For Max’s setup I would have stuck with one 1080 ti and spent the $700-$800 on 2-3 24in monitors

The CRT setup actually makes sense. Some old CRT TV's have pretty high refresh rates. 120hz, 144hz. So he used three old CRT TV's rather than spending thousands of dollars on some expensive triple monitor-high refresh rate monitors.
I think those 2*1080Ti s aren't enough to power up those 480p gaming monitors.

I have been wanting a gaming pc for a while. I have an Xbox but I would love to get into pc gaming. I have an hp laptop, I got it last year but it won’t run any of the games I want it to.
