We had a lot of plans for the 2016 zx10r going into this project, but we didn't expect this! We were able to get our hands on a 2022 zx10r engine and dropped it into the 2016 shop bike. This wasn't in the original bike build plans, but we couldn't pass up the deal. Aside from the zx10r engine swap, everything else will go as planned. The new kawasaki zx10r engine will still have the sprint p08 filter, dyno tune and other goodies seen in previous videos. This is what the road to a 200whp ZX10r looks like!
Gen 5 zx10r with Gen 6 engine, Will a Gen 6 zx10r engine fit in Gen 5 zx10r? Does the gen 6 zx10r make more power than the gen 5 zx10r? We'll see today!

Not a big fan of this gen zx10,but with the 22 engine in it,the power in the mid range at 7.5k rpm is all you need if you aren’t looking for top end, akra is the best system on a kawa, most race teams use it,some use arrow or a combo of akra and a gp style sc,if you want a louder exhaust maybe a shorty exhaust will suit you,but for me I would keep the akra because of the mid range power,18 hp!! a lot of horses!!

18whp was totally unexpected for a midrange gain! The bike pulls like a freight train thru the midrange now. The gearing is still 17/39, whereas the stock gearing for the newer ZX10Rs are 17/41. So technically I'm on a leggy gear setup and it still is a monster!
This bike is super impressive now and we are continuing doing further research on it

Totally a good gain in the midrange,I never expected that tbh, akra is the best, but keep doin what you're doing!!maybe you should try 16/41 for more acceleration or at least try going down one in the front it will make the bike pull even harder,I have an acceleration kit on my bike a huge difference!!

Did you have to swap to a 2022 ecu or harness m

@provenpowercycles did it run at all on the 2016 tune or did you pre flash a 2022 map into the older ecu? Sorry for the questions. I'm looking at buying a gen6 motor for my 18

So a zx14 header fits a zx10, good to know. Look forward to seeing the results from a different exhaust setup. I’m getting closer to what I need to have to come see you.

No sir this is a 2019 ZX10R Akrapovic exhaust that we put on a 2022 motor. But he'll yeah man! We are here plugging away getting shit done ! 💪💪

I think the Akra will have the best midrange out of any other exhaust, we will see.

Was the oil cooler being different a big issue? Thinking about doing the same since my 2017 through a rod. Only concern is it being exposed down below and get punctured. I do a lot of riding out in the country roads

We had an issue with coolant resevoir. Had to cut out a small section on the inner cowling for it to fit right. The oil cooler isn't too big of an issue and we plan on doing a delete here soon on it.

Also, I'm not 100% sure on the newer gen 6 motors but you can try to look for a radiator/oil cooler guard for it as well if you wish to keep it

from 2013 and on, the engines are the same. same crank, same rods, pistons, cams, gears, you name it. if you dont believe, you can just go look the part numbers of engine parts. the exhaust made a big difference, and the oil cooler. that is why the new one has an air to oil cooler, rather than a water cooled oil cooler.
