my whole review word for word. If they don't take it down I will submit a copyright strike because that's pretty BS I spent time writing that review and scripting it out.
@@dopestm3rkouhhhhhhhhh he in trouble 😳😂
How are you doing with the division 2?
Enjoying hoping back in every couple weeks to do the seasonal story beats, not playing as much as I was when I did the review but still enjoying my time with it.
Seems like lots to learn? And solo playing works?
For a majority of the stuff as long as you have a decent build you can play solo, it’s once you get to the higher difficulties that you might want to matchmake to make it a little easier.
Is TD1 and 2 still active (May 2024) ??
TD2 is getting a new DLC sometime in 2025, TD1 is more so in just maintenance mode keeping the game running.

Real Question:
IS IT WORTH BUYING FOR OFFLINE GAMEPLAY
I believe you will need an online connection to play this game.
@@dopestm3rk okay thank you
Played Div1 for years. Div2 just lacks the atmosphere of the first one. You dont feel you are in an apocalypse but rather in a themepark.
DC is nowhere near as interesting is New York City was. I found this game so much more boring. I wish they would have just expanded on the original. It had its problems no arguments, but it was still the superior game. They didn't even fix the spongy feeling guys wearing beanies it just doesn't feel right
Play almost never in any franchise if I ever seen more gullible people OK the division one was the pinnacle of this game. The division two was a failure. I’m not saying they didn’t make money. I’m saying nobody is playing it. It’s a failure. Nobody wants to play it no longevity they ruined PVP and the dark song the whole allure of the dark zone was for one nonstop PVP so put everybody wants to do it in the same room that’s what he wanted, well I shouldn’t say the you’ll confuse it with that division whatever everybody in the same room and we fought for hours and hours and days and days I mean for some people that was the endgame that was all of it the division two splits the dark zone and three chunks turns it into Candyland makes it all casual player can go in there and get some Kelvin grab an item that doesn’t need to be extractedinto another where you might get attacked by other players then Dear progression system that makes every bit of clear out this moment you get a new bit of gear. Do you have to get all the way to the end? We’re getting in all the Maxwell pieces before you can even really start trying to build. The game is a failure and the concept that they’re going to waste money making more of this game. It’s Ludacris their voice smoke up your ass to keep you next to the cash shop, Rille dropper DLC, but the concept of division three that will never make it to market
I can't get into this game like the first one. To me doesn't have a charm like the first division game.
That was me when this game first released but I kinda dug the vibe of DC overtime plus you do get to go back to a section of NYC for the expansion.
Its clunky and the item drops feel lack luster. Game is stupid samey everywhere you go. Go here kill everyone, go there do the same thing. abilities are all over the place and are uninteresting. over all ambitious game with great environment that fell flat on its face in gameplay mechanics.

It’s an exceptional game with huge depth and diversity when it comes to the end-game build system.
It’s stunningly good looking with an attention to detail in the world building that I’ve never seen the likes of.
All the difficulties can be tailored to your preference and working with a good team is hugely satisfying.
There’s a genuine embarrassment of riches when it comes to content…and perhaps most impressively, it’s all FREE.
The Division 1 & 2 have been the best gaming experiences of my life and both games are currently retailing at less than 20 bucks. I’d strongly encourage anyone whose on the fence to dip a toe at this price.
