Two things: Moss is a girl The 3 Koppaites are actually NOT replacements for the Koppai explorers in 3. It is shown in the game that they are all related. Don speaks about a partner he has he nicknamed Ducky. Nelle is related to a famous botanist, and Alph and Yorke share the same surname. Its referenced that the events that caused Pikmin 3 have not happened yet, but are hinted at happening soon, as they say that Koppai is having a booming population crisis, and that they will eventually run out of food.
@@terra_creeper its more so a retcon and sequel to pikmin 1. The events of pikmin 1 are retconned. The pikmin 2 and 3 events did not or have not happened.
There was something really ominous in the House level I don’t see too many people talking about; there are suitcases by the door. It implies the previous occupants were going somewhere, possibly in a hurry, and they forgot or were unable to take their bags. My best bet is that sometime in the present/near future humanity needed to flee earth. Quickly. They may have thought they were coming back, but never did. They went to Gyia (which clearly looks like “Gaia”, the Greek mythological figure for Earth) with their dogs and evolved into the tiny people and Oatchis over 97 generations, about 1000 years.
The kitchen's gas is still burning despite there being no one around to cook, sinks still filled with water too and the freezer draw with the ice onion has been left open.
I believe what can be deduced by the shepherd logs and the piklopedia entries is that humans left PNF404 for some reason and after generations the humans might be all the little characters we know now, forgetting about earth through generations and eventually finding themselves back on PNF404. Explaining the DNA connection between the pups (Edited a typo)
I have this same theory but more fleshed out about why the humans left PNF-404 : So here's my theory, in the past, the humans created an AI that could help them save their civilisation from ruin due to multiple problems like the pollution, the extinction of others species etc. Eventually, that AI thought that the reason why every PNF-404's life forms were at the edge of their end was because of the humans themselves, and that civilisations on any planets meant the end of life on said planet. So it sent nuclear missiles all over the planet to make sure that all kind of civilisations disappears from it. Few humans could escape this and those who did went to planets like Hocotate and Koppai. Eventually, their descendant became smaller and smaller until reaching the same size as an ant. During this time on PNF-404, the human that had stayed on the planet also became smaller, and turned into the pikmins. Also, among the dogs that stayed on the planet, very few of them turned into the ancient sirehound. As for the AI itself, it robotised some creatures to destroy any kind of civilisations. Some of them were already encountered by Olimar such as the Gatling groink, and the man at leg. Finally, the reason why everyone are always crashing on the planet is because there are magnetic fields around the planet generated by the AI itself to assimilate their ship, so it can send itself on others planets and destroy their civilisations, making it a huge threat for the universe, and a potential villain in an upcoming pikmin game. That's it for the theory, what did you think of it ?
I think I remember Bernard saying that the actual reasons lumiknolls want to attract enemies to them is because it absorbs the energy of the enemies when they die, and use that energy to produce glow sap, which also explains why they disappear whenever you kill them at night.
What i dont get is why they produce a sap that kills plants including pikmin (it kills the pikminification of leaflings, curing them, and thus would likely also kills pikmin themselves despite this never being shown as it immidiatly gets collected during a cutscene.) It doesnt really make sense, especially if pikmin are looking for leaflings to lead them (because why produce something that would "kill" your leader?)
A random side note that I got from night expedition dialogs that I'd like to share relating to glow pikmin. While the rescue corp was talking about ghosts and if they believe in them, and Yonny says that science has yet to disapprove the existence of ghost. But that's not the interesting part, what is tho is that he asks why we never find the carcasses of enemies that were defeated in daylight during night expeditions, and then the same carcasses reappear again at day. Just a random thought lol
It's never actually explained what the life support system is, just that is one and its powered in some way. That's actually why theres no day limit in pikmin 2, because the ship isn't damaged and can therefore power the life support system indefinitely. Also, it's explained that Koppai hasn't had the food crisis yet, so 4 takes place at least before 3. Personally, i think 4 is what happens after the bad ending of pikmin 1. Which is sorta implied by the shipwrecked tale ending. Plus, the devs have said 4's placement in the timeline was left up to the players imagination. So it's whatever you wnat it to be.
I think because the ship is damaged it can’t supply olimar with life support causing a time limit pikmin 2s ship is just not damaged and 4 probably would use the sparklium to fuel it and last thing 3 also doesn’t have a broken ship but they need food to survive
. . . . . . Olimar recovers all his ship parts like in 1. But Moss stows away on his ship. Prompting him to turn the ship around. Unfortunately, that's when his life support started to give out. He crashed again. And he ended up getting turned into a Leafling.
How I feel is the situation was that first there was pikmin 2 which has olimar heading back from the planet as it seemed to be a regular route for him but then Louie ate all the golden carrots which made olimar have to go Back and then the events of pikmin 2 happened. Then after pikmin 2, pikmin 1 happened which was when Louie was apprehended and removed from the delivery corporation and olimar isn’t usually so clumsy, but after Louie was fired, he fell asleep and next thing ya know, an asteroid hits his ship and tumbles him into the first game. Now, you may say “oh! The bad ending is the canon ending then” well not quite, as olimar does actually escape that time because otherwise he would’ve had a black pikmin stem instead of being the red leafling we see in pikmin 4. Therefore, pikmin 1’s good ending was the canon ending and he flies off back home for a nice l title vacation with his family before heading back out on his missions, but while he was on vacation, Louie stole olimar’s rocket which blasted them back to the forbidden planet for olimar to get captured by the plasm wraith and Louie to get captured by the maestro, to which the people of Koppai had to save them after they scrounged around for the food they needed in pikmin 3. After saving olimar yet againc, he thanks them and heads off after being dropped off but then, after some time to recover his lost ship, olimar came back only to crash into another meteor, which this time he discovered moss, who he collected all 30 pieces to his ship with, but then moss snuck onto his ship once more because, well it’s an alien dog, so what else would I say about that? So then olimar crashed and tried to put moss back but they just kept refusing to leave him be, which means no matter how many days you had left, moss would refuse to leave olimar and so he dies and the pikmin turn him into a leafling, and after getting the call for help, pikmin 4 begins. Any questions?
