- After winning his first round match against Joe Cullen at the 2013 PDC world championship, Canadian legend and three-time world champion John Part explains his dismay at not being acknowledged by the PDC as a twice winner of the PDC World Championship.
More than winning twice, the only man who could beat Taylor in the early-mid 00's. Was a great player, deserves more respecct.
Also the first non-British and non-European player to win both BDO and PDC world championship.
He beat Taylor when he was at his best he was winning non stop at the time he was right to feel disrespected and dead right to let his feeling be known .

I remember this interview and he was absolutely correct.

He's definitely under appreciated for how great he was. One of the greatest ever. For a spell he stood toe to toe with taylor when phil was almost invincible. Part is a three time world champion for crying out loud!
The most underrated darts player.
It's not only the fact that he won 3 world titles, people seem to forget that for about 8 years he showed that you could beat Taylor when he had dominated for so long and seemed invincible. He actually beat him many times in that period and ran him close on other occasions, all formats as well. His big flaw was that it seemed to be his final, once he'd beaten Taylor the often didn't convert that into winning the tournament.
Never seen this side from John before, but he makes a good point re the mural. A multiple winner of the tournament should be shown more for his achievements. Top man

his 2003 win is still legendary almost every check out between 60-90 went in and the 77 1 dart on tops with high pressure went is is class that final hurt taylor a lot

Yes i saw that aswell and mark williams first match post interview 2019 world championship aswell when then wouldn't let hes little boy into the dressing room to wish his dad luck. Absolutely wrong. Disgusting. Eddie hearn is the same aswell

Everyone in the game of darts respects him and knows hes an ambassador and a worthy triple world champion. Part is the ultimate opportunist and also can smash in big averages too. He was 100% correct mind you!! A brilliant dart player, avery intelligent guy, & in my view these days one off the best commentators in the modern game.
His commentary is great as well as his darts were, always making relevant and interesting comments, unlike Mardle who just waffles on talking crap..

His comment is totally valid considering that in 2013 there had only been 5 different winners so far anyway - Why didn’t they have murals for all 5 at that point, let alone multiple champions.

Part doesn't get enough recognition he is one of the best ever, 3 time world champion. One of 4 men to win both versions, one of 2 men to win at the Lakeside, Circus Tavern and the Alexandra Palace.
He is not respected enough cos he is not European and I say that as a Scot. He beat Taylor when he was near un beatable cmon the Darth maple

The only reason John Part was not on the wall is because he is from NORTH AMERICA and you brits have something against a good guy coming into "your territory" and beating the best player in the world WITH CLASS AND INTEGRITY!!! He beat Phil before RVB, in 2003, when Phil averaged 100 at a time that nobody else averaged 100! Watching this video just makes me a bigger fan of John Part, he absolutely deserves to have a mural and generally should receive more credit than he gets, he is the greatest dart player behind Phil Taylor END OF STORY

Absolute nonsense, if you were over here you'd know how well received John Part is, he's a very well respected and supported player and most would agree it's a disgrace he was not on the mural. If he wasn't popular he wouldn't have been kept on as a commentator for so long.
People were hitting 100 averages back in the early 80s lol. If you mean "big" 100 averages like 110 plus then yeah taylor did start that trend

and managed to beat Phil Taylor at his prime- the only match Taylor lost in 11 years in the WDC. Also in 2008, he beat Wade and Painter in the Q/F, S/F respectively. At that time, that was not down to luck, not to mention that he got the highest match average in the tournament against Suljovic.

2003 he beat phil taylor in final and under that pressure he hit 77 with 1 dart on double and some u have lucky draw some you dont;)
