Great guide! Just add a few more tips based on my experience: 1. Try to stay close to Fatalis instead of running all over the maps. His fireballs and charge attack have massive hitboxes. 2. When Fatty is standing, try to stay under his crotch and get ready to roll out of the way to the side when he tries to do the pindown attack if his belly takes enough damage. If Fatty is 4 feet on the ground, stay next to his head and get ready to hit it after fatty does those short and long biting attacks. Evade windows 3 - 5 help to avoid getting bitten. Very importantly, get away from him if he does the charged fireball following a diving attack. The diving only takes place when he is angry in the first and the second phase. For the third phase, he does the follow-up diving when he is not angry. He does the 3 charged fireballs when he is angry instead. For the first one, he will have his four feet on the ground, and he will stand up starting with the second charged fireball. For that just stay close to his crotch and hit his belly. 3. If I do not remember wrong every time before you break his head, he will show two flinch animations and get from four feet on the ground to a standing mode. This is a good indication to check how efficient you or your team is at hitting the head. 4. Do not spamming dragon pods because that can cause your team many chances to punish his head. Use it only when someone is pinned, trapped in the cone flame, or fatty keeps running around or do the charged fireball plus diving attacks. 5. Stay on the half side that is close to the gate in the second phase, otherwise, you might not reach the gate timely. For the third phase, if you are trapped in his AOE attacks and cannot run to the safe zone, a well-timed ancient potion or max potion can save you from carting. Your teammates can also save you by giving you a life powder at the right time. 6. His attacks are faster and harder in the third phase, so avoid getting too aggressive. If someone plays insect glaive in a team, try to get a successful mount, so he will fall on the ground for a while for you to hit his head. Note that if you break his head while mounting or someone, he will not fall on the ground, and that happened to me once. Also, try not to sleep him or paralyze Fatty when someone is mounting, do it either before or after the mounting. 7. In the third phase, he will have that 360 degrees breath. For that hide under his armpit that is on the opposite side of where his head turns initially. Avoid any ariel moves near his head unless you have the temporal mantle active. There is a blast hitbox near his head in the air that can possibly one-shot people who are in the air. 8. If it is possible, hit the dragonnator when Fatty's health is around 10 % (showing skull marks on the map), that can just skip the last AOE attack and straight-up kill Fatty. I remember for the first few days, I had several quests failed due to people getting caught off-guard with that last AOE attack. So, skipping the last AOE attack reduce the chance of having more undesired cartings and save you some time. The only shame is that you will not hear Proof of Hero in the background.
Your moni tutorial helped answer the question i had with where to i go with the 360 breath attack. Finding him very annoying atm as i keep getting one shot most of the time and was unaware of where i should place myself which you answered for me and for that you have my thanks
@@Deadshilz For the 360-degree breath, hide under Fatalis's armpit that is at the opposite side of where his head tilts, and that is one blind spot. If you are far from Fatalis, do the superman dive.
I eventually got Fatalis maining Lance. It took ages though. Agree with items and basically all of what's said here, some of the guides for Fatalis focus on defensive skills, you have half an hour, you need to get the damage dealt, this is loads better. Especially opener and main, exactly what I did. For opener: It's worth grappling his head with clutch claw boost to wound it after you use the cannons (as he's falling down) then unleash on his head even with your opener set, agitator isn't important so full attack and peak performance are great. Mantles for opener were ghillie and rocksteady (to avoid roars staggering when shooting cannons). Farcaster once you have shot him, damaged his head then wall slammed him. I like to wall slam him with stones but pick up dragon pods for if I need to flinch him with two shots after. For main set I definitely went with coalescence over fire res for extra damage, much better deco investment. I prioritised partbreaker over peak performance for the headbreaks. My mantles were fire and temporal, take them off asap to recharge them, peak performance on the fire and heavy artillery on the temporal, fire mantle helps proc coalescence too. Temporal is perfect for firing the siege weaponry safely but beware of conebreath and the roaming ballista! Palico: I did take my palico but that's a personal preference thing. At first I used plunderblade for parts enough to build the Fatalis two piece, after that it was about breaking the head for the evil eye parts so plunderblade wasn't too useful. Once I was properly going for the farm or the kill I used meowlatov and gave him para weapons over dragon. If para procs (seems to work more than half the time) it gives you another long period on the head, that's important to survive later phases and for those sweet evil eyes. That gives you chance to build the four piece, then the weapon, then the full set. If you are solo farming and you want to make your life easier you can just return from the quest once you've broken his head so you get rewards but you can keep the special assignment with 5 lives rather than the even with three. Lance specific: Best legs to go with the 4 piece are kulve taroth alpha for that sweet peak performance. The alpha Fatalis give you guard3, you need guard 5 for this fight. Guard up is needed unless you're feeling extremely lucky. Don't stay away from him unless you're kiting him to the dragonator, guarding those fireballs is a bad time. Unsheathe when medium to far away when you can safely (don't dither) and just run to avoid stuff. Beware of air pressure as Fatalis flies off for a Nova and try to be near where you need to be or you may run out if time. You can guard dash to prevent huge knockbacks on the close to medium stuff. You'll be recovering from knockback a lot into powerguard and you'll need to clutch claw from shielded position so learn how to do that if you don't already. Easier to practise that on Alatreon though.