@@jaykay8426 The black Leafling stem on Olimar's head in Pikmin 1 was BEFORE the Leaflings' general design was ever fully conceived. And a lot of signs in Pikmin 4 point to it being a hard reboot.
@@LittleAl016 you might actually be right about that but you do have to remember also that moss did not exist in pikmin 1. Therefore the only chance that there would ever be a sequel was if olimar successfully escaped
The sirehound having similar DNA hints to the possibility that oatchi and all the species we see (like koppaites, hocotations, etc.) Were once humans from earth who left and evolved into what we see now. Sheperd also notes how her ancestors and rescue dogs were from a "blue world". Olimar also notes the depictions of human astronauts are a bit too familiar looking.
To be fair, Louie taking the survivors and trying to turn them into leaflings is explained by Olimar. Olimar says he always told Louie when they were working on their home planet to watch and learn (or something along those lines l can’t remember exactly what he said). Olimar says that he’s glad Louie is finally taking his advice but disappointed by the fact that it’s not the way he wanted. Example: Louie saw leafling Olimar turning other survivors into leaflings now Louie is doing it.
I just want to give my two cents: None of the pikmin games are removed from the timeline (okay, maybe only pikmin 1). Olimar's log says "I had a nightmare that we weren't able to pay back a debt quickly." Key word is "quickly" because in pikmin 2 you DO pay it back eventually. Being in fear that you can't pay back something quickly implies "quickly /enough/" meaning failure. Also, Louie mentions in one of his logs "I ate the special shipment given to me by my boss, now I have to come up with an excuse" meaning pikmin 4 is actually a prequel to pikmin 2. With this in mind, that also implies that pikmin 3 has yet to happen as well, so it's also not removed from the timeline. Edit: Also I meant to say that when olimar says "A debt" he doesn't say "the debt". "A" meaning "some generic unknown debt" and "The" meaning "this one" or "that one" implying it already happened. So his nightmare could be forseeing the future somehow, with him not knowing about a generic debt his company would soon go into. (Which might make sense because time dilation is literally canon in this game which... sheesh that's a whole can of worms.)
Also, isn't Olimar's mission mode in 3 Deluxe all about him getting stuff to pay a debt? And not the same debt as 2, but meant to be the reason why Olimar was back on pnf 404 in 3.
Plus the shipwreck tale takes place before he officially leaves PNF-404 after supposedly first crash landing, and the side story in 3 says he only visited twice before (I know it's because 4 wasn't made yet, but this would still hold it consistent)
The Fact that Olimar pilots the S.S. Dolphin in Pikmin 4 lends further evidence to the game being a Prequel to 2, if not 1, as the Ship was Repossessed as part of paying the Debt that Hocotate Freight owed at the beginning of Pikmin 2 - the Debt, by the way, was because in a separate Mission while Olimar was away, Louie ate the Expensive Shipment of Golden Pikpik Carrots he was meant to be Transporting! While Olimar could have Re-Purchased the S.S. Dolphin awhile after the Events of Pikmin 2's AfterStory, the other evidence in Pikmin 4 suggests otherwise. Most of the Dreams Olimar has involve Events that occur in Pikmin 2 onward, and are usually only found in his Logs from while he was Shipwrecked on PNF-404 with the real possibility of Life Support running out. Since Olimar doesn't relate these Dream Events to anything he's previously Experienced, we can safely assume *these Logs happen before the Future Events they actually Foreshadow:* the _Hocotate Freight Debt;_ the Pikmin _Turning him into a Leafling_ (though his Nightmare ends before he'd have seen that *the Pikmin were actually saving his Life,* not Finalizing it); and so on... The Latter Event mentioned is actually found in *a Log Olimar made in Pikmin 1,* which has him mention a Dream in which _"...the Pikmin picked me up while I was Sleeping, and carried me to the Onion, and fed me to it! I seriously doubt the Pikmin would actually try to do this, but I might try to find a safer place to Rest in Future..."_ - this is however, a warning as to *Olimar's Fate in Pikmin 1 if you don't manage to repair the S.S. Dolphin and Escape PNF-404 before the 30-Day Time Limit, a Fate made Canon in Pikmin 4!*
I think the reason everyone crash lands on PNF 404 is because Earth's gravity is way more intense than anything all of these tiny ships have experienced.
