You just got a new subscriber in me!! This is the most detailed and cutest Cake I've come across UA-cam. So cute. I'm addicted to watching your Cake decorating videos!!
Wow Tracey that is amazing, its so pretty, it must of took you so long to make it, but its so worth it, and its unbelievable that's your first gingerbread house, its so awesome. Well done, think you should of got 1st place in my eyes, 💟
Dyed green coconut shreds go a long way in faking grass. Helps cut down the amount of piping one must do. Gelatin sheets, undissolved, (Amazon n eBay) can be attached to the inside of the windows to mimic glass window panes.
patricia here... holy crap!! its like you were reading my mind!!! i thought -- dont forget to cover the seams-- you did... and a few others... lmao the only thing you didnt do that i thought of was lily pads amd flowers.... what an outstanding job you did on this house!! and congrats on your win
That is just outstanding 👏👏👏 the amount of work, the details are extraordinary artistry,,, wooow 👌❤️💪... May you please make a video about your ginger bread recipe, thank you ❤️
WOW! For a first attempt, that's amazing. It's been over 2 years since you posted this, so I'm sure by now you know, to assemble the house, find cans or tubs or anything small but with enough weight to prop up the sides and leave them like that over night. To hold the roof (I usually do a removable roof) I use plastic tubs filled with water for weight (covered, of course) because they can be stacked to the right height. I love your stone and stucco effects, as well as your window and vine treatments. I don't know why so many put the roof on and THEN decorate it. As with all the other pieces, I decorate it first, then put it on after the base has set. I just do that because it's much more comfortable working on it that way. And, because of that, it's usually better. BTW, is your base made of cookie? I always think it's nicer if it is. Because I make my roof removable (so you can add regular cookies inside), I also decorate the base inside. I love the idea of grass for the roof, especially with the stone look. BTW, do you use royal icing throughout? Because I think you could use buttercream for the grass and flowers. Since you asked, and I mean no offense, but the bird does sort of look like a hybrid between a swan and goose. For a swan the neck needs to be longer and thinner and the wings need to be larger. Swans are a hard one. The bunnies are adorable. Overall, though, it's adorable. I'm sure you did well in the competition.
Thank you Marige! I've only attempted one more house, and I bought the cookies LOL! I felt that this project was tedious, I like piping on a cake much better, I think. Guess I better do more before I form a solid opinion. The base is cookie on top of a wooden board. A removable roof? Interesting Idea :) I do use royal icing throughout because it dries hard and will last months! (Especially since this was just for display) Gotta work on those Sweese. (Swan/geese) LOL! Thanks for your comment and feedback!
@@auntiescakery They do take time. I've managed to get it down to about 3 days because of the time it takes for each area to dry. But that doesn't include baking because I do that ahead and freeze the pieces. As long as I let them come to room temp first, they're fine. Yes, if you want to keep it for a long time, I suppose royal icing is best. But gingerbread tastes so much better with buttercream. Plus, when doing areas like the walls and detail work royal icing is the only way. Myself, I like the pasteurized egg royal icing the best. It tastes the best, anyway. Also, if you ever do another, you might consider crushing left over cookie & mixing it with buttercream for things like the bunnies, swan and bush-base. It's sort of a variation on a cake-pop recipe. It's very moldable. Fondant is good, too, as far as appearance. But for flavor, it's not just edible but delicious, too. Or it could even be used for little add-ons to a cake, too. I've done that. I've made pumpkin shaped cakes for Halloween, then using the shavings from the cake, added some icing and molded that for a stem. It's way better than using the typical rice Krispies. You should try it.
I absolutely love this house and is a huge inspiration for an upcoming competition im entering. How long did it take you to make this all up? Im hoping im allowing enough time to make mine but won't be doing a piped roof as the hand cramps doesn't sound like fun
So sorry It has taken me so long to respond Kylie. It took me longer than I had hoped, but I didn't count the hours, I'm thinking 8. Hoping you do a fantastic job!

well done!!
Does the pond made of piping gel harden? Does it remain tacky? Thank you! Love this GBH!!
It eventually gets hard, but not for a Looong time. Mostly tacky. If you want hard, try using Isomalt :)
hand was tired after that grass... i bet it was! but the end product was well worth all that effort as its beautiful xx
