I purchased a new 22lr Henry Golden Boy a while ago & have marveled at its smoothness & accuracy - I fitted a skinner peep sight which seems the perfect option for it - I might just need a 22 Mag after seeing this - well done Ozzie on another honest review👍

Ozzie, thank you for the wonderful review of the Henry 22 Mag Classic. I really appreciate the passion you bring to gun reviews. Several years ago I bought the Henry Frontier Rifle in 22 Mag. A silky smooth action, octagonal barrel, and gorgeous walnut stock just add to the fact it is dead nuts accurate. Anthony Imperato at Henry is 100% sincere when he says to email him if you have any questions or issues regarding Henry Rifles. Anthony will personally respond to email. Anyway, thank you again. Once this Covid business ends, I need to come over to Queensland from Seattle to get shooting lessons from you. Great shooting, 1” at 100 yards/meters!

@@conservativesniperhunter7439 Yeah I love the 22M, I have 3 rifles in 22M, very under rated caliber, I think the cost of ammo has held its popularity back some what, I can reload my 223 cheaper than buying 22M. 22M will drop critters bigger than what you mentioned, it all comes down to shot placement, put a 22M in the right place and it will put a roo to sleep.

When in the market for a lever 22Lr a few years ago I looked at both new and used Henry rifles but didn't like the powder coated receivers. The used one's I saw all had paint chipped off and looked a bit rough. I ended up saving $300 and bought a new Norinco copy of the Winchester 9422 and it has worked just fine but doesn't look as nice as the Henry.

The fact you can obtain MOA (and in a lever action rimfire) speaks volumes. I can this rifle using Federal's 50gr projectiles making for a perfect combination for fox whistling and putting my CZ-453 in 17HMR to the test! Thanks for sharing!

Part of ownership of a gun is the cleaning and maintenance, could you slow how you would clean this gun? A lot of lever guns can only be cleaned from the muzzle end, and that can be damaging to the rifling... some lever guns come apart with a single screw though. Love your work, Dan

OzzyMan ,I enjoyed your review , and watched many of other videos on the lever and pump magnum. No one pointed out how cheap and shotty they are put together , otherwise I wouldn't have been so disappointed when the pump I bought HOO3TM new out of the box wouldn't even chamber a round , it took 29 tries shoving the pump forward to finally chamber a round .whatever was holding it back broke off , upon further inspection , I found the barrel is riveted to 2 steel pieces of flat steel with only 1.5" creating a breaking point , don't drop it , it's riveted together like an ak47 , with three rivets , I paid 700.00 us for it and called Henry , they wanted me to send in a new in box rifle to be fixed , thus costing me more money and time , I asked them would they replace the cheap pot metal cartridge guide with a steel one , they said no , I asked for my money back and they would only offer their cost 500.00 , not what I actually paid . So I told them I would keep it and discourage as many people as I can not to buy one before they understand how cheaply it's built , they actually copied the cheap Rossi pattern , very sad . Had I known what to expect going in , I wouldn't have been so disappointed , I kept it as they are the only company making a pump magnum , and it mostly works , I will always be looking for a better one .

Although I'm not sure, but it seems that the gun gets a bigger spread and gets inaccurate as the barrel gets warmer after 15-20 rounds through it. Have you noticed anything like this?

Wow!! How generations have changed the definition of high quality. My Henry has cheap looking spray painted alloy receiver cover, plastic forearm band and nice looking wood very poorly fit. All of these reports on you tube about Henry products sound like commercials. Accuracy wasn't bad, for a lever action carbine, after trying 5 different loads. It did not like the three 30 grain loads I tried. But, the 40 grain CCI varmint was tops ( 5 shots in 1.25" at 100 yards). Still, way too expensive for the lack of quality in material and appearance for these old eyes. This rifle was bought on Gun Broker, without seeing it and trusting all these reports on UA-cam. Big mistake, but lesson learned!

    9:55 - "three ways" :)
Anyone with a tube magazine 22 / 22 mag might want to consider a "Speed-D-Loader". Ok, it's slightly slower than a magazine change, but I think they're BRILLIANT. I can put 120 rounds through my Henry 22 in a surprisingly short period of time!

    • @tedhart7708

I had one of those for my Marlin 60 .22LR. It proved to have fatal flaw. The little plastic loop that the spring hooked on to that holds everything together broke, spilling dozens of rounds all over the floor! Very fragile. A stronger material would make it much nicer.

I bought one of these with the octogenarian barrel 3 weeks ago I have put 19 rounds through it. It’s been at the Henry warranty dept for most of those 3 weeks, It is going to be picked up by ups and going back for warranty.
The problem is a ragged ring inside the barrel rifling.. Hopefully they will change out the barrel this time instead of just cleaning it. I’m a henry collector but Im really disappointed in this one .

Hi mate, just drop into your local gun shop and they will ease you through the process, you will need to do a rifle safe handing course at about $100.00 and I strongly suggest you join the SSAA as this will make your licence application very simple plus they offer a great deal on firearms and accessory insurance, yes you will need a gun safe before you can take one home and yes unless it's huge and heavy you will need to bolt it down and preferably to the wall it backs up to, this can be done while you are waiting for your firearms licence to come through. All the very best with it mate, your entering a great sport with awesome people throughout its ranks.

@@craignapoli Thanks for the info. I mean we got really silly laws due to stupid or seriously negligent people which puts not paintball game as weapon but anything which "throws something away" marked as weapon..I grow up knowing gun culture and had my first air rifle in elementary school in some distant land before coming to Oz but it is really sad how government took all the rights away after one tragic incident. Guns dont kill people, people kill people...(oh and idiot drivers with mobile phones do kill more people...)

I got the henry h001 22 wmr, with cci maxi mag fmj my grouping was horrible. Probably under 2 inch grouping at 100 yards. I can do half inch grouping with my cz 17 hmr. I don't know if my henry is bad but it is by far the worst rifle for accuracy.. i did a 200 yard test, and i was getting 14 inches grouping. I think this is a good rifle for plinking cans and bottles at 50 yards.. but if you want accuracy, the henry in 22 mag isva very bad one. Btw, i also use anschutz and cz.. a cz rifle is about the same price as the henry.. but the cz us wayyy more accurate,..
