The thing is, Vanilla Mario Kart 8 had all of the above EXCEPT a Battle Mode and maybe instead of 90% of the tracks being good it's the 85% (Wii U DLC not counted). That's why, when you really think about, I do not want Nintendo to bring back Double Drivers in a mainline Mario Kart because it'd render Double Dash as outclassed and obsolete. I'm a massive MK7 fan but, let's be honest, is not a great handheld Mario Kart game. Why would you play Vanilla MK7 today instead of MK8D?... Maybe some of the tracks... or Honey Queen. And why would you play MKDS over MK8D? Mission Mode. It's hard to say MK7 is better than Double Dash, MKDS, and specially either Wii or 8 Deluxe, but you could fight for Vanilla 8. Even then, it's still a really important entry to this day, but it's just... outclassed... also no single player VS. Mode wtf

The OG is actually pretty awesome... if you develop your skill. I literally beat each cup on 150cc as mini (1st place each race) when I was just a kid.
Mario Kart Double Dash was the game i would play with my brother whenever he was in town... nowadays i barely hear from him, severe social anxiety and depression took control of most of his life... i adore DD for the memories and miss those days a lot!
I'm so sorry to hear that. My brother is in the Navy and every time he comes home we play DD and 8 deluxe and have a blast. I hope he gets better soon!
Most of the footage that you had of "Mario Kart 8" was actually Mario Kart 8 Deluxe footage, having double-items, purple sparks, and additional characters.
8 Deluxe is so good, I hope that they don’t change the engine for the next game in the series. I love the way the game feels (I have spent around 100 hours in the game). I think that we just need new battle tracks and new race tracks for the next entry
Mario Kart 64 rocks. The 4 player is fun due to the chances of getting the three red shell or lightening is quite high for the 2,3&4th player. Plus it was the leap to 3D from 2D mode 7.
1:23 the Mario Kart Arcade GP games also come with some really neat level designs and music (which in itself is a banger) 4:55 I also wanna point out the interconnected universe with the tracks, seeing Daisy Cruiser in the backgrounds of Peach Beach and Yoshi Circuit or even Rainbow Road being located above Mushroom City is just such a neat concept that i wish they brought that back in later games in the series
MKW is my favourite because of all the chaos and nostalgia, and it’s hard to name a bad nitro track with bangers like Mushroom Gorge and Coconut Mall that even non MKW players know. it also has CTGPR so yeah
True. And don't forget DD's drifting mechanics. One wrong move on RR (like letting the drift button go to early) and you would be flung out backwards on the serpentines on the beginning of every lap.
Gen Zs don’t like to play games that require skill hence why they love to throw around the words didn’t age well so often as opposed to what they really mean which is the game doesn’t hold my hand like this newer one that I like to play which does.
mario kart is kinda like smash bros where a worst-to-best list is usually a slightly out of order oldest-to-newest list mainly because the newest games just have soooo much content so its hard to say honestly that anything other than the newest entry right now is the best one. makes me feel bad for the older games since theyre all great too, especially for the time
Agree. It also has the funniest and best multiplayer experience ever. Nothing beats the fun you have if you can kick other racers next to you and also use that to dodge red shells or other items that would hit you in another situation. Also having Versus races only against other players and not CPU's makes the experience much better.

I think Mario kart DS is the last Mario kart where you have a proper control and a feel of the kart you are driving, only for that this is my favorite Mario kart of all time
I'm glad Mario Kart Tour is considered mainline by Nintendo themselves because that game was nice for what it was and it introduces SO MANY new ideas they're gonna use for Mario Kart X.
uh... who says theyre gonna? did they announce anything for it? i dont remember miyamoto saying "the next mario kart will bring all of the ideas from mario kart tour" lol
@@larrygriffin4343 It doesn't need to said, ideas from previous Mario Kart games are carried over to the next game like Retro Tracks from DS, Mirror Mode from 64, Gliders from MK7. Regardless of this list, can we at least admit that Mariokart Super Curcuit is better than Fzero Maximum Velocity? If you havent, go play both on NSO right now, then tell me im wrong.
It took me two weeks to beat the entire Mario kart double dash game, back In the day, when you had to literally pray after two weeks your GameCube wouldn’t fail as you’d have like one 1mb memory card that couldn’t ever hold an entire career. I miss that game so much.
