Basic question, what does the Ditra actually do? Does it make your floor into a completely waterproof area, like you could fill the aeea with an 1" of water and it would just stand? Or is it just something needed between wood and tile to adhere everything? Thank you
So Ditra is an alternative to cement board. 😊 It’s not as thick, a lot easier to work with and yes it can be completely waterproof. You can add a “band” around the edges that creates like a little “cup” and yes it will “hold” water within those parameters. That is why I went with this system - because we had a leak in the bathroom before and it was a nightmare. So I added the band all around the edges. You can’t do that with cement board. 😊