@@lisah7113 Its most likely an alternate universe as there are several references to events that happen in 2 and 3 that cannot match with this game's timeline since 2 and 3 go with the 1st game's timeline. For example, by the end of the game, Louie says something along the lines of, "I remember my childhood of eating golden Pikpik carrots, I want to go on a mission with golden Pikpik carrots so I can eat them", implying that is his thought process when he ate the Golden Pikpik carrots that started the events of Pikmin. The Koppaites in 4 also talk about their planet's dwindling food supply and overpopulation. The reason why the latter example cannot be in the same universe as the first 3 is that the Koppaite's SPEAROS picked up PNF 404's signal and its fruit. IF this was in the same universe, the Kopites in 4 would have already told their planet about said fruit and would have brought back said fruits to Koppai, solving their food crisis before it even began.
I'm mixed. I'm disapointed because I waited 10 years to see how the cliffhanger from 3 would be explained, only for this game to be a soft reboot. However, i'm glad that we even got a Pikmin 4 at all and that this game is so good. It seems like the just decided to reboot the series because they didn't know how, or just didn't feel like continuing the story from 3.
@@xaviernieves1132 There is just too much information that disproves it, there is a lot of information that the Koppaites in Pikmin 3 established and My personal theory on why Olimar was discovering things for the first time is because when he got leafified it messed with his prior knowledge of the Pikmin, only relying on the Voyage logs he didn’t have at the time of the crash
That's not a bad theory, but the reason I think its a reboot is because the Koppaite overpopulation and famine from 3 is implied to not have happened yet, and Olimar dreams about the Hocotate Freight debt from 2 and shrugs it off, which means that it didn't happen or just hasn't happened yet. The way the game describes these previously canon events seems like the developers wanted to say it was a great reboot, without saying it was a reboot. I respect your opinion, this is just what I believe.
If you speak to the 3 koppai pilots they actually all reference the original pikmin 3 pilots. Speaking to them we learn that Don Bergman had a partner who he called ducky when he was ranger aka Charlie, Yorke has 13 brothers and one of them is an engineer like him aka Alph, and Nelle has a sister who is a botanist with a big appatite aka Brittany
Actually, the blue Koppaiate seems to be the only younger brother of Alph, and they mention Koppai is heading for a food crisis so I'm still firmly believing Pikmin 4 takes place before 3.
@@Joepiez yeah I saw that the game is like their running out of food and stuff also in one of louie’s logs he talks about how he wants to eat golden pikpik carrots and he only needs to wait for the right delivery job
This one is kind of strange, so bare with me on this but I got kind of convoluted theory on what's going on. It's safe to assume this planet is Earth, so for the sake of brevity I'm going to call it that. We see no humans on the planet, but we do see many perfectly preserved objects which each count as a "Treasure" full of an energy called Sparklium. But we can also deduce that much of the wild life from Pikmin to Bulborbs is clearly unlike any living earthly creature so the planet has been able to change and mutate and evolve over a long period of time. Time is able to be bent as seen in Caves with a 1:6 time dilation factor, so is it a stretch to assume that the Sparklium in Treasure somehow preserves objects and keeps them inert through time or resistant somehow to mutation or change? So, when we look through the treasure we see a curious description on the "Buddy Display" (which is a framed photograph of two dogs) from Captain Olimar. “What mysterious and fluffy creatures. I can't find evidence of them in any of the existing creature databases, but there's something familiar about them. It's almost as if I've met them before... I guess I'll chalk it up to an ancient memory that's been imprinted on my genome.” A reference to Jungian blood memory which made me shout when I first saw it. It changes everything. When we take it with the idea of the Sirehound being either the father to all dog-like creatures (including Oatchi, Moss, and Olimar's Dog Bulbie) or one of the remaining living specimens of the ancestor species (or at least very closely related to that species), it becomes clear not only are the dogs originally from earth but that it's very likely that the little people too are from Earth and are likely related to humans. They can eat the food from Earth, they look like humans, they wear clothes use technology and have money like humans. Sure they're an Inch Tall and Oxygen is poisonous but maybe humans shrunk over millions of generations to have better use of space, and Oxygen too is poisonous to humans in high doses with our atmosphere being mostly diluted with Nitrogen to protect us from Oxygen's harmful effects. When we take that into consideration a timeline becomes clear. 1.) Humans leave the Earth for an unknown reason bringing dogs with them, possibly because energies are mutating the wildlife letting it breath fire or conduct eletrcity or fly or be made of rocks or ice or glow and what not. 2.) Humans become smaller and life on the Earth changes because of this energy that give us the types of Pikmin and enemies we see today. 3.) Meanwhile Treasures full of Sparklium are unaffected by time's passing even when they're eaten or merged with animals, possibly benefiting such creatures like the Sirehound, a dog who is made immortal by his sparklium infused collar but is subject to change despite it's efforts by the mysterious energies which gives it many powers. 4.) A single tiny person retruns to the planet, Sage Leaf, he's brought dogs and lands first on the planet and discovers Pikmin. He dies gets leafed, and the dogs go out into the wild eventually birthing moss. Due to leaflings having excellent health and time dilation from caves it's impossible to tell how many generations go by, Moss might be first generation of 100th from the dogs Sage Leaf brought with him, either way, Moss was born on the planet and is living alone. 5.) Olimar, comes to the planet, has his crash story play out, dies, gets leafed, but before then sends out an SOS singal attracting everyone to the planet. 6.) The Game happens. I might be reaching, but to be honest, I like my theory a lot and this will be my head canon for the series moving forward.
To me it’s an alternative timeline in which Human’s are still around as the House in Hero’s Hideaway is still in pristine condition. We just never meet one as the game takes place in a small location (aka someone’s house and backyard lol) on the planet rather than us exploring all of PNF-404. Even the castaway’s could be explained as they honed in on Olimar’s distress beacon, so we don’t have a need to explore the rest of the globe.