MK64 should be number 2 If you grew up in the 90’s going to your friends house and playing with all your bros was probably my favorite gaming memory’s. In my own opinion it’s still a fun game to play today

My choice is either 64, Double Dash, Wii, or 8 Deluxe. Hard to choose. Wii my wife and I played it til there was nothing left to unlock, 64 was the game back when it came out, and I liked Double Dash for the chaotic nature of that one. 8 deluxe touches on all the good points, but hasn’t drawn me in like those other 3 Whatever the next Mario Kart will be, just give us all the tracks. Like all of them. I think it could as dlc kinda like what 8 Deluxe did but the classics. I’d love that
i can tell that mario kart 8 deluxe, mario kart wii, & mario kart ds are absloute w! they are legends my boy i remember watching gameplay of all of them on youtube from different channels such as davidevgen, xRavenXP, and more/etc the fact the mario kart 8 deluxe booster course pass has mario kart tour courses...which means it's the only/first time the mario kart tour courses been remaked
Yes, it's fun. But beating RR is the hardest ever with all those jump panels trowing you off the track. Had to drive Special cup 40(!) times in 50cc to even get 4th on RR (because you couldn't do it in Time Trial without unlocking the cup in every cathegory)
I think it's unfair to hold some of these games to the current standards. Mario kart 64 is one of the goats. It took us from 2D to 3D for the first time, then introduce characters and mechanics that we still use to this day. It is still played heavily, not only by nostalgic people, but by people who have been introduced to it and love it just as much as the current releases
YES OMG mario kart ds at 3 the love for it here hits deep down the mario kart i grew up on since 4 but personally double dash should be over mario kart 8 (no deluxe)
As far as overall gameplay, i undestand 8 deluxe & dbl dash. But Mario Kart 64 is by far my favorite! Easy to play, hard to truly master. Still competitive time trials to this day. Simple, but great!
There are two statements that the Mario Kart community has just accepted as fact that I will never understand. 1. MK64 hasn’t aged well 2. MK8/8D is the best in the series
Mario Kart 7 forever underrated. I think it has better gameplay than Double Dash and DS. MK64 was one of the most overrated games of all time. I'm glad it is rated correctly now. Also, MK8 so below the list is weird. It should be second. It isn't much inferior to MK8 DX.
I feel like it's still the case where people rank MK64 more on nostalgia than anything else. While it does have some great course designs, it's got some really poor and boring ones too. The AI's cheating rubberbanding is straight up ridiculous, the controls are not particularly great and the 2D sprites overlayed on top of the 3D tracks really doesn't look good. It just doesn't hold up against any of the mainline games that came after it, except perhaps Super Circuit. And let's not also forget it's the game that introduced the blue shell.
Nahhh no way this guy picked MK8D as top pick... The least competitive MK game of all time, where u gotta relay on dumb luck to win the matches. MK7 in 6th is a crime too. One of the solidest gameplays ever

The OG is actually pretty awesome... if you develop your skill. I literally beat each cup on 150cc as mini (1st place each race) when I was just a kid.
The OG was and still is fantastic.
Double dash my goat 🐐
Double dash was my favourite
Base 8 over Double Dash is crazy
8 Deluxe is so good, I hope that they don’t change the engine for the next game in the series. I love the way the game feels (I have spent around 100 hours in the game). I think that we just need new battle tracks and new race tracks for the next entry
from inocent snes go kart racing game for a machine of money for nintendo
Mario Kart 64 rocks. The 4 player is fun due to the chances of getting the three red shell or lightening is quite high for the 2,3&4th player. Plus it was the leap to 3D from 2D mode 7.
1:23 the Mario Kart Arcade GP games also come with some really neat level designs and music (which in itself is a banger)
4:55 I also wanna point out the interconnected universe with the tracks, seeing Daisy Cruiser in the backgrounds of Peach Beach and Yoshi Circuit or even Rainbow Road being located above Mushroom City is just such a neat concept that i wish they brought that back in later games in the series
The Best of all forever (for me) is double dash 🎉
mario kart double dash is underrated
The first Mario kart will always be my favorite and the controllers are the easiest. Super easy to drift
MKW is my favourite because of all the chaos and nostalgia, and it’s hard to name a bad nitro track with bangers like Mushroom Gorge and Coconut Mall that even non MKW players know. it also has CTGPR so yeah
mkwii is still my favorite because of wiimmfi
Double dash is the 🐐
Double dash is my favorite.
