    We recently turned our side yard into a large garden area and I had plans to add some seating to this space throughout the summer to give us somewhere to hang out outside of our tiny garage house.
    I still have a lot of project ideas to tackle, but I decided to build a hammock stand first.
    I didn’t want to put this DIY hammock stand into the ground in case we decided to move it around to another spot in the yard or we move and want to take it with us.
    So I built it with a floating deck type base to weigh it down and a pergola top to give it some extra strength and also a little bit of shade.
    In this video, I'll show you how to build your own hammock stand with floating deck, pergola, and privacy screen!

    Pressure treated lumber gets a bad rap still. It's actually safe now and can even be used in raised beds for gardening. There's no arsenic in it anymore and hasn't been for some 20 years. Just don't re-use old stuff....

    Great build. Is there any movement on the 4x4s when in the hammock?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 роки тому

      They don’t move when I’m in it and they don’t wiggle when I swing. But if you push or pull on the front posts pretty hard, they do wiggle some. You could add some more supports at the top corner, but it’s really not a big deal (at least for me) so I didn’t bother.
