I'm here because after removing the clear face, the tripmeter reset actuator fell out at some point. I found the outer part, the part you push, but it appears there is also an inner piece, now lost. Good job on taping yours up.
@@randallfox3139 No sir. Although I do believe that Jeff had given a clue to the problem in this video I have not had a chance to see if that was the issue.
I've got a 2004 Ford Focus Se with a 5spd manual. It came with the cluster that didn't have the tach so I went to the wrecker and got one that had it. After popping it it I get the parking brake light on and the ABS light. My car does not have ABS. So I've since removed the bulbs for the ABS light and the brake light. Problem is I'm dumb and sometimes forget to unset my parking brake and find myself driving around with it on. Any ideal on what I could do to get it to function normally? Or does it need to be reprogrammed? Ford want 250$ just to look at it.
Ahh ok. I’ve got something similar that I’ve had a while, but that one looked much nicer. I’ll search around the eBay world and see if I can find something like that one.
I have a problem with my ford escape 03. so sometimes when I turn it off it won't turn on no more where the miles are it turns into lines any idea if it's the computer or the cluster? help!
yes it does just when ama turn it on sometimes it won't & it doesn't have a hard time turning on as well it's just that where the miles are at it won't show them
You did that LCD the hard way. You de-soldered the entire connector. You can actually gently pry up on the LCD and it will come loose from the black connector soldered to the PCB underneath. The pins on the LCD are friction pressed into that connector. I probably would have used my iron to drag solder that QFP as well. It's less thermal shock that way.
Totally understandable. Those LCD's can be very deceiving. You really have to look carefully to see how they are connected. And you have to be extremely careful when prying up on them as to not crack the glass. Great video though.
Yep I didn't have any spare LCD's and didn't want to take any chances. Seem's to be a non-common repair so will probably be a while before I see another. You see many?
I don't. Ford clusters don't seem to be nearly as problematic as GM. But I've taken apart enough of them to recognize this type of LCD and how they com apart on these Ford clusters. But as long as you're careful, the LCD has enough give in it to allow you to disconnect it from that socket without breakage.
This cluster was tested by installing it back into the escape. I haven't tracked down a harness pigtail for this model yet. I don't predict seeing another anytime soon.
Got it. If you have the vehicle right next to you - best bench test :) BTW, where do you purchase the paper filters for FR300? There are couple different thickness kinds...

So is the problem with the processor pins coming loose the same as the early 2000s super duty clusters develop?
I'm not sure, it's hit and miss with those. If you figure it out let me know.
@@jeffescortlx I mean I guess that is what I was asking if that is the problem with the super duty ones
For the control side of the battery saver realy. I have tried to fix a couple of these and well never really found the problem with them.
Eddie Reichel Did you ever figure out the intermittent problem with the control side of the battery saver relay?

what's the info on the mat? :) looks like it's silicon based?
It's just a eBay cheapy. "ESD safe" heat resistive mat. But it really can handle heat. Won't melt even if I try. Plus cleans up nice.

Cluster
so the instrumental cluster
so I changed the instrumental cluster and it will still do the same thing last thing I can think of is the computer any tips ?

It was my first time having a escape cluster apart, I'll know to try different if another one comes in.

Any experience with 06 Explorer?
My radio quit at the same time, what repair do I need???
I don't know. Maybe a fuse?
@@jeffescortlx lol I'm just messing with you.. yes it was a fuse... You left us hangin with the " if your radio quit you don't need this".... :)

I used the "Hakko A1033 Ceramic Filter 10 Pack for 802/808/800L/707/706/807/809/817" and it was a perfect for the FR300
do all things that you fix you fix at first attempt? you never record a something that faild
only asking dont get me wrong
I have a video on 07 GM cluster that took 3 attempts at the MOSFET. And another video with a processor that failed that couldn't be fix.
I am from Serbia and we dot have us cars here , all this clusters are "new" only 10-15 years is it posibile that old clusters are beter that newer
Why foed