It doesn't have to be an alternate timeline, we can just chalk up the locations of the last 3 games to littered landscapes, since those are absolutely a thing irl
I disagree with the theory of all the crashes being caused by guidance interference for one big reason: Olimar straight-up states that there's some kind of "force" causing ships to crash. There's never mention of anything messing with the ships' systems. It's still in-line with what we've been told from the other three games where something, maybe something related to the wraith enemies, has some kind of reach a bit off of the planet, hence the strangely guided asteroids that keep hitting the ships or just pulling the ships themselves out of the sky. See: Umibozu theory
It's impossible for the apocalypse to have been recent as If you read the entry for Olimar looking at the dog photo he implies that his race and likely everyone else in the game are descendants of humans. I think there's something weirdly mystical going on as even with an apocalypse there's just no way that everything would be in perfect condition like that. There are many references in the game pointing to something ethereal or alive pulling people in and keeping things alive somehow. The Pikmin leafify people in hopes of finding a leader
I can’t believe how long this game is to 100%, took me 61 day in-game journey 63hrs real time first play thru and I probably could have shaved 5 hours off if I really REALLY hustled to get as much done as I could each day… I JUST yesterday beat the game 100% and I’ve been playing it almost everyday since the day it released!
8:42 if you interact with them in the hub after all are rescued they talk about how they are related to some other koapaits which are a famous botanist, a 13th cousin who is just as good at engineering, and one other but I don’t remember right know. So I think 1 and 2 might be retconed but three happened after 4 for sure as they also talk about how koapite is fast approaching a food shortage due to and I quote “booming appetites, a rapidly growing population, and a basic lack of planning”
5:45 I dunno if it has to do with different translations, but (in the spanish version) the reason Glow Pikmin glow is to attract beasts, not for fun, but as a method of "forced evolution. " "Some species need to put themselves in danger in order to thrive."
5:46 - I like to think when Glow Pikmin overcome a creature and destroy them they atomize their body into either food or glow pellets which help propagate their kind, which is how it works in game and why enemies don't leave a body.
So i believe they just mean that the sirehound is just same species as the common ancestor and as well looking thru logs from items and stuff olimar theorizes that the humans are his ancestors So the implication is humans left earth (with dogs) colonized space and over time shrunk to adapt to new planets as wel as eventually forgetting about their original homeworld until olimar rediscovered it
I believe the different leafling colors have the abilities of the pikmin of the same color like olinars leafling form color (red) gives him the ability to resist fire and pack a meaner punch than other pikmin and/or leafling colors and the sage leafling would be resistant to poison and poison the enemy when killed
My theory is that in this timeline, humans have not gone extinct from any apocolypse. One of the biggest evidences for the extinction theory was the geiger counter going insane in pikmin 1 indicating a possible nuclear apocolypse. But in olimars shipwreck tale, the geiger reappears, yet is completely silent and unmoving. Along with the fact that almost every area has nearly prestine human structures.
After the ending of Pikmin 4, what if the Pikmin were to come across the Sage Leaf (who stays behind and remains a Leafling)? They'd get yet another leader to guide them.
For me it looks like they remixed 1&2´s story and set 4 after that, with the koppaite food crisis being hinted as lead up to 3. Maybe the reason everything looks so intact could be that sparklium might be some sort of conservant. In my headcanon the lore of the series is (among other things) about distant ancestors of humans re exploring their home planet.
(Something tells me he didn't complete olimar's adventure... the S.S.Dolphin SHOULD be in that final cutscene.. Also.. have you read all the data files and um.. TALKED. TO THE KOPPITES.. like..they refrence Alph, and brittany. Even Yorke is considered Alph's brother due to the similarity of multiple siblings in the drake family. ...dude.. needs to pay attention. Plus I bet this is a prequel to pikmin 3 deluxe. Since it's technically olimar's third visit on the planet.. (His crashlanding.. returnin to help oatchi, then pikmin 3 deluxe.) (Also look at the Voyage logs..)
I wouldn't be surprise if in future games. Louie start talking about a new genesis is at hand and I will be the creator. In Pikman 4 he was already trying to turn people into monster/creatures like Leafling.
What about Sage Leaf??? They're not reported as a missing person, and seem to have been on PNF-404 a long time. Could Sire Hound be Sage Leaf's rescue pup?
A really good question to ask that might answer a few questions is who was that old liefling man who refused to be turned back I don't think he's was one of the castaways who responded to omars call. Maybe olimar isn't the first to arrive to pnf 404
I'd like to think that the "retconning" that Pikmin 4 does is more like the Zelda series. Both were created by Miyamoto, so I'd believe that Pikmin and Zelda simply have split timelines now and the new games can just jump around and go back and forth as they please. The Zelda series has been doing it for years, so why can't they have another series that does that?
As a character he is much more but in pikmin 4 he is just that a filler for leafling olimar but in pikmin 2 and 3 his existence and how he makes everyone’s lives more miserable shows even more than it did in this game
If you read all the entries for the smoky progg ( or the loading screen tips) the red substance is officially referred to as “gloom” and is very reminiscent of gloom from Tears of the Kingdom.
