Didn't the referee used to call 100 at the end of opponents 3 dart visits vs Taylor more than the 3 dart visit where the referre called less than 100 vs Taylor. It was always more common for a player to hit 100 or more than hitting less than 100 was. Difference today is that today's players look at failing to sustain 100+ scores a lot more and also failing to hit big 100+ finishes and high doubles hit percentage as a big disappointment.
My dad saw him at a Deacon Blue concert at the Royal Albert Hall a few weeks back, said hello to him and apparently was having the time of his life. Nobody deserves it more than Clarky!

I remember growing up in the 90s and Phil was genuinely so beloved, never had any drama with anyone. I don't even know what happened, but all of a sudden he started getting booed and started having childish arguments with younger players.. So strange

Yes at the start of the PDC the level was high as the best 12 players defected but come the years of 97-2002 the BDO had a higher level of standard as the founding PDC players were old and the new crop were all BDO players. The PDC only started to get more competitive when the likes of Barney MVG and Klassen transferred over the the mid 2000s.
Taylor was hard to listen to for his last few years. Constantly confrontational and looking to pick a fight at every opportunity. It's what separates the elite sports figures like Usain Bolt, Lionel Messi, Tom Brady, Roger Federer from the rest. They have the humility to match their talent. Taylor although highly talented never hard the personality to be considered amongst his peers in other sports. Struck me as being a very bitter person.

Phil himself was a master of mind games, i remember when he was losing against MVG. When MVG was throwing he was standing in the background hyping up the crowd. Slowing the game down, walking slowly and in MVG line of throw. So this question was fair.
When someone criticises you and you feel they are wrong you point out their errors and put your point across, Taylor, at this point in his career, was past his best, and was prime to retire, when players get frustrated and fail to admit their decline, it is a very sad spectacle. Always better to retire a year too early than a year too late……. His demeanour towards the end was antagonistic and childish. A sad end to a person who once dominated the sport.

Taylor had the best mental strength in darts. Mix that with the best work ethic and superior talent, it gives you the best darts player we're ever likely to see.

I have more respect for the "Northern" way of speaking that Phil Taylor uses. The guy B1ing questioning, he does not pause and you can tell the lack of the pause to assess the other person's statement is a massive failure of communication. He's literally sunk cost fallacy in what he originally said.
