DANIELA, 22, from Finland describes herself as 'an old soul stuck in the 80s'. With her 'bat's nest' hair and heavy black eye makeup, the UK-based uni student says she is inspired by her favourite 80s bands and artists. She also loves creating and sharing her unique makeup looks and custom clothing with her 36,000 followers on Instagram. However, in spite of her distinctly gothic look, Daniela says she sees Barbie as a feminist icon and will transform into a Barbie-inspired 90s look. Swapping her deathly pale makeup for fake tan and her black hair for blonde, Daniela’s new look is a complete departure from her signature style...

I love that she appreciates the character of Barbie even if she doesn’t dress like Barbie. I like a lot of people assume goths hate anything and everything cute and sparkly but I don’t think that’s the case for the most part.
Well, it is the case generally but it's also a bit of a stereotype, there's goths who do like some cute "girly" things. I've always been into both goth and Japanese kawaii culture.
As a teen my hatred of pink, girly things and anything to do with Playboy was pretty strong, but as an adult I just hate blandness far more than "girly stuff".
@@penumbra1213 I gotcha I just mean that in these interviews a lot of them are like “this is cute but it’s not me” and not “ew gross I hate pink”. Plus, some goths (such as myself) even have a soft spot for pink and kawaii things. I love wearing pink and black together.
If the person is happy with their style, then I love their style. Their style is probably just not mine.

All these goth to “normal” transformations are quite entertaining, but they always look so much better goth. The world would be so boring if everyone looked the same 🦇

Most ppl don’t know how to do goth on non goth ppl cause the goth look is very personal, it’s unique to you, if you haven’t got your own style within the subculture it can look like someone in a costume it’ll never look right

I follow you on Instagram and the first time I saw you I did a double take as you look just like one of my best friends from the goth scene years ago where I live. She was from Belgium and was both a Trad Goth Queen and a lovely sweet person - like you. I'm so happy to see the new wave of goths such as yourself carrying the torch for Goth. I, like many, thought that Goth was going to die out. Keep being yourself. You look incredible and you don't need to change a thing 🖤

I always feel bad for the makeup artists when they are like, eww I hate it, when they are just doing their job lol I hope they never take it personally. I think this makeup artist did a great job and although I always prefer the original look, I think she still looked very beautiful either way.

Wow, I was certainly surprised after the transformation. She's certainly a beautiful girl but I love that she's 100% authentic & is nobody but her true self & her expression of what she likes in terms of her own personal style. The makeup artist did a wonderful job BTW!

from what I've learned watching this transformation is like most of these people experienced getting bullied and judge before during their younger years that's why it feels like they just embrace these judgement my having these unique outfits and looks

This just came up on my feed. I love her and her friend's trad goth looks. The transformation was well done, but obviously she didn't feel like herself. As a very old goth, it's nice to see that 80's influence in young people.
She looked adorable, so cute. What’s easier was that she hadn’t tattooed or pierced herself up a lot, just had the minimum of each so she can switch back and forth between looks as she desires. Why limit yourself to only one look and one mood, when we all have many.

She is extremely cute! Very beautiful.. I dig the goth look on her but I personally think she’d look the best if she met both styles somewhere in the middle. Basically the only thing about the goth look I’d change would be to not do the eye makeup like that because she has such a pretty face and the makeup kind of hides that a little .. this is just my personal opinion, which doesn’t matter whatsoever.. what matters is that she is comfortable and being her true self. But yeah, I love both styles on her. Beautiful girl!

I used to be goth back in high school and I still have a little bit apart of my life. I normally always wear black or grey or white still.

She's real life Sandman's Death!
Sandman's Death was actually based entirely on the Goth model, artist, dancer Cinamon Hadley. She sadly died a few years ago. I see what you mean about the resemblance though. Both beautiful, striking Goths.

There's nothing wrong with that! Look however you want to. I'm a goth but I adore cute blonde style looks as I've also been heavily into grunge/riot grrl since I was 10/11 and sometimes I mix the 2. I'm sure you look fantastic and you certainly have a good attitude 🙂
