Groovy long legs has got to be my favorite boss. The music that it stomps around to is so cool as he goes faster with the different colors. And the fact that the Pikmin can get sprayed and dance under its disco head like an actual party is just so hilarious to me. So glad it made at least top 4.
I love the Frosmoth purely because it is that great Nintendo example of giving you a mechanic in the earlier sublevels, giving you a chance to show how it works, before dumping you into a more threatening boss arena to allow you to adapt those mechanics to an enemy. Really also shows off how amazing the theming is of the caves to where that is the true mechanic of the cave and continues throughout, which is something that was sometimes lacking in Pikmin 2's caves.
Fun fact, the Masterhop is called that because the regular enemy versions have been renamed to Wollyhop, which was their British English name. Same with the babies, the Wolpoles
Something about the toxstool not mentioned is that it acts as a cleric and will rush to revive enemies you killed. It's a cool idea for a pikmin enemy.
My favourite boss has got to be man-at-legs. I knew going into pikmin 4 that it would show up at some point due to the trailers, but I did not anticipate that I would first encounter it in the Olimar Epilogue. I gasped when I saw it on the kitchen counter.
I encountered it a lot sooner than that. I can't remember when but it was before I started the Olimar epilogue which I did very late into my playthrough. I think there's a total of 3 of them across the storymode and Olimars side mode.
I played through Olimar’s Epilogue immediately when it was unlocked as a change of pace from the main campaign. At that point the cave you’re expected to first encounter it was in the next area.
Quick note about the Arctic Cannon Beetle, it actually debuts in a cave in the third area while the Hprned Cannon Beetle debuts in the fourth area. That fight has no ascent and a larger arena, but the snowballs cause icicles to fall from the sky when they hit a wall and the room is refrigerated until you break three cooling obstacles in the room.
The poison the Toxstool lets out causes poison mushrooms and enemies to revive. The Sovereign Bulblax is actually an Older Emperor Bulblax and will leave the pack once it gets older.
The Sirehound was amazing! It was a fun and dynamic fight! Easily the best! Though, The Groovy Long Legs was just awesome too for the concept alone. All the other bosses were either rehashes or didn't feel threatening at all! I wish more of the bosses in Pikmin 4 felt grandiose like the bosses of Pikmin 3.
Waterwraith wasn’t as scary because they toned down his ai by a lot Back then he used to see you and not stop chasing you. Now if it sees you it will keep roaming. It became a husk of what it once was and I much prefer the old waterwraith as it’s no longer such a threat
Also, they kind of spoil it by showing it in the cave's intro image. Anyone who played Pikmin 2 knew what to expect. Also, Oatchi kind of nullifies its presence as you can just carry your Pikmin to avoid it. It is a minor annoyance at best in Pikmin 4.
The top 5 hardest bosses in the final boss cave (my opinion) 1. Ancient sirehound 2. Sovereign bulblax 3. Empress bulblax 4. Titan blowhogs 5. Man-at-legs
@@WhitePikm1nwhat are you talking about? empress bulblax is actually hard because its at an advantage, which is you cant attack the weak spots; the back and the front. you basically have 2 centimeters of space when fighting it if you have dandori issues and are a coward and spam bomb rocks, you wont know what im talking about
Quick tip for the final Empress Bulblax, if you don't want to deal with it being a pain in that small arena, bring 8 bombs and chuck them at her head. She doesn't move when they explode, so you can kill it with no risk of being squished.
I was kind of disappointed in the puffstool in this game it was my favorite boss in pikmin 1 because it could actually turn your pikmin against you and I just feel like it had a huge downgrade in this game
I had Oatchi break them because by then he had the proper equipment to deal with it and I didn't bring yellows. In addition, the fireballs that the Ancient Sirehound spits at you can activate the scorching furballs.
That dark red power that the smoky progg and ancient sirehound is called gloom. It’s the opposite of glow pikmin where the glow pikmin can stun all enemies the gloom effect can instakill all pikmin.
I consider the Puffy Blowhog a major enemy and would've included it on this list, but I otherwise agree with you. The stuff that the Smoky Progg and Ancient Sirehound use it called gloom and has no explanation for existing.
You can rush the burrowing snarget with oatchi when it’s barely popping it’s head up and if you have enough pikmin basically instakill it. That’s how I took them out most of the time
the titan blowhogs also had the ability to push back pikmin with their attack, which made it hard to attack sometimes as they'd toss pikmin, then attack and send ice or red pikmin away the Sirehound really is one of the best bosses, and it keeps up the theme introduced in Pikmin 2...of all final bosses having access to multiple hazards as attacks but do wish they made the Sirehound the true final boss, and made it so that it used every possible hazard...and forced the player to use different pikmin to attack it
Instead of choosing the official arctic canon beetle fight you chose to talk about the gimmicky one at the end... Didn't mention the titan blowhogs faster attack and higher damage with knockback. Didn't even talk about the toxstools ability to recreate spore patches and revives dead enemies... Doesn't know the alternate way to damage giant breadbugs.... For my sanity i cant watch any more, lest i hear more mistakes...
The official arctic cannon beetle battle doesn't change at ALL how you defeat it, the exact same easy pattern. And the Titan blowhog is still a breeze and extremely basic as all you need to do is rush it with oatchi and you can one shot it with just over 50 pikmin.
You actually can damage the Giant Breadbugs without dragging things to the ship by throwing purples on top of it, the shockwave dealing a chunk of its hp, much slower than the other way though
They don't count puffy blowhog, which is basically the boss of the drafty gallery cave, but include the jumbo bulborb, which is basically a regular enemy in night expeditions and MAYBE counts as a miniboss in cavern for a king. WHY?
For the Burrowing Snagrets, I found an easier method to kill them. Wait for them to slam their beaks, not peck very important, into the ground, where they get stuck. After that, rush using Oatchi. Repeat once or twice. Boom. Dead
Yeah, my first time fighting Sirehound was rough. The Sirehound's howl at the end wiped out a good number of my squad due to the deadly gloom puddles. Fun fact : When he is in yellow mode he tries actively to kill you.
I also love that the music comes FROM THE ANIMAL’S BODY

Toxstool also revives dead enemies and poison mushrooms. Sovereign bulblax shouldve been separate because he is a lot harder
I mean, they are harder, but I never had an issue with them. Just feed a bomb rock and then charge on Oatchi with a hoard of pikmin, and it dies.
They also have a completely different attack.
You can actually kill the Giant Bread Bug by throwing 10 Pikmin on top of it
