- Several Schwimmwagen, Kübelwagen and Kettenkrad on a motocross stretch in Demmin, Germany. It's the DISG Pfingstentreffen annual meeting 2007.
We're never tired of seeing more about these historic vehicles. Thanks for sharing this.
My neighbor was a US war veteran in the artillery and fought in WWII in Europe. He told me that they loved to use captured Kettenenkrad. His quote was "that thing would climb a tree." The officers did not like them using captured equipment and would order them to abandon them.

Был у нас в городе собиратель старой техники , В. Кузнецов " Штирлиц", вот и удалось прокатиться на Кюбельвагене. Запорожец напоминает по езде и сзади тесно.

Cool to see some working old vehicles. First time for the Kübelwagen in action in all terrain.. frankly surprised and disappointed as that hill should not be such an issue, and for a military vehicle over all!
Sometime I want to buy Kettenkrad, I really like it, it's amasing!

*It seems to me that the only thing they forgot was a 4X4 option at least in the first gear, for the mud, as the swiminwagen had, or some track chains to attach to the rear tractor wheels. Then it was an excellent vehicle*

My dad had a 67 bug in the 1980's and i took it off road with 4 people in it.....ground clearance was limited.....but you would be surprised the places we went....

@TheSonofmydad I think it was because of the steep climb it could not negotiate. Dangerous move, though.
Why the Kettenkrad owners are standing while climbing I do not know. But they sure get in a position to better appreciate the ride and what is going on around them.

My guess would be to keep the front end down. Not sure how much it helps, but that is my guess.

@@megasalexandros6400 Why did they kick ass everywhere. They managed to keep it going for five years with limited resources and fighting a combines 145 countries. Then U.K. was so desperate it hired mercenaries from India, Australia, New Zealand etc.
That hill is more difficult than it looks on camera. The schwimmwagens have equal or better climbing abilities to a jeep and avoided it for a reason. The kettenkrad is really quite amazing at climbing.