The fact you put Mario 64 so far down shows your age dude. It was ground breaking at the time
Agreed. Mario Kart wouldn't be what it is now if it wasn't for Mario Kart 64. Who cares if the graphics are dated. It's still incredibly fun.
I loved it when I was 12. Nowadays, not so much.
For me it’s the only one I enjoy. The new ones just drive wrong - super floaty. Put me on MK64 and my drifting is spot on.
Every Mario Kart was "ground breaking" for it's time. You need a better argument than that.
Why do people use this as an argument?
If the list was about which Mario kart game was the most groundbreaking I'd understand, but it's not
Earlier MK games like Super, 64, and Circuit took more time and skill to master.
True. And don't forget DD's drifting mechanics. One wrong move on RR (like letting the drift button go to early) and you would be flung out backwards on the serpentines on the beginning of every lap.
Double dash is fun but hard to master…
Gen Zs don’t like to play games that require skill hence why they love to throw around the words didn’t age well so often as opposed to what they really mean which is the game doesn’t hold my hand like this newer one that I like to play which does.
As an Australian, we have Mario Kart Arcade GP in every arcade.
Double Dash is THE best Mario kart game, hands down. I'm not arguing
3:43 wait wait didn’t coins also appear in super circuit too???
Yes, they did. You could get a lot of coins in that game too, instead of maxing out at 10 like in MK7 and MK8.
8:19 thats sus ඩ
mario kart is kinda like smash bros where a worst-to-best list is usually a slightly out of order oldest-to-newest list mainly because the newest games just have soooo much content so its hard to say honestly that anything other than the newest entry right now is the best one. makes me feel bad for the older games since theyre all great too, especially for the time
7 is simply underrated. It has new mechanics and some really great tracks
Double Dash is #1 hands down
100% agree
Agree. It also has the funniest and best multiplayer experience ever. Nothing beats the fun you have if you can kick other racers next to you and also use that to dodge red shells or other items that would hit you in another situation.
Also having Versus races only against other players and not CPU's makes the experience much better.
Why in the actual hell is double dash not in number 1? It's literally the beat mario kart. Better than 8
Double Dash > The Rest.
thats mass nostalgia bias, but ok.
L opinion
@@larrygriffin4343no it’s not, all the Mario karts that came afterwards are just an absolute clusterfuck, too many carts on the track. Double Dash was the pinnacle of Mario kart
@@MadPaperMariolet me guess, you think wii is the best? If so your opinion is automatically invalid.
Agreed.
8 Deluxe is my favourite game because it has so many characters, courses and items etc, and I would love to see a new game.
3:19 Mario kart 7 at 6 pisses me off this title was easily one of the best by far with all the features they added plus the kart customization I think this earns at least a 4 spot
I'm glad that so many people are acknowledging that 8 Deluxe is the best Mario Kart game, especially with the Booster Course Pass, there's just no competition. I don't know what Nintendo can even attempt to pull out to try and top it with the next Mario Kart, if that's even possible!
MKWii Being GOATED
3:43 coins last appearance before MK7 was in Super Circuit, not Super Mario Kart
2:46 “Mario Kart was considered the greatest Mario Kart game of all time”- Switch Stop
Well said sir, well said. Agreed 100%.
Tour introduces Costumes, Reverse Tracks, new items like Super Bell, Bubble, Ice Flower, Events. You think they're not using any of that? 😭
Regardless of this list, can we at least admit that Mariokart Super Curcuit is better than Fzero Maximum Velocity? If you havent, go play both on NSO right now, then tell me im wrong.
I still haven't played Nintendo since 2012 or something & now have to wait until 2025 for the Switch 2!😢
It took me two weeks to beat the entire Mario kart double dash game, back In the day, when you had to literally pray after two weeks your GameCube wouldn’t fail as you’d have like one 1mb memory card that couldn’t ever hold an entire career. I miss that game so much.
The Arcade game is super common. They have one literally everywhere I know that still has arcade games.