If you look at the event of the alt ending of pikmin 1 it flows pretty well into pikmin 4. Situation where we have a timeline split from pikmin 1 to 2 & 4. And then pikmin 3 is after 2 but not connected to 4
I doubt anyone will ever see this, but this is my take on the pikmin story. My theory is a meteor crashed on earth, and it had radioactive substances on it, causing the apocalypse and mutations. it killed off all the humans, and mutated lots of creatures (explaining how the creatures sometimes resemble earth creatures) . I also have a theory that on the meteor was the plasm wraith, since it just seems too unearthly to belong to our planet's animal kingdom. There are also many theories about the plasm wraith being the Umibozo, a creature that seems to crash ships, explaining why there are so many freaking crashlands on PNF-404. The plasm wraith would for some reason crash ships on this planet. The reason it does this (just a theory) is that it being from a different planet, needs to consume food from the same/close by planet. Thus it kidnaps Olimar and slowly eats him.
To me is not that there was like an actual apocalypse, it's more like Pikmin and the creatures there work in sort of a fairy logic, or like the minish from zelda. People cannot see them most of the time. Also, it may not be true, I heard it like third hand but supposedly the blue Koppite you rescue is alph's big brother from Pikmin 3. If that's true it just confuses the timeline even more
And if the leaf tail is just a Bulbmin like creature, just that because Ochin and Moss are full grow pups they do not act like a Pikmin and start to act like a lider for the Pikmin
The reaso the lumiknoll glows is because it wants to experience danger. You see, if someone, or something, doesn't experience danger, they will never learn how to defend themselves. This is basically the lumiknoll's way of teaching the glow pikmin how to defend themselves.
In one of the logs it says that sparklium forms a membrane around things acting like a preserver and this is my headcanon for why everything is still fresh.
A theory for why everyone crash lands: Olimar mentions in pikmin 1 that the atmosphere is filled with *poisonous oxygen* . Which means that pikmin characters come from planets without oxygen in their atmosphere. This means that their ships are made for atmospheres without oxygen. My theory is that the oxygen reacts with the ship's engine, so the engine either explodes or fails. Since these civilizations are millions of years advanced into the future, maybe their engines can adapt to different planets' atmospheres, that's why they can actually take off after sundown, but when they're entering the planet for the first time, the engine isn't adapted yet, so it fails.
The thing is, Pikmin has always been loose with continuity from game to game. In Pikmin 2, it is implied the continents of PNF-404 are essentially the same as they are now as the ship says the two halves of the globe you find says they look like the planet from orbit. Then in Pikmin 3 the continents are how they are projected to be millions of years in the future where Antarctica and Australia have collided near the equator and Asia and South America are only separated by an archipelago. Now, the continents are back to being more or less like they are now. PNF-404 was also in more of a state of ruin in Pikmin 2. The landing site in the Wistful Wild is on top of a yield sign that's fallen from its post. Caves like the White Flower Garden and Subterranean Complex feature a rusted, metallic structure. Now, it's like the people just up and left just mere days ago. There are files on the sofa with a calculator and drawings on the floor while toys sit on the ground outside. The oven is even on with a natural gas supply while fans are receiving electricity. Even the new opening to the caves are the covers for sprinkler systems. Pikmin 4 is perhaps the most unsettling game yet when you think about it.
Side theory: At the end of Pikmin 3, the Plasm Wraith is angry at the Koppaites for taking Olimar away from it. There are confirmed to be interdimensional beings like the Water WRAITH, probably the same thing as the Plasm Wraith, in Pikmin Games, the Plasm Wraith could maybe go to the alternate timeline of Pikmin 4, and it decides to let out it's anger on poor explorers and the Rescue Corps. If you have watched Chase Kip's 'Pikmin Series Explained (in 9 minutes)', you will know that there is full proof that the Plasm Wraith, and the other types of Wraith, can make ships crash down to it's planet. So it let out anger on over 40 explorers to the danger of PNF-404. The Plasm Wraith has some SERIOUS anger issues.
possiblt the reason people kept crashlanding is because there could possibly be an emp blast machine thingy that deactivates any ships entering earths atmosphere. so either mankind was at war with an alien race, or had a war with a colony made on the moon or something.
Shepherd mentioned the koppi "might experience a food shortage soon" meaning pikmin 4 takes place before pikmin 3 but Immediately after pikmin 1 which pikmin 4 also takes place in an alternative time-line
I personally think that Pikmin 3 and 4 is an AU of Pikmin 1 and 2. This new timeline or universe would be... Pikmin 1: Olimer crashes into PNF 404 and is turned into a leafling, hearing his distress signal, people go out to rescue him, including those of Pikmin 4, and Louie, sent by the president of Hocatate, that sent him to save Olimar. Pikmin 4 takes place, as Olimar is saved and ect. It ends with Olimar and Louie returning hope and Pikmin 4 ending, leaving behind Moss and the Sire Hound. Olimer and Louie, learning that the treasure there can bust the company out of debt, return with the Hokatate Frieght to collect treasure, thus explaining Olimar's video logs when Pikmin 3 came out, resulting in them looking at a different location, Olimar gets kidnapped by the Plasm Wraith. Which leads into Pikmin 3, since in Pikmin 4, there is a dialouge cutscene at the end of the night that references a possible "food shortage" for Koppaite, which lead into Pikmin 3's main plot. So essentially its Pikmin 1, Pikmin 4, Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3, in this new retconned timeline. So how this effects earth, by Pikmin 4, we explore closer to human settlements while in other games, we explore more of the wilderness. As to where humans are, it could be possible that there was a radiation issue that forced them to evacuate, and that the places we investigate and play in are the red zones. So humans might still be around, but not in the same area we're in. It might even be possible that Pikmin 4 is the beginning of the war, while Pikmin 3 is more towards the ending, the radiation is forming to form smokey Progs and animals somehow merge and mutate into creatures like the Burrowing Snagret, or the Man at Legs. By the end, there really isn't too much left we haven't seen minus some oddities like the Mireclops or the Harp-Bird creature, which learned to live in the fallout, in comparison to many of the creatures having to survive underground for the most part.
