From other reviews i gather that though the American jeep had a more powerful engine and thus it would have better statistics in many aspects bec of that alone, the German design had better suspension, a better ride and more maneuverability. But the advantage of having less HP mean more fuel efficiency in general and that was needed by the Germans bec of their fuel shortages during the war unfortunately for them they weren't as mindful of fuel efficiency with their tanks 😅
The extra weight of front axle, drive shaft, transfer case, frame reinforcements for mounting heavy weapons, and water cooling. Tends to eat up the extra hp/tq the flat fender Jeep brings to the table. If you loose use of the front axle of the Jeep it’ll still move but they get stuck in just about anything remotely slippery. My grandfather spent North Africa to Germany in theatre recovering war machines off the battlefield for rehab in the rear. Jeeps were frequently a supply and demand problem for the troops doing this job. Gramps boys started using Kubelwagens to scout the battlefield for downed machines. By VE Day he had nothing but praise for Kubelwagens. He bought one of the very first VW bugs imported into his home state in 1951. It wasn’t just his family transportation car. He used it off-road in the woods for hunting and fed his family with it.