MK64 should be number 2
If you grew up in the 90’s going to your friends house and playing with all your bros was probably my favorite gaming memory’s. In my own opinion it’s still a fun game to play today
My list (sorry for not including the Arcade Ones and Live Home Circuit, but I’ve never played them):
10 Super Mario Kart
9 Mario Kart Super Circuit
8 Mario Kart 64
7 Mario Kart Tour
6 Mario Kart 7
5 Mario Kart 8
4 Mario Kart: Double Dash
3 Mario Kart DS
2 Mario Kart Wii
1 Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe)
My Ranking
12 Home Circuit
11 Tour
10 Super Circuit
9 Super Mario Kart
8 MK64
7 Arcade GP
6 MK7
5 MK8
4 Double Dash
3 Wii
2 DS
1 8 Deluxe
my ranking has the same halves:
12. tour
11. hc
10. arcade
9. sc
8. smk
7. 64
6. ds
5. 8
4. dd
3. 7
2. 8dx
1. wii
MK64 will always be my favorite. "Welcomeeee to Mario Karttttt"
Mario Kart DS was Peak childhood.
I’m only here because thumbnail enraged me. MK64 is awesome.
Your list is criminal. Im old enough to play all of them, and double dash is the absolute best and no other game come close
Don't forget 64 has unfair AI and actually proven rubberbanding.
Thank you for referring to 8 and 8 deluxe as two completely different games 👍
Double dash was way better than Wii
3:43 Super Circuit had coins too
My choice is either 64, Double Dash, Wii, or 8 Deluxe. Hard to choose. Wii my wife and I played it til there was nothing left to unlock, 64 was the game back when it came out, and I liked Double Dash for the chaotic nature of that one. 8 deluxe touches on all the good points, but hasn’t drawn me in like those other 3
Whatever the next Mario Kart will be, just give us all the tracks. Like all of them. I think it could as dlc kinda like what 8 Deluxe did but the classics. I’d love that
7 introduces the one lap tracks
Mario kart ds and wii was my childhood. Me and my brother would play both non stop 24/7
The sequel to 8 Deluxe will just have to become “Nintendo Kart” and incorporate characters and tracks from all the Nintendo franchises.
Mario Kart 7 and Tour are the best in my opinion
i like mk7 but i don't like mkt
I only agree for 7 NOT TOUR AT ALL !
@mecxu761 Tour is fun because you collect characters and fun tours. I've been playing Mk tour since 2021
i can tell that mario kart 8 deluxe, mario kart wii, & mario kart ds are absloute w!
they are legends my boy
i remember watching gameplay of all of them on youtube from different channels such as davidevgen, xRavenXP, and more/etc
the fact the mario kart 8 deluxe booster course pass has mario kart tour courses...which means it's the only/first time the mario kart tour courses been remaked
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I still think Sonic Sega All Stars Racing is the best cart racing game ever.
Super Circuit is so fun, so underrated
Yes, it's fun. But beating RR is the hardest ever with all those jump panels trowing you off the track. Had to drive Special cup 40(!) times in 50cc to even get 4th on RR (because you couldn't do it in Time Trial without unlocking the cup in every cathegory)
They should make a "mario kart multi pack" with all the games up untill the wii, i think that would be pretty cool
how about mario kart all-stars? dd, ds & wii with lan play & online play restored
Finally a good list. In my opinion mario kart 8 should drop 2 places. But other then that. Great job 👍
I remember when Mario kart Wii came out. Everyone was in line for the release of GTA4 and I’m the only guy that was like “nah, I want Mario kart”.
5:39 Imagine if DD had the 16 N64 tracks as its retros just like how SS had the 20 SNES Tracks
YES OMG mario kart ds at 3 the love for it here hits deep down the mario kart i grew up on since 4 but personally double dash should be over mario kart 8 (no deluxe)
I predicted every placement on this list. I feel like its just objectively the best ranking lol
1. MK64 hasn’t aged well
2. MK8/8D is the best in the series
What's not to understand?
1st one is objectively true
Mk8 is overrated. The gameplay is a complete downgrade from Wii
@@TheNadroj10 Wiis controls were dog dookie, especially compared to Double Dash and DS. 7 was a return to form.
@@TheNadroj10 completely agree. I like MK8 but I don’t think it comes close to Wii or DD.
Classic rankings. Gotta love it.
Me Seeing All Of The Items In The Mario Kart Arcade GP Games: The Lore Goes So Deep
Double dash is goat
I love Mario kart Wii