The reason why louie is acting strange is because olimar told him to just repeat what he dose… and so he did, kidnapped people and turn them into leafings
@alexanderdahms4001 maybe it's a space colony and events cause the world end into chaos world with life because landscape we have to wait if plates moved rapidly or not
Who's to say that earth/PNF-404 experienced a nuclear apocalypse? My theory is that, indeed, Earth did experience a nuclear event, just not one that killed anything, but rather, it simply mutated all the creatures on the planet, hence, why all the human structures are still intact and up-kept. I think that humans and their pets may have mutated, but didn't die, as the Sirehound is roughly the size of a human's lapdog. In the next Pikmin game, I could definitely see them explaining the nuclear event that struck PNF-404 and I presume that the event is what's causing massive interference in the planet's atmosphere, which is making ships crash all the time, and I also think it's possible that we'll see a giant, mutated version of a human being in a future Pikmin title. Just like all the creatures on PNF-404, humans aren't gone, but they're likely VERY different now!
Let me tell you a story one day I was happily playing Pikmin 4 I had rescued olimar and was proud of myself. However, then I got some weird text you see Shepard was asking Bernard how they crash landed in the first place, and then Bernard is all being like I can lay on the thing with my eyes closed, but then he says this it felt like it was being controlled once I entered the planets atmosphere the ship suddenly started to lose control then all olimar goes on to say that the S,s dolphin crashed because of a meteor however, it did feel like it was being controlled, and then Russ himself goes on to say that maybe a creature is controlling it. please put this in one of your theory videos on Pikmin 4
Well I think we know a certain theory that’s is becoming less of a theory and of a just a part of the lore thing (if you don’t know there’s a theory called the umibozo(I don’t think that’s how that’s spelled) theory I’m getting tired of writing so you watch videos about it you’ll understand it)
I have a odd theory, the enemies during the night missions for glow sap turn into glowing dust when killed kind of similar to the enemies in the formidable Oak as they turned into glowing gold liquid as they were copies made by the Plasm wraith in Pikmin 3, I think the Wraith is here but its different from the first "timeline" before the rewrite with it mostly working at night using nutrients from glow pellets and bodies to make copies of the enemies while still manipulating the earths gravity to bring down ships.
@@BeeLy1011 really 40 something ships randomly crashing on one planet for no apparent reason and also in the original comment that we are replying to @SapphireQuartz7890 says that Bernard said that it felt like the ship was being controlled when the ship entered the atmosphere of PNF-404
If you think about it if there was a nuclear fall out for pikmin for, and the timeline is true, that could mean the pikmin are actually humans mutated by plants because of the nuclear fallout, which means the pikmin are the humans and the creatures are the mutated animals and maybe the ancient sire hound and the water wraith were mutations before the nuclear fall out
The mere fact that they abandon the original story and basically said that doesn't exist anymore is probably the biggest reason why I won't buy the game. I was actually looking forward to playing it
The “rescue the rescue mission” is honestly just average ksp experience, though often I get up to rescue rescue rescue rescue mission mission mission mission, or rescue mission for the third rescue mission for the second rescue mission for the first rescue mission for the original mission
Well, at first, I was scared that Pikmin 4 was going to retcon the whole series, but now I know that the theories were right and the game DOES take place in a different timeline at the end of Pikmin 1, which is something that I didn't expect Nintendo to do! Also, Moss is a girl, and I thought talking about the events of the other games like they were dreams or foreshadowing them was a great way of honoring the past games, but you just have to keep it in your mind that this game takes place in a timeline all on it's own
To what I know this takes place before pikmin 3, They say that koppai will have a food outage *soon* as booming population. So it may not be some alternative story.
I am pretty sure that Loui had eaten pikmins. Back in Hototake, probably he was that kind of weird guy that lives with his grandmother and is secretly a serial k1ller that practice canibalisms.
I still believe Pikmin 4 take place after Pikmin 2 but before Pikmin 3 since i believe one of the koppites mentions about how koppai isn't in the food crisis yet
My theory is that the whole game is in some kids imagination and they are just playing with toys around their yard, all of the enemies could also be bugs that the kid imagines to be the enemies
I really don’t think there was an apocalypse in the pikmin games. all because we don’t see humans really doesn’t mean there was one and nothing in the games really tell the player that there has been some catastrophic event. I think this game makes that more apparent to me then all the rest and everything happening in pikmin could very well just be something that humans just aren’t even aware of if that makes sense.
OH. MY. GOD. What if the three captains that are $ store versions of alph, Britney, and Charlie are actually evidence to the alternate universes theory, where at some point in pikmin, the story splits into two different ones, and this is one of the TWO universes. Alph Britney and Charlie are from the OTHER universe? Idk I make weird theories sometimes. I’ll give Matpat a call.
