    The enclosure and all the decorations looks like a hell of a lot of money!!! So impressive!!! A serious professional job!!!

      omg thank you so much! Overall it wasnt bad! I got the enclosure with an animal that I got in a rehoming situation, and then of course CRH sent me the kit for free, but their stuff is priced pretty good considering the quality of it all! They do have just the backgrounds if you didnt want a whole kit. I was originally considering just the background which was just under $100, but I really wanted the kit, so Im grateful it worked out! Definitely one of my favorite enclosures! 😁

      @@zareptiles looks totally Awesome!!! As soon as I get more trantulas, I'm going to start collecting snakes and lizards next year!! Can't wait! I'm in the process of getting ready to move, and right now I have 9 tarantulas and 1 scorpion to soon be flying out to Reno Nevada! They are riding safely in one of my suitcases!

    Roughly what percentage Topsoil/play sand/reptichip would you say you used? I'm trying to set up the perfect bioactive milk snake enclosure for my rescue.

    • @zareptiles
      @zareptiles  3 роки тому +1

      Honestly I’m pretty bad at estimating percentages… I just keep adding and mixing until its the consistency that im looking for based on the needs of my animal :)

      @@zareptiles Thanks for your answer! I'm honestly kinda glad you didn't have an amount estimate, cause I JUST set up my snake's enclosure last night, and it would have been frustrating to miss by so little! Thank you so much for your video, I think Louise will be very happy in her new space!

    what type of heating do you use for his enclosure?

    • @zareptiles
      @zareptiles  4 роки тому

      he has a heat mat hooked up to a thermostat. the substrate level over the heat matt is lower than the rest of the enclosure, so he can access the heat

    Do you have tips on taming down milkshakes? I am on good terms with all my other snakes but my first snake I ever got and currently my oldest (still not a full adult), apricot, does not like me. He doesn’t do damage and he pretty much only musks but I’d like to make him feel more comfortable around me. I have always kept him with the appropriate care but I hadn’t given him enough attention when he was younger because I was inexperienced so he’s still a bit hostile and doesn’t preferred being picked up. He feeds wonderfully tho and he’s a cute boy.

      @6strings735 3 роки тому

      Milksnakes are flighty, especially when young. If yours is not an adult, then it is acting like most milks do when young. After a few years, it may get a little better, but it may never be super calm. Nature of the beast. But they are still amazing pets, interesting, colorful and not at all difficult to deal with.

      The guy who rehomed him to me said he bought him from a breeder as a mexican. Everytime I post that hes a mexican I get people telling me hes not, but no one can agree on what he is, so Im sticking to mexican because thats what he was bought from a breeder as😂

      Is it a Pueblan Milksnake?

    • @6strings735
      @6strings735 3 роки тому

      It is a Nelsons milksnake I am fairly sure. Still comes from Mexico, so it is a "mexican" milksnake. But the true Mexican milksnake type has a black belly with white enroaching, or white belly with black enroaching, but not a red belly with white. Also, that would be quite a large Mexican milksnake. Most are much shorter, and most have an orange band on the head.
      If I had a nickel for every re-homed animal that I got that was mislabeled, I would have, well, maybe 45 cents, but you get the idea.

      @@fabricebahler2903 4’x2’, so 48”x24”. More than enough room for him to stretch out. One of my personal reptile keeping goals is to keep my snakes in enclosures in which they can fully stretch out in as well as climb should they choose :)
