They should've made the queue line inside of a hospital theme building instead of just standing in a long 2 hour line just outside for the smiler with the creepy music.
I decided to buy a fast pass to see how good it is and it's the best thing I've ever got, I do recommend getting the pass because I got on the smiler in less than 10 minutes
honestly it takes so long to get to the front even with no queue (I got near the front of the queue at 9am and waited) and it took about 5 mins to walk the distance of the queue line, as if we were being lead to our death in cattle pens or smth
Its not called the marmiliser anymore, and amy references to it were removed. It means 'to destroy someone', and references were removed for... pbvious reasons after the horrific smiler crash which left people amputated and scarred for life
So the smiler actually has a mobile app of a game where you upgrade the smiler piece by piece. It’s really good, you can’t get it from the App Store after the crash so you need to get it from a third party and relatively sketch vender.
If Alton towers ever go back to the smiler and do some like TLC somewhere along the lines of nemesis reborn minus the complete retrack (unless necessary) I hope they dip into the original concept a bit more with some of the stuff they do.
I went in the single rider queue with my friends when the normal wait was 2+ hours, and got on in 40, and it was horrifying but great as my first ever rollercoaster
I got in in 5 minutes since my school took my whole year during the school day and barely anyone was there. Probably wasn't a great idea for our first roller coaster ever though because my friend got too scared to go on more coasters after lol

God I love the smiler, I have been working on a smiler au with all canon character and my own characters to bring this amazing story to life in my own way, I plan on making fake building sheets of the ministry of joy facility, including the basement or attic that is apart of the actual lore, where they put failed experiments. I’m also going to be adding some characters that are downers apart of this facility/ program.
i braved the smiler alas last month and it was EPIC. I really wish i could go back already and go on it again. It was such a good ride. The music did my head in by the time i reached the trains to hop on it. And the 2nd chainlift made me feel vile as i hate the straight upwards lifts lol. But it's probably the best or one of the best coasters ive been on. If it wasnt for my soft spot for nemesis with that having been my first coaster i rode a decade ago, I probably would say the smiler is my fave rn. some good coasters in phantasialand in germany to. Theres one with a turbo that is awesome but mad at the same time

Even before it crashed it gave me the creeps it’s like it was cursed.. the amount of issues it had at the start as well I’ll ride it now but only coz I know how safe it is after that incident.. it’s just so creepy that it was that ride and they had to listen to that mechanical laughing while they were in excruciating pain.. it must have been a horrifying experience for them all.. every time I ride now I can’t help but think of all those people who’s lives where changed forever.. still the uk in comparison to American theme parks are very safe.. the fact six flags has had so many deaths combined is crazy
I’ve always been scared of it, I’ve been on it and hated it, I don’t like how much it spins and turns you upside down, the atmosphere too makes it worse
After a bad crash that ended with a few missing limbs the word the “marmaliser” disappeared. The word marmaliser means “to beat soundly or to defeat utterly; to thrash”, which is what happened to the victims of the smiler crash. Because of that Alton Towers tries to keep the word “marmaliser” out of their marketing. I hope I got all the information right! I hate the smiler. It should never have been built. I’ve ridden it twice and that’s twice too many times. I’ll never ride it again 🚫👎. I do still like learning new things about rollercoasters 🎢 and other rides.

The smilers theme was massively undercut.. the station is supposed to be an operating theatre but it doesnt give that at all
