I rescued a horse in Virginia in 1975 in Virginia, a bay mare named Penny. I was in high school and I paid the horrible owner 300 dollars for her. Brought her back to be beautiful. She lived the rest of her life being loved....
What a fab horse, after a crap start and 12yrs of service, she finally gets to kick her heels up. I hope whoever gets her treats her like the star she is. Well done WHW and the Army for treating her so well.
What a wonderful gift. Penny is so beautiful. This remarkable story brought tears of joy. So elated. Penny will now enjoy a life of semi retirement and joys of riding the trails. Thank you for sharing.
You would never know that was the same horse that WHW rescued. Incredible. Well Done, Penny, WHW and the military folks for giving her a new lease on life - from neglected to splendid.
Penny's recovery is wonderful, such nice looking horse. It's very cool that she's been helping the military and has been in fun parades from time to time.
Brilliant, Penny! You are so beautiful! I am really impressed by WHW - your commitment and compassion are stellar. Blessings on you for all you do. I am happy to know you are doing such great work in the UK.
You are to be commended for your outstanding work in rehabilitating Penny and for giving her a useful job as well as a bright future ahead. God Bless you!
Wonderful work I'm sure you can be proud of Penny and WHW you do amazing things that can't be matched. Thank You for sharing your beautiful videos and voice for the horses!
The US really needs a system like this! I knew someone with the Army's Old Guard Cassion Unit, the closest analog in the US to the artillery horse unit in England. He said that many of the horses they are donated are Penny's age or older when they get them, and service life is hard on these horses. The Cassion Guys would be grateful for some younger horses.
Well this post is quite old but I need to make a comment anyway she is absolutely stunning! A true rags to riches story, and so full of love I don't know how anyone can just hand over the reins per say without choking up! I'm balling like a baby I guess mine stems from because I take them in my entire heart and soul but I also know they know that she's going to a place that is perfectly fantastic! I wonder if he ever thinks of her do you ever hear back from the King's guard ? if I remember correctly that's what you called them. Nonetheless I hope her retirement was exceptional!
Penny is a very lucky horse. She's had 12 years wonderful care after an appalling start. I hope that she will be allowed to live out her days as a pleasure horse in a loving home with a few hacks a week and an equine companion or goat for company.
What an amazing organization this is. I commend you for the work you do in not only rehabilitating these deserving animals, but mostly in the obvious love given to each one. God Bless you for caring enough to make a difference in the lives of these beautiful animals.
Penny, enjoy your retirement, you deserve it You are an awesome organization. I know you will make sure that Penny is always taken care off. THANK YOU!
Its beautiful to see how she went from an emaciated foal to a wonderful King's Troop horse. You have done a wonderful thing with Penny and I am glad she got to live an amazing full life.
