- Making progress on the rescued greenhouse and transformed cistern in spite of the nonstop rain!
We live in a medieval castle with a huge, derelict estate in southern France. Follow our ambitious garden projects, from vineyards to formal gardens, tropical plants to self-sustainability. Our project is enormous and our enthusiasm contagious. We'd love you to join us.

Rain, rain go away! The stonework is going to be beautiful and Margot has really developed a passion for working with stones. She’s leaving her mark on the gardens of Chateau de Rosieres! Marc’s water system is brilliant. I’m very happy to hear that he is on the mend and following doctors orders. ❤

Watching Clement helping Margot brought back so many memories of being 2 years old and helping my dad to build a stone patio. I sold him the stones for 6s/6d each ( it was the only sum of money I knew at the time), I would also help him mix cement,making sure that the water didnt run away then pinch his buckets to collect worms in or frogs , dependent upon which was more plentiful at the time. My dog even got in on the act by bringing frogs to me in his mouth ( totally unharmed as he was very gentle with them). My dad died last December and it was a wonderful reminder of times gone by. Thanks Margot and Clement!❤❤

Nobody does such great work with rocks and boulders like Margot and Marc! You just need some dry days to finish this project. 😮
Marc, give in and have multiple sets of tools in different areas of the estate. Convenience is important to you because you have so many different projects going on simultaneously all over the estate. Your time is more important than a few extra euros for multiple tools!
Marc, you certainly need a break from all the rain. Missed seeing Amy today, I guess she has been working in the family room on the ground floor. Kathy USA 🇺🇸

Glad Marc is getting better. I love how you re-purpose old Medieval building stones, Margo is a great stone walk builder, she found the good flat top rock to use. Clement is lending a hand and will be a great helper as he learns while he grows.

It's really interesting to see how Marc has thought through each particular function on the grounds and outbuildings of the chateau. He certainly has an engineering mind! Just need to keep him from getting injured and keep him out of hospital! 😊 Hope the recovery is going smoothly.

If foot injuries are a problem, I would recommend steel toe leather boots - bit expensive, but they can reduce hospital costs/time!

Hi John, this was all filmed before the accident, but everybody is doing ok now. The injury was above the foot but I do keep working on Marc to wear his steel toe capped boots (he has them!)

Love the rock path, wonderful idea.Glad to hear Marc is recovering well. Hard to wish the rain away because then comes the heat and drying of the vegetation. We are having similar weather here in Oregon near Mt. Hood.

So will there be a 2 piece WC in the greenhouse so then anyone working won't have far to go or is there a close one? I love that Chateau de Rosieres is so self sustainable in a lot of ways would you ever implement solar power or have you already? Good on you Margot and Amy's Mum always interesting to try new things :) Clement is such a great little helper wherever he is :) I would have thought a metal inset rebar or other would help keep the stone in place than a larger stone. What are the dark patches on the blue wall. Is there humidity coming through?
Behind that wall is the large cistern that we put in. The hole behind it hasn't been filled in yet because we have other work to do in that area, so some water comes through when it rains.