I think that PNF-404 is not Earth and is just a very Earth-like planet with a similar geography, so it was perfect for humans to colonized it (because of the right atmosphere) and started to live in there, and then introduced some of our terrestrial farm animals🐑🐄🐖 and plants🍓🍏 that settled there. Of course, the native species of animals and plants of the planet PNF-404 stayed in the ecosystem and did not disturb people. On the other hand, the disappearance of people from the planet or maybe just from this specific region were pikmin 4 events are, may be explained by a reason such as a sudden evacuation (which is why they left their settlements in perfect state behind) from earthquakes or some other natural catastrophic factor or just the whole neighborhood went for a vacation. 🏕🏖 This may explain why we didn't encounter any humans for the entire duration of the game.
It doesn’t make since to me that moss and oatchi are from different planets, they’re literally the same species which is unknown in this game, maybe they’re just grub dogs like the bulborbs because it’s literally what they are.
Two things:
Moss is a girl
The 3 Koppaites are actually NOT replacements for the Koppai explorers in 3.
So Pikmin 4 is a prequel?
@@terra_creeper i'd call it more of a retcon from pikmin 1

There was something really ominous in the House level I don’t see too many people talking about; there are suitcases by the door. It implies the previous occupants were going somewhere, possibly in a hurry, and they forgot or were unable to take their bags.
My best bet is that sometime in the present/near future humanity needed to flee earth. Quickly.
They may have thought they were coming back, but never did.
They went to Gyia (which clearly looks like “Gaia”, the Greek mythological figure for Earth) with their dogs and evolved into the tiny people and Oatchis over 97 generations, about 1000 years.

I believe what can be deduced by the shepherd logs and the piklopedia entries is that humans left PNF404 for some reason and after generations the humans might be all the little characters we know now, forgetting about earth through generations and eventually finding themselves back on PNF404. Explaining the DNA connection between the pups
(Edited a typo)
Olimar has a similar theory in some of his logs.
Or it just takes place in the Kirby universe and the humans just left to go to other universes
Well some of the scenery is in surprising good condition for what must have taken hundreds of thousands of years
It could be that the Pikmin are all that’s left of human-related life
I think I remember Bernard saying that the actual reasons lumiknolls want to attract enemies to them is because it absorbs the energy of the enemies when they die, and use that energy to produce glow sap, which also explains why they disappear whenever you kill them at night.
I thought it said something about not living if you don't experience danger or something.
Just a random thought lol
thats not what he said
he said something more like they attract enemies because the danger keeps them alive
but he said it more sciencey than that
@@realteamwall Yes.

As someone who played pikmin 3 and knows some lore of 1 & 2 i have no idea where they are taking this story
I Think Pikmin 4 is a Reboot, But like... An Alternate Universe? An Alternate Universe of Pikmin 1? I Dunno.

However, i'm glad that we even got a Pikmin 4 at all and that this game is so good. It seems like the just decided to reboot the series because they didn't know how, or just didn't feel like continuing the story from 3.
I don’t think it’s a reboot no matter what people say.
Why do you think it's not a reboot?
I guess I'll chalk it up to an ancient memory that's been imprinted on my genome.”
A reference to Jungian blood memory which made me shout when I first saw it.
"Some species need to put themselves in danger in order to thrive."
I remember that line from the English version?
It's also in the Japanese one so yes
What… that’s the exact line from the English version…? 😅
5:46 - I like to think when Glow Pikmin overcome a creature and destroy them they atomize their body into either food or glow pellets which help propagate their kind, which is how it works in game and why enemies don't leave a body.
So i believe they just mean that the sirehound is just same species as the common ancestor and as well looking thru logs from items and stuff olimar theorizes that the humans are his ancestors
So the implication is humans left earth (with dogs) colonized space and over time shrunk to adapt to new planets as wel as eventually forgetting about their original homeworld until olimar rediscovered it
I believe the different leafling colors have the abilities of the pikmin of the same color like olinars leafling form color (red) gives him the ability to resist fire and pack a meaner punch than other pikmin and/or leafling colors and the sage leafling would be resistant to poison and poison the enemy when killed
The colors are tied directly to hair color though do I don’t think this would be the case

Along with the fact that almost every area has nearly prestine human structures.
guess the reason they rebooted is they wnated to tell a diffrent story maybe
After the ending of Pikmin 4, what if the Pikmin were to come across the Sage Leaf (who stays behind and remains a Leafling)? They'd get yet another leader to guide them.
Also the many planets crash landers from not planets but moons orbit the massive planet.
Think more like a branching timeline, Olimar fails in 1, results in the events of pikmin 4. But 1 doesnt have a doggo, so idk
Conveniently uploaded after i beat the game lol 😂
For me it looks like they remixed 1&2´s story and set 4 after that,
with the koppaite food crisis being hinted as lead up to 3.
Maybe the reason everything looks so intact could be that sparklium
might be some sort of conservant.

...dude.. needs to pay attention.
Plus I bet this is a prequel to pikmin 3 deluxe.
Since it's technically olimar's third visit on the planet..
(His crashlanding.. returnin to help oatchi, then pikmin 3 deluxe.)
(Also look at the Voyage logs..)
Moss is a girl.
