Such an interesting and informative video it makes me want to buy some Jade - the history behind it is fascinating and it was a pleasure to see the building of the forbidden city - what an amazing work of art 🥰🥰 thank you Aileen for taking the time to research this and educate us all 🥰🥰
Hi Jay Dolls, i am so glad you enjoyed it, i just wanted more people to know more about it and also to appreciate it as the younger generations don't seem to be interested in it at all..🙏😍
I humbly thank you for taking the time to watch and so kindly leaving a comment for this video, i am truly grateful. i only wish to preserve this heritage for future generations, as i worry more of the younger asian generation does not see the significance and beauty of this cultural heritage.
Hi Aileen this was an awesome video, on Jade and the ancient Chinese cultures, and the English Monarchy, as well. I had no idea about the nails in Chinese Customs, You did a great amount of research and editing, I loved every second and wished to see more. The jade pieces that you showed were magnificent. I think I need to add a little Jade to my life. I also loved the Asian gown that you were wearing, just as elegant and fabulous as you are.
HI Nancy, thank you so much for taking the time to drop by and watch my videos, as usual you are so kind to watch and leave a comment, it really encourages me to work harder for my channel. @@NancyRounds Hi Nancy, thank you so much! likewise i love having you drop by and watching your content too, you have such a wonderful warm personality, i am so glad you got inspired to watch Audrey Hepburn's movies, i love them all so much.
I think we can learn a lot from that kind of thinking of the British Monarchy at that time…So interesting! I didn’t know that fact about nails either! Seriously I see jade *type items a lot when I’m out sourcing, but I’m not sure how to identify authentic jade, so I should take time to learn more!
HI Nordic Mango, yes i think it was so brave of them not to leave the palace even though they were like sitting ducks. the nails, nowadays chinese use but they try not to nail stuff at night time because its the same taboo, daytime is okay but it just goes to show how much the chinese in the past were so superstitious. i think you should look into the old "jade" more because those are mostly authentic, as opposed to new jade, but then again, you are not supposed to wear back someone else's jade but there was once i bought an old jade and it brought me luck. you need to look at the clarity, the high clink sound when you knock it against glass and the carvings on it, the more carving, the more intricate, then also do not be fooled into buying cheaper quality "decorative pieces" like the ones they sell at fengshui shops which are just purely decorative. you can find other videos on imperial jade in my channel then you can have more ideas on it.
I cannot believe how deep you got into the British history! 😮 I minored in history, and I knew a little about Queen Elizabeth I and her love for pearls, but I didn't know the rest of that about the crown jewels. I want to just sit down one day with you and talk with you until you're blue in the face.🤣 And the 15 million dollars US was sooooo much money back then, not that I have that blowing through my own fingers, but inflation is ridiculous now. The Emperor was LOADED!💲
I wish i can talk with you till i am blue in the face, not many people know about how much interesting facts there are in gemstones, it was auctioned off a couple of years ago for that amount, because of the provenance of it, imagine owning something that belonged to that Emperor, you should watch the Last Emperor, it will blow your mind.
Hello, thank you for watching and taking an interest in jade, you can go to any Asian shops specialising in jade, its best you do so instead of going to a jewellery store that just puts a few pieces of jade there, the best places would be to buy it from Hong Kong, they have the best setting and good quality burmese jadeite. You may also browse through my website at www.thepearlatelier.com.
Hello thank you for watching and leaving a comment. In ancient times, jade was very costly and well beyond the means of ordinary people even if they wanted to get them they simply will not be able to afford it, even if they came into possession of it, they may even be accused of stealing it unless they were gifted by it by someone they worked for. The jewellery makers were making the jade exclusively for the Emperor and the nobility. I read about this a long time ago and it has been told amongst some chinese for generations, who bother to inform the next generation about their culture, even amongst the chinese, i can guarantee 90% will not even know this.
Ok ... I am breaking out some of my jade pieces but I have something more special and valuable ..... my Pekingese Dog ! I have had Pekingese for many years and they are so loyal and regal ! I do have Chinese people coming up to me while walking him and they ask "what sort of dog is he , he is very cute !" and when I tell them he is the National Dog of China they are so surprised ! Yum Yum is the Emperor of my house and our Street .... and Aileen, he know it ! lol
Hi LadyKoko, i am so happy to hear that you will be airing out some of your jade pieces, they should be worn and not just kept for a special occasion. Oh my i wish i could see your Pekingnese dog Yum Yum, he sounds absolutely Regal. actually come to think of it, i seldom see Pekingnese dogs nowadays, thank you once again for dropping by to watch, i truly appreciate it.😍🙏
