There were _always_ rides and attractions closed down..if my memory is right, I think it started when ownership changed but I could be wrong on the timing. Ones that stand out were the blizzard water ride, the spider, Houdini, the slingshot, and the scrambler..but maybe there were others, but those are the ones I would have cared about lol. I remember we were always disappointed and I always wondered why. Now that I’m older, it makes sense it would just be a matter of staffing. The park looks so different now. Some of it is unrecognizable!

Also agree that there are almost no shows this year.

Thank you for another one of these! My chances of ever returning there are slim to none so I really enjoy seeing the changes, and re-living Riverside at the same time!

I wasn't surprised Goliath was gone but I really wanted to ride it in New England before it retired even though my last ride on it in California was horrible 🤣

there's a ride that's a way better version of the exact same thing in idaho for what it's worth. its at a park called silverwood that's the most out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere theme park ive ever seen

Thanks Jay. I haven't been since Wicked Twister went in. Low crowds seem like a good reason to go while I'm on vacation this week, but I can't shake how close this looks to my Geauga Lake walk-thru the year before it closed. Sadly, I think we may lose a lot of parks the next couple years. We'll see how things are at Lake Compounce today.

This year they pretty much doubled their admission prices so I'm not surprised it's not busy. Greed is taking over at a lot of parks now. Not accepting cash is ridiculous as well. Money is and always will be legal tender.

I guess they can get around the cashless aspect because they offer a fee free way to convert your cash to card. It's pretty cool you can use the Visa debit card they give you anywhere in the United States that accepts Visa. I wish more parks would adopt this practice. In regards to the admission price increase, it has improved the guests experience tremendously. Those crowds last year were horrible. I rather pay more money for less people any day. I'm sure, on a local level, another aspect of the increase was because they were closed the entire 2020 season except for a ride less Holiday in the Park. Overall the price increases have helped a lot when it comes to crowds and the park is making the same if not more money off tickets it's a win win

Great walk through and background stories. They recently painted the Kidsopolis sign. We have a season pass and go there quite frequently. Based on your enthusiasm though, it really needs something. The water park needs a lot of paint. I'm surprised with all the upgrades they said were coming in terms of eateries and improvements (paint, etc.), none of it really materialized. Crossing our fingers hoping something nice goes in. Prices of season passes have gone up drastically and the upgrade to preferred parking went from $15 to $20 a few weeks ago.

I forgot about the Empanada place where Fireball used to be that just recently opened in the last month.

Great video! I went every summer back in the 70's all the way up to the 90's. Then we found Cedar Point and only went back a few times for Superman. I have fond memories of the old Riverside Park. Sad to see it turned into a Six Flags.

I also wonder why you can not use the cut-through between Harley Quinn and Joker.

I don’t like that parks are going cashless, especially six flags. Look at your audience, it’s mostly 16 year olds dropped off by parents. 16 year olds don’t have debit cards, and I doubt parents are going to trust them with their cards. If they had to go cashless, yes take debit cards for those who have them. But have another option similar to dave and busters, go to a kiosk and load up a $100.00 on it, and you have parents who don’t trust their kids solved. I personally don’t want to risk losing my card, over risking $100.00 cash, I’d be fine with the kiosk. Granted the issue with that is leftover 5cents, but if the park fixes it too where you don’t have a odd leftover amount it still works.

The park website claims to have kiosks throughout the property. I don’t recall seeing any when I was there. And they claim that any pre-paid Visa card will work. But I still can’t understand why they eliminated mobile payments.

The Visa ReadyCard kiosks at the park accept up to $500 with a $1 minimum and can be used anywhere in the United States that accepts Visa. There is no fee to convert your cash to card however after 92 consecutive of no use $3.95 will be deducted each month. They even give you a Six Flags branded card. It's quite convenient and much easier for park operations as money does not need to be counted and deposited from the many point of sale locations throughout the park. Lake Compounce did the same thing this season. Sucks they got rid of mobile payments though I would love to know why that is

The food was alot better before the pandemic hit. They had two bbq joints that had fresh bbq that tasted home made. I'm sad they got rid of them

I am SHOCKED at how dead it is there!!! We used to take our son there every summer. It was never that quiet! He’s 19 now so we are talking from when he was younger around 2008-2018 because once he started driving he & his friends could drive themselves.

Do you know if they are opened during Christmas? I know they do the lights in the park, but wondering if the rides are opened like most Six Flags that do that event. I will be in MA in December and would love to visit.

The rumors at this point are that they’re not doing their Holiday in the Park this year.

It's so upsetting and sad that Goliath is not there anymore. I love that roller coaster as much as both Superman and Wicked CyClone. Now the skyline to the park is different

Most parks are taking a hit with this inflation. Probably why it's dead. Cashless society marches forward.
