My uncle met him. In his words he said "He’s a very nice guy. Very quiet & pleasant. We did a few shows with him when he was touring with Neurotic Outsider."
Clearly he is such an intelligent, feeling guy. A real thinker and feeler, probably an empath, which would have made his level of fame, adulation, and insanity of being so hot and famous almost unendurable for him. Hence the drugs and alcohol. Even though he is likely stoned out of his mind here, the real JT is still there, articulate and in touch with his thoughts and feelings. Good for you, JT, you have become victorious over the demons that threatened your existence and have made a good life
John was calm and collected through the interview, maybe a bit high but still in control and thoughtful. When the reporter tried to call them "teeny pop" he kept his cool and put him in his place... John's very smart, they all are.... 40 years later they're still here.
So wise for his young age. I didn’t like the way the interviewer asked the questions. Guess JT showed him that he’s not a “teeny bopper” and nor was DD ever that type of band. So much talent and creativity, today still in 2021.
He shouldn't have to apologize for what he has succeeded in. He started the band and had the success. Why can't he show it off? He was young and excited about it. He's such a dear. He cares so much about the band and music!
They’re so much more intelligent than people credit them for, I’m glad they were able to make-up and bond again to create a wonderful friendship between them :)
There is a huge difference between bands back then and now, we have to remember John was a huge star and the handsome of the 80s but also he is a super good musician and he is talking about George from Culture Club which were at the same level back then, who is also an amazing song writer and musician. These guys were not only pretty faces, they were smart and with a deep music knowledge at that young age. You dont get to be number one at 21 years old just like that. These bands will always be remembered while the ones right now are just a bunch a models with instruments and no brain that will be forgotten soon.
Awh John 😭😭 he's clearly upset about how they have been treated hurts my heart 💔💔 I think they are sweethearts. They where and still are extremely hard working musicians. John is the most amazing bass guitarist and singer. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and went through alot. He said himself how lonely he was and how he felt he needed the drink and drugs. Doesn't take away from how great he was and is to this day in everything he does
Isn’t he?❤️ I don’t think he was high at all! All those comments.. he’s just soft spoken, sensitive, passionate and ambitious. I so deeply adored him back then...still do today. So much love and respect for him and the whole band.
@@JC-yz1sf He is an emotion guy even now. Here is a sensitive man and very sweet and normal. Yes he had an addiction but he got help and people need to stop bringing it up in every comment. If he only knew what people are saying! Shame on them. I think he's inspirational for getting clean and sober!
Joe Elliott of Def Leppard said in an interview something of this sort: Back when we started our band, The Beatles had been broken up for 10 years, the Rolling Stones were barely reaching 20. No bands had been around for 30 or 40 years, and stayed together as mostly a while. We have. And so have Duran Duran! Rock-on my two fave 40+ year Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bands!
When talking about Culture Club, no one ever mentions their musicianship. With DD, John’s playing style and basslines are frequently brought up as are Nick’s synths and Andy’s guitar riffs.
It's so hard to see how much is John upset and that man just called him "teeny pop" are you kidding me right now?! John is a kind, honest person with a good soul, empathy and lot of deep feelings.....Person who has the prettiest face and everything (I know he wouldn't like to hear that, but it's true), (very) great bass guitarist,....He has a great sense of humor, fashion and music ( Bryan Ferry is really good singer at Roxy music band).... A big idol of 80s ( I'm really a big fan and admirer of him, i have a lot of posters in my room)....and the way how he asked him is not really permissible and isn't the right way.... It was good of John to keep calm and don't take it personally....please never tell these sh*ts again
This interview aged well for JT, not so much for the interviewer. Now those "teeny boppers" are all in their 50s and 60s, still listening, still going to their concerts, along with new generations of fans. DD is sill making great music...certainly didn't "peak"at 23...
John is great these days. He's sober and off drugs for almost 25 years. He's fantastic now with his wife of over 20 years. He also has a daughter and two stepchildren.