I'd like to think that the "retconning" that Pikmin 4 does is more like the Zelda series. Both were created by Miyamoto, so I'd believe that Pikmin and Zelda simply have split timelines now and the new games can just jump around and go back and forth as they please. The Zelda series has been doing it for years, so why can't they have another series that does that?
for me Louie feels like a filler for leafling olimar
As a character he is much more but in pikmin 4 he is just that a filler for leafling olimar but in pikmin 2 and 3 his existence and how he makes everyone’s lives more miserable shows even more than it did in this game
If you read all the entries for the smoky progg ( or the loading screen tips) the red substance is officially referred to as “gloom” and is very reminiscent of gloom from Tears of the Kingdom.
Gloom is just an American translation thing, in Japanese it's actually referred to as miasma, which is just a term for unhealthy air.
@@melomere7125 dang I was hoping for a crossover.😢
@@godismyjudge4964 Well the glow pellets look like starbits so there's that.
If you look at the event of the alt ending of pikmin 1 it flows pretty well into pikmin 4. Situation where we have a timeline split from pikmin 1 to 2 & 4. And then pikmin 3 is after 2 but not connected to 4
Is it just me or All the aliens form other planets look almost like humans
They are humanoid but not human
It could be the reason why the Pikmin look up to them, because it reminds them of a past
The final phase of the final boss is based off the glow pikmin probably
I'm kinda surprised you haven't had more Pikmin 4 videos. I thought you really liked the series. 😕
A theory for why everyone crash lands:
Olimar mentions in pikmin 1 that the atmosphere is filled with *poisonous oxygen* .
Moss is a gurl olimar literally states this in a log
The glow pikmin sap acts like a treatment and a preventative.
The reason why louie is acting strange is because olimar told him to just repeat what he dose…
and so he did, kidnapped people and turn them into leafings
It says in a voyage log that louie found olimar turning people into leaflings, and he remembered that olimar always told him to do what he does
I have a crazy theory, what if aliens came to earth and turned all the humans into the pikmin?
What if this planet not earth because their near rocky gaint 10x size planet close to earth
@@skistorm739explain why there humans remian and oxgyen if this non erthg
Olimar sed to louie that "what i do, do it too" so when olimar became in to that thing, louie saw what he was doing and just did what he did.
@@Luke_the_goomba Wait how does the Umibozu theory connect to 4? I felt like this game kinda deconfirmed it
@@BeeLy1011there’s an enemy in the files named the “amebozu” that kind of confirms it
@@BeeLy1011 really 40 something ships randomly crashing on one planet for no apparent reason and also in the original comment that we are replying to @SapphireQuartz7890 says that Bernard said that it felt like the ship was being controlled when the ship entered the atmosphere of PNF-404
I hope that in the next game they talk about why everyone who gets close to pnf 404 crashes their ship
Well, at first, I was scared that Pikmin 4 was going to retcon the whole series, but now I know that the theories were right and the game DOES take place in a different timeline at the end of Pikmin 1, which is something that I didn't expect Nintendo to do! Also, Moss is a girl, and I thought talking about the events of the other games like they were dreams or foreshadowing them was a great way of honoring the past games, but you just have to keep it in your mind that this game takes place in a timeline all on it's own
Wait now I need a Splatoon 3 lore vid after that thing ab humans
My theory is the reason why people crash landed was probably some electromagnetic interference.
To what I know this takes place before pikmin 3, They say that koppai will have a food outage *soon* as booming population. So it may not be some alternative story.
I love how Pikmin 4 is pro vaccine 😁
Heres my version of the pikmin timeline pikmin 1, pikmin 2, pikmin 3, hey pikmin, pikmin 4
How cool would it be if in the next game we actually get to go to whatever dimension the water wrath is from
I am pretty sure that Loui had eaten pikmins. Back in Hototake, probably he was that kind of weird guy that lives with his grandmother and is secretly a serial k1ller that practice canibalisms.
Pikmin 5 is definitely confirmed
Does PNF mean page not found or planet not found or pikmin need friends
Maybe the pikmin are the humans
The pikmin 3 character look alikes are actually just family members of the pikmin 3 crew, in the data entries
They didn't recognize the leafling as Olimar because they've never seen Olimar before.
Y’know this actually makes more sense then most of the other theories I’m with you
It's not that the cure doesn't work on moss but rather olimar doesn't want him cured
I think these three ‘pikmin 3’ like people are family members of Alph, Brittany and Charlie
Probably a bio weapon. Just wiped out humans,
OH. MY.
I have two theories 1. Bomb rocks are crystallized plutonium 2. That pikmin 4 comes after pikmin 1 but before pikmin 2 or 3
PNF-404 is not the name of the pikmin planet is stands for planet not found with 404 being an error code
olimar said poisonous Oxygen what if he breathes oxygen but he nuclear fallout made it poisonous?
I think it’s just that oxygen itself if poisonous to him you wouldn’t say a poisonous gas is poisoned you’d just say that it’s poisonous
Yorke has been confirmed to be alph's older brother
This may explain why we didn't encounter any humans for the entire duration of the game.
It doesn’t make since to me that moss and oatchi are from different planets, they’re literally the same species which is unknown in this game, maybe they’re just grub dogs like the bulborbs because it’s literally what they are.
There was some dialogue of Collin asking what planet Oatchi is from. We didn’t get an answer, but it’s probably earth.
Really how come we never see the ships of louie and the other castaways?
The reason they keep crash landing is because they entered American airspace 😂
Pretty sure nintendo said that pikmin 4 is a sequel not a rebbot
I preferred the regular caves over the Dandori ones
I hope we get answers in Pikmin 5