great guide i remember is was using same of golden rathian for devine blessing, but i was contently failing due to time out due to sharpness loss, later i changed the build to velkana gamma head and legs for crit element and 3 peices of teostra for teostra tech then it was much easier.
Thank you very much for this very well done video and details of the different builds. This is one of the by far best and relaxing vids to watch and understand. I am stuck on the mandatory solo quest for fatty and I just can't get it done. I'm a bow main and I have seen like every single video out there that I can find and it just isn't working. I don't have all the armors, not every single jewel yet, lack of skill is also an issue,... I am a pretty new player and not have much knowledge yet about how to build and what and where. But I try. The community is great and helpfull at a lot of times, but I just can't get this beast down. I know get gut and it's a skill issue and I realise that also. But Lord after about 200 attempts with different gear and the limited jewels (even though I farm it every day. RNG isn't in my favour) It really gets frustrating. I am at a total loss here. I really, really want this mandatory quest done so I can farm the full fatty fight. carting is a must and part of this game, but I don't see the reason why it has to be THIS difficult as an average player.
Over 2k hours into this game and this is the most satisfying fight when you clear it. Keep at it, you can do it if I can. I played primarily with randoms because non of my friends played MHW. But best tip is go for the head and make sure you break it twice. If you don't you will spend the rest of the fight trying to stay alive and not doing damage, and probably timing out.
now i just still need to beat alatreon first for his gear... honestly master rank kulve, alatreon and fatalis killed the game for me, noone i knew kept playing after they came out because they just felt like unbelievable difficulty spikes, not to mention that NOONE liked fatalis being the final boss, everyone expected it to be him and we all sat there crunching our teeth hoping it wouldnt be him, yet here we are
You had trouble with master kulve? That's a pretty easy monster lmao. I admit ala was very frustrating and even made me stop playing for 2 weeks but I eventually decided to take him seriously and forged 2 weapons from scratch specifically for killing him. A Kjarr ice and safi fire long sword and maxed them out in every way I could think of. I started soloing ala like nothing lol, and helping all my friends kill him. Fatalis can't be compared to the other 2 at all because none of the other approaches seemed to work. I've never been able to solo him cuz I run out of time but I have beaten him several times with random people. He really is very hard, but I get the feeling you and your friends aren't that good to begin with lol. The most satisfying feelings I've ever had in the game were beating ala and fatalis. They only suck if you can never ever win. You guys give up way too easily.
Jandabear, Great guide as usual. My question: In your intro you say (sounds like) Minikins here. Is that your name or term of endearment. I've been wondering about that for a long time. thanks.
yeah same here, she's the only one i watch MH videos. I am not joking, i havent watched any MH content since her last video, i just have zero interest, her videos were so good i was excited for each one. I hope she returns
Does the kinsect summoner build work on this? Been using that build lately and it’s amazing. Makes tough monster fights easy. The blunt kinsect will KO monsters quite often.
A very nice tutorial. Thank you for reminding me about the Divine Blessing buff, I forgot it was in the game. But one question still remains: When I use the Roaming Ballista, I use 2-3 smoke-bombs to keep him from seeing me, but sometimes Fatalis will just attack me anyway, knock me out of the smoke, and roar at me like he didn't know I was there like a liar. How do I keep this from happening?
it takes time but use your cat with the plunderblade along with the ghillie mantle. your cat can steal 3 items max then just return from quest when the cats stolen 3 items. it may take 15-25 runs but you will get an evil eye. there are several you tube videos showing the technique