It's like he's from another, more evolved planet

When Rio was only two years old......now in 2023.....not many bands can say they're still playing now.
I think you're unaware that lots of bands are still playing now. You should really get out more
If I was alive at this time, I would seriously want to give a John a big hug because I am so heartbroken to see him this upset🥺🥺😭😭
They’re so much more intelligent than people credit them for, I’m glad they were able to make-up and bond again to create a wonderful friendship between them :)
I love me some JoSi
It turns out that John is an excellent interviewer. I saw him interview Billy Idol and he was amazing!
Oh I saw that too, it was great he's an awesome guy they all are they truly know how to treat others 🙌🙌✨❤️
John is such a gentle and nice guy like he really has deep feelings
How rude is the interviewer?! 😮😡. He handled it so well, with such maturity. Well done John! ❤
Not nearly as rude as his subject

Great point. I totally agree!
Its amazing how so many great bands become divided and get jealous of each other. Glad to see John and Simon were able to resolve their differences.
2021 everyone still singing Duran Duran songs
Yep.. and now they are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Well said. I agree wholeheartedly!
Por dios John Taylor que hermosa persona, que hombre tan bello de pies a cabeza
An to think some 40 years later…Duran Duran is being inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF. No teeny bopper band, are they. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
John is so damn adorable here!

That face of his 👀🥰
Wow handsome John Taylor 😍😍
Oh yes, totally agree!
He looks like he's gonna cry! Poor John. To this day he wears his emotions on his sleeve. But he and DD showed everyone they have staying power!

Bellissimo John Taylor
hermoso mi john x siempre te amo
@David bull he's very articulate and very clear about his point if you didnt get it then you are the one who hard to think
OMG!!!! How cute are John and Simon?
Just saw Duran Duran perform in Vegas! OMG amazing show! Certainly have lasted the test of time not a “teeny rock band”
Just saw them this year too!! They were incredible!! 🤩😍
When talking about Culture Club, no one ever mentions their musicianship. With DD, John’s playing style and basslines are frequently brought up as are Nick’s synths and Andy’s guitar riffs.
Omg, why couldn't I have met and been dating Simon. He is so adorable🥰🥰🥰
John Taylor and Simon Le Bon rule. I wonder if they still dance.
I dunno about them, but I hope to still be dancing by the time I’m a hundred- slowly, of course
Yeah. They still tour, just saw them!!
❤ John Taylor ❤️. Tu. Eres mi vida. Mi amor ❤️. Mi corazón ❤️. Mi. Cielo
Beautiful Simon ❤️❤️
Que guapo y tan durce 💓🥰
great video

Simon e John amici, ma anche rivali di cuore!❤
Simon u are gorgeous
JT tras de bello.... También inteligente...
Such a beautiful man. Love you JT, always.❤🥰 Duran Duran was never "teeny bop." Jesus.🙄
I want to hear more about the attacking wombat!!! Sound slike a great story.
Gorgeous.
And there's gorgeous Nick!
Sono e saranno x sempre i migliori amerò i duran x sempre
I can tell he was a little altered.lol.but still beautiful
Was this supposed 2 b shown
Who are the fallen idols the interviewer is talking about?
John sad 😢 and why Boy George.?
Culture Club was about as big as Duran in 83 and 84, as well as Wham! and Spandau Ballet.
John looks and sounds weary and tired of the whole thing. not much later and it all imploded, sadly. Simons still looks quite keen.
John is great these days. He's sober and off drugs for almost 25 years. He's fantastic now with his wife of over 20 years. He also has a daughter and two stepchildren.
@@JOHNNYSGIRL1960 I guess the whole fame rollercoaster thing just became too much at that stage. they've certainly bounced back!
Pissed and probably stoned. Hard to talk and think

He was mostly doing drugs and alcohol when he wasn't working. Drugs started 90s not 80s according to his book.
@@JOHNNYSGIRL1960 according to his book he was on coke before the 2nd album. Though then it probably wasn't as bad in the 90's
@@hyruled3g That's what I meant! Thanks!
