Yeah.....some guys think that crap is fine, like we should be honored or something. I raised a daughter, but you can be damned sure if I had raised a son, he'd have never pulled that crap. Tons of male behavior is found excuses for, overlooked and worse....some women still feel like they are the one's that are doing something wrong. Like 'was I flirting too much' or ' did I miss the signs.' Crap like that. Luckily, when a guy tried that with my daughter, she kneed him in the old "family jewels." **smiles proudly**
Being trans is rough. A lot of people view me as an object and not a person. The worst part is that they think I should be grateful for the opportunity that they are providing me. I'm not trying to trauma dump, I just understand exactly what it feels like to be viewed as an object. I appreciate your kind words. If only there were more people like you in this world, it would be a much better place.
Was "air kissing" common there and then? I live in Brazil where it is common to greet anyone of the opposite sex with "air kisses" on both sides of the face.
@@timothymulholland7905 I think it’s a good question. But comparing this story with the similar encounters in Genesis shows that there was also a creepy element.
Genuine question, would this kind of kissing be the kind that they did to greet people (like how Jacob kissed Laban a few vv later?) I still think Jacob was violating Rachel's bodily autonomy and boundaries bc she clearly didn't know who he was, she wasn't expecting it, he didn't even introduce himself first, etc.
@@Nicaea7 It’s an important question. That is why I put that annotation in the video about this being more than simply a kiss offered to a family member. Compare the two scenes: the one with Rachel and the one with Laban.
@@JenniferBirdPhD ok I reread the two scenes and I wanted to share my observations of the differences with you bc my Christian upbringing makes it hard for me to see these passages with fresh eyes sometimes. Jacob With Rachel: Jacob is talking with the shepherds when they see Rachel approaching the well. Jacob tries to get the shepherds to hurry up and water their sheep and leave, but they say no (why did he want them to leave? Seems like he wanted alone time with Rachel...). When Rachel arrives at the well, Jacob waters her sheep for her, then kisses her. From Rachel's perspective, she saw a stranger talking with the shepherds, then the stranger comes over to her, waters her sheep, and then kisses her. Only after that does the stranger reveal that he is her kinsman, and she runs to tell her father. Jacob with Laban: Laban hears from Rachel that Jacob is their kinsman. Laban initiates the meeting by running to meet Jacob, and Laban initiates the greeting by embracing Jacob first, then kissing him. So Rachel was given no greeting or context when Jacob went straight for the kiss, whereas Laban was told who Jacob was and got to choose to initiate physical contact with Jacob, starting with an embrace followed by a kiss (instead of going straight for the lips).

Since you asked, I have had both men and women try to take advantage of me in such a manner.
@@aprylvanryn5898 I did ask and appreciate you commenting! I am sorry that you have had to deal with that.
